Soleus small
Fair much does what it is advertised to do. I solved the drain pan problem by tubing it out the wall in a permanent create with a combination of tygon tubing and aluminum tubing so that it will self drain.

Superior I've owned
Before buying a light air conditioner, it helps to understand what you can expect and not expect from it. There is no way it will provide the cooling of central air, ductless air or even a in effect good window unit. I have owned all of these and speak from experience. However, when you move into a condo with all kinds of restrictions about what can be unmistakeable from the exterior or constraints on the architectural structure, then the portable is the best answer.
I have owned 4 of these and three dissimilar brands. My condo has three separate major spaces, 2 smaller for bedroom set and office/den. The main living space is larger than the max recommended for any 120 volt unit, and that is where I now have the Soleus LX140.
The two smaller spaces are refrigerated with GE 10,000 BTU units that I have had for 5 years. HE quit making these units the year after I bought them They are soundlessness and have held up and keep the spaces in the upper 70s when the ambient temperature is in the mid 90s.
I used to have and Edgestar in the main space. I endure in the Seattle area so only need the cooling about 2 months a year, and then not every day. The Edgestar was the worst component I have ever owned. It was the noisiest unit and it quit in the middle of the second season. I called the industrialist in Texas and they said it only had a 90 day warranty. They also said they had no service reps in the Pacific NW and couldn't relieve. After lengthy searching, I found one person who said they fixed them. After spending over $300, it still didn't profession. The service tech said he would take it to the shop and return it in "New Condition." That was a year ago and I have never seen him or the piece again.
So I bought the Soleus. I found a dealer in Portland where I knew I could get to if needed. The manufacturer is in California, I can get there pretty conclusively too. Also, the Soleus has a 1 year warranty. I ordered the unit and it was delivered in 7 days. I set it up immediately but found that you had to use the remote to tell on a turn to on the fan oscillator. It had to be the receiver or the transmitter, but I didn't know how to tell. I called the dealer, and within a few hours I got a call back from the industrialist. They said they would send a new remote. If it still didn't work, they would send a label and an RMA. I got the remote in three natural life and everything worked.
The Soleus runs about 10 db quieter than the Edgstar. My main living space is oversizrd with 594 settled feet and with partial cathedral ceilings giving about 5565 cubic feet. I am on the top minimum, facing southwest with ceiling to floor glass across the entire space. Without any AC, the space has reached 110 degrees when it was 95 surface in the late afternoon. Also, there are no opening windows or sliding doors, so I am venting the unit up the fire post flu.
This week we had three days in the 90's. When it reached 98 degrees outside, the Soleus maintained the space at 81. When the temperature reached 85 today, the Soleus maintained the space in the mid 70s.
CONS: The only con I have at this prong is that the fan oscillation is vertical instead of side to side. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning for that. Cold air settles and hot air rises so a persistent upward blast that oscillated die to side makes better sense to me. My GEs do that very effectively.
As for evaporation, I have had it management for fiv continuous days without a drop of water coming from the drain. Of course the Seattle yard has relatively low dew points. In areas like the midwest, east coast or south east, there may be more of a stew.
The next test will be longevity as to how long it will hold up. However, at this time, the Soleus LX140 has proven to be the best piece of its type that I have used and I am very impressed with the technical service assistance of the manufacturer.

Soleus LX-140 transportable air conditioner
I have had the LX-140 for a few months now. I end in a 700 square foot apartment. While my apartment is MUCH larger than the BTU rating on the unit, the LX-140 has proven itself to be a celebrated work horse in cooling my apartment. Since a BTU rating of 12,000 BTU is only expected to properly unwelcoming about 450 square feet, I have been amazed at how cold the LX-140 has gotten my place. With the factually that the unit can be programmed to shut down and start up when you want it to (a great power saver, and abundance feature) I would HIGHLY recommend this unit to anyone who is seriously looking for a reliable machine that will forgather their needs. While I cannot say that if you put the LX-140 in a oversized room, it will always cool it to your liking, I can say with great confidence that placed in a 450 satisfying foot place it would do VERY well.

Soleus - don't dismay away your money
I paid $600 for Soleus PH4-12R carriable a/c + heatpump. I was very happy for about three months, seemed to perform to specs. I even posted a very favorable review. But then it revealed it's stable colors.
After about 3 months the blower developed a rubbing or bearing noise, transforming the piece to near intolerable.
After 5 months the unit simply went dead, not even any lights on the tiller. Yes, wall outlet has power.
Soleus warranty requires me to ship unit two directions to CA for covenant service. Troublke is, warranty does not cover shipping. After an estimate to pack for shipping = $50, and shipping the 100# module two directions by UPS for $150 each, my "warranty" repair is $350. They have no service centers except their factory.
If I ferry back, I will have invested $950 in this unit which has already proven it has no reliability. And there is no guarantee that they will not find some arcane reason to honor the commitment, despite my outlay for shipping.
The warranty is a complete ripoff since they use no standard national network - a key debatable when you think a large item has a good warranty. Ask to be sure before purchase.
STAY To another place FROM SOLEUS!
