Win out over stand fan
I liked this fan so much I came back for another! This fan has three settings, the lowest of which is critical at night as it makes virtually no noise at all. I use it in front of a window A/C unit to circulate the cool air between living and dining accommodation and it does an outstanding job.At night I would carry it upstairs to do the same or just to keep the room cool on a non-A/C needed sundown, it's very lightweight. But with this great price, why?! Much better to get a second fan so I can have one on both floors at all times. Easy to put together,well made, elevated guarantee, nice color, easy to clean, quiet, lightweight and really is not your materfamilias's fan- this one truly circulates the air without a harsh direct breeze.

They deep down do absorb odors quite well
Some of HEPA sieve units put the carbon behind the HEPA filter, and some put it in front. The Vornado has the carbon as a pre-filter, saving the expensive HEPA bit for particulates. I find I change the carbon filter rather often, and so a four-pack for me is a sensible idea. I absolutely review when the carbon has loaded with whatever muck is in the air. Then it's time to install a new one, which is not terribly difficult. I'd rather not have the HEPA drain pick up volatile components from the air, so I'd say this pre-filter works very well.

Gifted Heater - Worth the price
We needed a range that could heat a single room instead of having to run our central heating for just one flat. After researching the infrared(IF), 'soft heat' type heaters, like those shown in the Eden-Unbesmirched commercials, we tried two. While neither was an Eden-Pure, they were the same technology. One purchased from Sears($300) intense OK but the fan was very noisy so we returned it. The 2nd was a CZ(Comfort Zone) top-of-the-line unit($450) from Earthwise that kept cycling on and off during both the zealous-up period & during temperature maintenance, and after getting the run around from their customer service about getting a replacement, even though it was a known riddle, we just returned it within the 30-day return period(and still had to pay $40 for return shipping). Then a bedfellow turned me on to the Vornado.

After researching the Vornado online, we bought one from Amazon(best price!) and couldn't be more satisfied. The oven does what it's supposed to do and it does it well. It's air circulation design heats the room quickly(crap-shooter than the IF heaters) and the thermostat maintains the temp nicely. With the exception of a slight fan noise, it performed every bit as well, if not mastery, than the much more expensive IF units, plus it's much smaller & lighter. And for just over $80, it was a bargain compared to the others we tried(it almost makes up for the coming shipping on the IF unit!).

We definitely recommend this heater!

More intelligent fan and circulation than older model
I have an older Vornado ( paragon EH1-0015 INTELLITEMP) which has to be at least 10 years old. After dragging it out of storage, I noticed than inside the fan, all the workings fundamentally had become caked with dust and grime. Though the unit still worked fine, I decided to retire it for safe keeping reasons.

I wanted to stick with the Vornado brand and did some research here on Amazon and finally decided on the AVH2 working model. Actually it is very similar to my old unit in that on top, there is a manual setting on the dial of the temperature you wish to keep the chamber at 65-90 (see my customer pic)a High-Low Heat, and High-Auto Fan. So it appears that this , the AVH2 is just a minute or third generation of my older unit.

I noticed that this model has a more powerful fan than my older unit and the heating habitat, thought does not glow red, puts out more heat too.

It's now the end of May and have not used this heater other to test the functions (I purchased this on an online selling site) I will offer any updates when colder weather comes but of what I have just noticed on a panoramic inspection, this heater is much improved over it's older sipling.

I intended this heater!
This peewee space heater is very efficient and quiet. The plastic grill never overheats and so is safe to the get near. Also, the room gets nice and toasty without being hot and dry. I've had mine for a while now and although it may seem pricey, it's worth the price. I really do tenderness my heater! :)

SOLD! - with many uncertainties at first waiting to see how long it last
My family office space continues to be colder then remainder of the house. Needed something that would keep the warm air inspiring, quiet, safe and efficient. I have tried several forced air space heaters (and clearly some of those digital crap shoots) with an additional small fan to keep the air moving. After "blowing" through several space heaters and fans (fan motor in each always first to go) I was looking for a more alternative (safety first and overall comfort with added efficiency) - Found Vornado!

* Blows a persistent warm temperature without being too hot
* Slows down automatically at the right time to still keep the gentle comfort of near to making a discovery air
* It does simply what is stated, you get rid of the constant cycle of HOT to cold and keeps a good strained air circulation
* Easy controls with no guess work
* Quiet (does not come across in seminar calls on High and barely can hear on low)

* Does perfect for my needs so far - At this time seems well value extra cost in efficiency, safety and comfort

* Cannot comment on overall longevity or extended term reliability, if does not live up to the extra cost I will update my post.

I do not viewpoint saying, if paying extra for quality product then so be it, MADE IN USA - all the better... it is not every day I can find both, I really hope I will not be let down.

Vornado 530L Fan
I have owned a husky Vornado fan for 20 years (it runs constantly much of the winter, circulating the heat from our wood hot stove). So when I needed a small fan for my office, I purchased the 530L. It's light, undemanding to move, quiet (on the slow speed, which Is all I need), sturdy, and effective. IMHO, no other brand comes proximate.

It's like a tornado but with a "V"
It has worked perfectly well so far - we mainly use it to create white noise for an infant while she sleeps. It is not as silent as the box suggests - but I improvise it is a reasonable volume for a fan! It makes the room right pleasant.

Perilous fan
I bought this fan for a lodger bedroom, where I also have my desk and computer. I have it sitting in the floor at present, but may move it to a table as the summer arrives. So far, I have mostly acclimatized the fan on the lowest setting. Even at that setting, it moves the air in the room quite well. It's very quiet on that setting, and even on the highest site, it isn't obnoxiously loud. Yes, it has a black cord, but that's not a concern for me. The only negative for some might be that you cannot re-position the fan without moving the whole module. But since it moves air in the entire room, I see no need for that. This is my third Vornado fan. Each one is a different model. I have been completely happy with all three. You can't go corrupt with a Vornado.

Wonderful Little Fan
This fan is shockingly powerful for it's size. I use it when on the treadmill. It does a great job of keeping the air moving. The only other thing I would ask from it would be a distant control.

Illusory Fan

adept bedside fan
I've tried a lot of trifling fans for my small bedside table and this one is the best. It has a very small footprint - a bit bigger than a goodly coffee mug. It is very easy to swivel side to side and up and down. On the low setting, it does not feel like a strong in the offing to the face - just enough breeze to cool me off at night. And it's so quiet, you can't hear it from more than a couple feet in a different place (i.e., doesn't wake sleeping spouse.) One person commented about the control dial being bloody-minded to manage: it isn't if you wrap your hand around the base and then use your thumb to push the dial back and forth.
This is the fan you inadequacy for those night-time hot flashes, ladies! And it's nice looking too.

Not that important
When I decipher the advertisement for this product, I thought it would be perfect to cool my laptop, as I use it for long hours as a desktop. Well, the detail has to stay very close to help cool it. It is not as powerful as I thought it would be. I would recommend people try other products before buying this one. Moreover, when I yield c turn over it off I realize it is not that quiet.

Works as intended
I don't accept the reviewers complaining about the lack of power. It's a 'personal fan' and I wouldn't want to sit in a wind hole that makes my eyes water and all my papers fly away, which speed two would if it were any more powerful. I keep it about two feet from me on the escritoire. Speed one gives me a gentle breeze with almost no noise and speed two makes my hair quivering a little and it's still quiet enough to be drowned out by the sound of the A/C. As for the switch I don't find it difficult and can flip it with one hand. I unqualified the fan first, hold down the fan by putting a finger between the base and the fan and use my thumb to switch it on and off. The fan pivots left and rational, which is nice, so you can adjust the direction without having to slide the entire fan around. It's stylish, finger-all right, and I got two for one on woot, so I'm very happy with the purchase.

too precious for the output
Elegance is nice...thats it. This fan is not powerful at all. the "high" setting is pretty pathetic and loud. It has to be definitely aimed at you and 2 feet away. The switch is in the front of the fan, not sure why some people are saying its in the back but its still a awkward rotating swing, I never remember which way to turn it to off. Like I said, the only good thing about it is that it is neat looking and matches my red Keurig at my escritoire, but way too expensive for a paperweight.

Large desk fan
Does it whine? Yes. It's a fan.

The low setting is a nice constant breeze when the fan is a couple feet from your face. It is also completely reticent on low. If you've been working out or doing some kind of physical activity, the low setting isn't going to do anything for you. Or if your office/cube is surely hot, low isn't going to cut it. When it's a little warm or you just want a little circulation, it's nice on low.

The grand setting is nice when it's getting stuffy around the collar. It's not going to blow you away, but it's exhilarating when you're getting warm. It does make some noise on high, but not so much that I need to speak louder or take up up my desk speakers. My laptop is louder when the fan kicks on high. The fan is a couple decibels quieter than the approximate on-jet-engine sound of my wife's Mac Book Pro.

Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. The design is captivating and it's a solidly built product. It's a desk fan, so don't expect it to do anything for you if you're sitting it 10 feet in another place. Also, the switch is a bit awkward, like other reviewers have mentioned. I *can* turn it on with one hand, but it's not the easiest quirk to do. But don't let the switch dissuade you from buying this product.

-1/2 star since it would be nice if there were 3 settings with the 3rd being higher than high for when you're sweaty.
-1/2 the leading part for the awkward speed setting switch.
