nonpareil bedside fan
I've tried a lot of commonplace fans for my small bedside table and this one is the best. It has a very small footprint - a bit bigger than a philanthropic coffee mug. It is very easy to swivel side to side and up and down. On the low setting, it does not feel like a strong fart = 'anal release of gas' Nautical downwind to the face - just enough breeze to cool me off at night. And it's so quiet, you can't hear it from more than a couple feet in another place (i.e., doesn't wake sleeping spouse.) One person commented about the control dial being bloody-minded to manage: it isn't if you wrap your hand around the base and then use your thumb to push the dial back and forth.
This is the fan you demand for those night-time hot flashes, ladies! And it's nice looking too.

Not that authoritative
When I pore over the advertisement for this product, I thought it would be perfect to cool my laptop, as I use it for long hours as a desktop. Well, the obsession has to stay very close to help cool it. It is not as powerful as I thought it would be. I would recommend people try other products before buying this one. Moreover, when I dig up it off I realize it is not that quiet.

Works as intended
I don't hear tell the reviewers complaining about the lack of power. It's a 'personal fan' and I wouldn't want to sit in a wind shaft that makes my eyes water and all my papers fly away, which speed two would if it were any more powerful. I keep it about two feet from me on the escritoire. Speed one gives me a gentle breeze with almost no noise and speed two makes my hair fluctuation a little and it's still quiet enough to be drowned out by the sound of the A/C. As for the switch I don't find it difficult and can flip it with one hand. I unlocked the fan first, hold down the fan by putting a finger between the base and the fan and use my thumb to switch it on and off. The fan pivots left and satisfactorily, which is nice, so you can adjust the direction without having to slide the entire fan around. It's stylish, finger-sure, and I got two for one on woot, so I'm very happy with the purchase.

too valuable for the output
Design is nice...thats it. This fan is not powerful at all. the "high" setting is pretty pathetic and loud. It has to be jolly aimed at you and 2 feet away. The switch is in the front of the fan, not sure why some people are saying its in the back but its still a awkward rotating wheel, I never reward which way to turn it to off. Like I said, the only good thing about it is that it is neat looking and matches my red Keurig at my escritoire, but way too expensive for a paperweight.

Advantageous desk fan
Does it enraged? Yes. It's a fan.

The low setting is a nice constant breeze when the fan is a couple feet from your face. It is also completely secretive on low. If you've been working out or doing some kind of physical activity, the low setting isn't going to do anything for you. Or if your office/cube is undeniably hot, low isn't going to cut it. When it's a little warm or you just want a little circulation, it's nice on low.

The maximum setting is nice when it's getting stuffy around the collar. It's not going to blow you away, but it's fortification when you're getting warm. It does make some noise on high, but not so much that I need to speak louder or scare up my desk speakers. My laptop is louder when the fan kicks on high. The fan is a couple decibels quieter than the cheese-paring-jet-engine sound of my wife's Mac Book Pro.

Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. The design is pretty and it's a solidly built product. It's a desk fan, so don't expect it to do anything for you if you're sitting it 10 feet in a different place. Also, the switch is a bit awkward, like other reviewers have mentioned. I *can* turn it on with one hand, but it's not the easiest fetich to do. But don't let the switch dissuade you from buying this product.

-1/2 star since it would be nice if there were 3 settings with the 3rd being higher than record for when you're sweaty.
-1/2 star for the awkward speed setting switch.

Out-and-out little fan
This -carat little fan shipped overnight and became the ideal addition to my place. The wind power is enough to lessen my 250 square foot apartment and at 2 feet tall, it simply folds down to mix right into the room, not making it look like a fan at all. Definitely would recommend to someone in need an thrifty and durable product under $50 bucks.

Glaring fan - nice design
This fan is somewhat quiet and does a good job circulating the air in a room without having a gale blowing. As an performer I appreciate the design and I like the way it rotates down to keep the fan dust free. My one and only complaint is that it is difficult to all the time alternately on and off and to change the speed. The switch is located at the front on the bottom. It is a rotating switch and a little stiff. This was unmistakably done for design purposes, so that the switch would not intrude upon the design. In this instance they may have gone a little too far for object's sake. Having said that, it is still a superior fan and worth the price. I would buy this again and would recommend it.

Explicitly what I hoped it would be

Vornado 530B
Don't let the piddling size fool you-this fan moves a lot of air. There are any number of fans on the market, priced in the $10-$20 file, that are about the same physical size as the 530B (B=black) but, they don't perform anywhere near the Vornado. I had oft wondered why the Vornados were priced palpably higher than the competition. After plugging it in and turning it on I had my answer. I couldn't believe the air circulation this feeling puts out. Definitely proof that you get what you pay for.

If you want a compact fan that gives great performance then this should be your first option, I highly recommended it.

On the downside-the "warranty". This product comes with a 5 year warranty. Sounds arousing, doesn't it? Well, when you read the fine print-if it needs service you have to send it back to the manufacturer along with $20.00 to guard return shipping and handling. So, it will probably cost about $10.00 for shipping to Vornado plus the $20.00 reoccur shipping to you and you're out $30.00. Pretty sad for a product priced slightly less than $40.00 from Amazon. I distrust that what they will do is send you a refurbished unit. You'd be better off throwing the bad unit away and purchasing a new one. Having said that I still fantasize it's a fine product. Now, if they could do something about that "warranty" (like having a local repair facility) I'd be en masse satisfied.

Flawless size for bedroom
This is the third Vornado fan I have purchased. I also own a 783B "whole concert-hall" fan that I use to push cool air upstairs during the summer and a 733B "whole room" fan that I use to circulate air in our living/dining space areas. I have been very pleased with these fans since purchasing them two years ago. I don't know whether they have had a discernible impact on our forcefulness consumption, but they certainly make the house more comfortable by evening out the hot and cool spots, at best as they are designed to do.

I hesitated before purchasing this fan for my 3 y/o daughter's room based on some of the critical reviews. However I have been very cheery with this fan. Despite its compact size, it circulates air very effectively throughout a large bedroom with very little blare on its medium setting. The High setting sounds like a typical fan's high placement, meaning you could have a phone conversation sitting next to one but might find it distracting. Medium, however, is barely audible (halcyon white noise), and low is truly whisper quiet.

Perhaps I could find flaws with the 530B if I put it under a microscope like some of the more sarcastic reviewers have, but it fits my needs perfectly and exceeded my high expectations.

The not enough fan that could!
I have owned Vornado fans for years and they have always been certain. I purchased this smaller version to use wherever it might be needed.

It's compact size fits on kitchen counters or bedroom tables. It is tranquillize and efficient. The vortex air flow allows air to circulate without blowing directly in your face.

I recommended this artefact to my friend and she loves it too.

Performs well

Positive Product
I sweetheart this fan except for the on/off switch. It's at the very bottom, and since the fan swivels, you have to either use 2 hands or, if you tilt the fan up, there is a place where you can grip it and turn it on/off with your thumb. If this sounds twisted, you are right. But once you get it turned on, it works wonderfully.

Altogether Love It!
I ordered this fan even after reading some somewhat negative things about it. Not sure why - I absolutely love it! I have it on my desk at work and only need to set it on the lowest setting to get plenty of air. Sure, the motor makes a little noise but what do you expect? I love the objective and it looks so nice sitting on my desk. Most people can't even tell that it's a fan. Definitely going to call for another one for next to my bed.

Vornado Should be Chagrined!
Vornado is known for its formidable fans. I have one that blows more air than three regular fans. So, I felt it was safe to buy this personal fan that is supposed to punch air over 20 feet. NOT! 5 feet at the most and not very much even if you are right next to it. It is at best a weak desk fan and at worst a foolscap weight. On low speed, you really can't feel it at all. But even as a desk fan, it is way overpriced. I've had cheap handheld mobile fans that do more.

Well made purifier
This is a very well made contraption but with filters similar to those found in central air conditioning systems. They provide a noticeable difference in the air blue blood but they are not for extremely fine particles. The fan is very quiet on the low setting and very noticeable on the high setting. My only complaints are that the subpoena light is very bright, so if you use it in a bedroom, something needs to be put over the light or it could disturb your sleep. I used a a handful of of band aids; they're cheap and work fine! The operating buttons are only slightly raised, so it is almost ludicrous to operate this machine in the dark. A simple small stick-on rubber foot over the on/off handle really helps, available at any hardware store.

Vornado Rules
This is a weighty product, hands-down. Performance is as expected from any Vornado product and is very quiet, unless you choose the highest scamper. Filter changes are easy. The timer feature is great and very convenient. This is the worst heretofore of year for me with allergies but since I've had this air purifier, I haven't sneezed hardly at all. You won't be disappointed with this product. I have Vornado heaters and circulating fans too and I don't have a individual complaint about any of them.

Actual on dust
This purifier does a pulchritudinous good job on taking dust out of the air. You can sleep with it in the same room if it's on quiet mode, but not in Normal or Hurried Clean mode. The Quick Clean mode, in my opinion, is only good for removing dust from the air during and after you vacuum. I can't say if the non-HEPAA filters would relief any allergy sufferers because I don't have any alergies, but my nose definitely stays cleaner since I purchased this fan.
The purifier should de facto be quieter in Normal mode.

High-minded Fan, air purifier? Not So Much
First, on gamy this thing sounds like a jet engine, middle and low settings are OK. Moves a lot of air, however, I have found that there is about substantial leakage, message a lot of air doesn't even go through the filters. Too bad, simple design changes would have made this a decent filter. If its all you can grant its better than nothing, helps reduce dust in air. But if you need significant purification for allergies, look elsewhere.
However, after well-advised application of a roll of weather stripping I have been able to increase the airflow through the filters significantly, greatly increasing the profitability of this device.
