uncontrived is sometimes most effective!
Didn't buy from Amazon but the reviews here helped in my resolution. The unit is pretty basic: Fan unit, base, and two filters. Simple design wins here. We are using it 24/7 in our commander bedroom; we sleep more soundly and wake up more rested. The volume of air movement is impressive and I'm already seeing thoroughly a bit of dust accumulating on the filters 6 weeks in. Plus the 10X20X1 filter size is easy to find "generic" replacements for. Undemanding way to replace more often for less $$. Overall great value for what it does for those with allergies.

The Unambiguous Best You Can Buy
I have asthma and cats. I dearth an excellent air purifier. I found it in the AQS500. It is powerful. It's easy to use, a breeze to set up, reliable and changing the filters is a alertness. It also makes a pleasant 'white noise' that drowns out the city sounds at night and is a extra to sleep with.

It might not be cheap, but it will be worth every penny you spend on it. I bought one years ago when they first came out. It's still successful strong. I wanted one for every level of our house so I bought two more. They are all of equally high quality. Add to that benefit customer service and automatic shipments of replacement filters and this product can't be beat.

Vornado Artefact Review
I am 100% convinced that the AQS500 Purifier by Vornado has kept me from getting heartsick this winter. I keep it running full time in my bedroom and replace the filters when needed. I purchased this a year ago December and have not had any symptoms of disorder. That is a time span of over a year without being sick! Plus, I love the quiet white bruit about at night. It really helps me get a good nights sleep. I would recommend this commodity (and I have) to anyone looking for an air purifier.

Value Every Penny
I first discovered Vornado back in 2000 when I lived in a ungenerous urban apartment and was suffering horribly from allergies, especially in the winter, when the air circulation was inadequate. I bought a small Vornado purifier which made an immediate positive impact, and I used it nightly for ten years (it only needed replacing because my son skint the dial off)! We just replaced that initial purifier with the AQS500, which provides the chalk-white noise we love, although it can be virtually silent as well. It has made a world of difference in our sleep comfort and our allergy symptoms. I fancy the Vornado family of products, and I will never buy a cheap air purifier, space heater or fan again.

Not as stationary as I hoped
I wanted a fan that would put about air slowly and quietly without drafts, just enough to mix cool air at the floor and warm air at the ceiling. This fan, while a wholesome product generally, doesn't have a low enough speed to do this. It was too noisy and created a noticable draft even at the lowest scenery.

Nothing but what I wanted!
I've been short of to get a nice little fan for my room ever since I moved to San Francisco about a year and a half ago. A fan running on low can present nice white noise for going to sleep. Plus, I live on the top floor with no AC and lots of South fa windows so it gets toasty. I only got this fan a few days ago and sadly its cool here so I can't fully test its capabilities. However, I can already report this will meet my needs. This fan is powerful, reasonably quiet, and sturdy. It has a nice substantial experience to it. It's a bit bigger than I imagined although I'm sure the dimensions are correct. I love the rotating feature to outright the air in different directions. I've already been using that to cool me off after biking home with groceries. The 3 speed swap is easy to use and doesn't feel cheap. The footing/base is sturdy as well. I've never worried about the fan tipping over. I'm looking promote to using the removable face feature for cleaning. Dusty old fans are gross and reaching between the grill is no fun. All-inclusive, I'm totally satisfied and I have no doubt this fan will be durable!

Upstanding ok

Unalloyed Junk, avoid at all costs
This fan claims it can proceed air 70 feet. WRONG! Not possible to feel the air 10 feet from this fan. I have a $19.95 set free-standing fan from Sears that pushes more air than this piece of junk. I don't know why all these people are giving it "laud reviews". Maybe all these positives reviews are Vornado stock holders. :)

Glaring fan - nice design
This fan is less quiet and does a good job circulating the air in a room without having a gale blowing. As an player I appreciate the design and I like the way it rotates down to keep the fan dust free. My one and only complaint is that it is difficult to shift on and off and to change the speed. The switch is located at the front on the bottom. It is a rotating switch and a little stiff. This was plainly done for design purposes, so that the switch would not intrude upon the design. In this instance they may have gone a little too far for originate's sake. Having said that, it is still a superior fan and worth the price. I would buy this again and would recommend it.

Does not "spread" air
I bought this fan because it says it's an air ciculator. Okay....so one would cogitate on it would do what it says in other reviews. Such as pulling cool air from an air conditioner into another room.

Temp in hallway under Vornado - 71 degrees.

Temp in lodgings only 1 foot from Vornado - 74.3 degrees. It never changed. I put the temp all over in the room, it never changed. Turned off the fan, didn't coins. What a load of crap.

There is no heat source in the room, it's just a room that is 74.3 degrees. I don't necessary a breeze, I need to actually pull air. One would think that if it's able to pull air then it would at least lower it one exceedingly. The air circulates, true - but all it does is circulate the same hot air. I don't want a breeze...my box fans can pull air from the hallway and trim the temp. I expected this to do the same and it failed.

BTW I have the 5 speed gray Vornado which is this model except supposedly better.

Not built like older 783's, but still a workhorse
[Ordered from Amazon under in-law's finances] 4 stars, not 5, even if the 783B does give 5-star results in the end. Out of the box a newbie to the Vornado outcome line will see a brochure with many details about use and cleaning (thank you, Vornado for designing a fan that that makes this chore ridiculously compliant) -- but not a word on assembly or adjusting height. True, assembly just means joining three wind sections with two screws. But some people might find this confusing. If you keep looking around, though, you'll find instructions and pics on the box lids -- lenient to overlook the first time around. There's no height "adjustment": leaving out the center section makes the challenge shorter, so there's really just a 2-position choice. The maximum is 42" only when the fan itself is tilted upward. Believed straight ahead, it reaches 37.5" at best. People accustomed to cheap fans over 5 feet treble might have to adjust to this. 4 stars, also, for an oddly mounted power switch that required a bit of sculpting with an Xacto pierce to make the pointer move in and out of the OFF position (poor smoothing of the edges on the molded plastic stud). Another thing some buyers won't be used to is the way Vortex fans work. Most fans have cheaper poniard and front screen construction that simply scatters air all over. This sounds OK, but in use it's very inefficient, and a cheap way to make cheaply fans with cheap motors. Typically a Vornado uses a more refined blade construction for crap-shooter balance (costs more) and a front screen that gathers and focuses air straight ahead instead of everywhere. It moves only diet more air than other fans, but the stream is much stronger. Aim the airstream at a ceiling or opposite wall, and the multi-directional ricochet is unquestionably effective; no matter where you stand, you'll feel cooler. Another advantage is that cool or warm air is forcefully spread to other locations -- I'm using one a.c. and a Vornado to cool several rooms, leaving two other a.c.'s inactive most of the point. My older Vornado was equally adept at spreading heat, as well. I no longer need our old portable oil-burning stove. Also, I fault it by one star because Vornado is no longer American-made, yet prices are the same (shame on them!). The results and the 5-year agreement are worth the price, especially since I'm saving energy and a ton of $$$ in a.c. and heating costs, and conspicuously because the Vornado really does its job. As for noise: on low you can barely hear it. On high it's about average -- just memorialize that if you expect a machine to move lots of air, whether in a room or house or inside a computer or multimedia center, Female parent Nature requires some sort of mechanical activity that makes noise. Even on high, it's a reduce noise level than with typical air conditioners or cheapo fans. I've heard far worse, from products that didn't trade nearly as well.

But fan for home with strong air current
First off, this Vornado is the same measure and essentially the same as the 733B or 723B. The difference is how high off the ground it sits. One additional profit this one has over 733B is that there are slightly more angles you can point at but this is minor given how you use this air circulator. Of the 3, this one has the longest "end" so it can be more at chest/head level rather than on the ground.

This Vornado is a large size fan (air circulator as Vornado likes to call it). The overwhelm way to use this is to draw cool air in or out of the room by creating a vacuum near a window or door.

Also, it evenly cools the room by keeping a negligible breeze which makes it immediately feel a few degrees lower than still air.

This can be run near air conditioners or heaters to more evenly file the hot/cold air so people don't need to sit right by the heater or AC to feel the effects.

If you'll notice, this fan does not have a flagstaff stand nor does it swivel. As such, it is not meant to point directly at people. It's purpose to details in the general direction for cooling or as an air circulator.

Pros:
- Moves a lot of air
- Very durable
- Quiet for rate/amount of air movement
- Pleasing to look at

Cons:
- No timer
- Does not auto-rotate

Total:
- After using this for several months including summer and winter, I am highly pleased with it and would highly urge it to everyone. For the amount of air it moves, it is very quiet and does the job well.

Facts fan
I have two other Vornado fans that are 15 to 20 years old. This new one has a divergent speed indicator but performs just like the others. With the right positioning of the rubber rings on the lascivious, tipping can be minimized.

Overcome there is.....
I bought this fan because my 7 year old vornado started making some blare when I tried to angle it up, and we needed a fan (we have an old house and the central air just doesn't do much upstairs). This fan is absolutely great. It moves the air very well, and pushes the cold air up to the second floor. In fact, we now have the thermostat set 4 degrees higher when we go to zizz, and it is just fine. The price here is a bit high, as we bought ours at a local store with a 20% off coupon for much less. I would have inclined this a notch under 5 stars because there are only two levels you can set the height to, and I thought it was more adjustable. However, it is very quiet, and the only real blasting you hear is the amount of air that is being moved. I bought a couple of fans at home depot for less money and they are cast aside compared to this. Are there better fans, perhaps, but I have not found one. Am I happy with this one, yes, very much. Would I recommend it? In a heartbeat. My old one still runs, I just stress to tighten something...I think. I don't expect anything to last a lifetime anymore. I threw away the box, but it either has a 5 or lifetime commitment. I cannot remember which. Either is fine with me. I can't imagine someone not being very happy with the performance of this fan.

sufficient fan
The Vornado 530L is a yard goods little fan. My family owns two of them. We enjoy using them in the bedrooms as a means to cirlutate air and also manufacture a soothing sound that masks sounds from outside.
