Customer Reviews

cheap, quiet heat source
Fondness this heater, but would rather the wheels had been sturdier -- I've "run it off the rails" a few times. Obviously not really meant to go from area-to-room, but terrifically economical. A clean, warm heat source.
Soleus Air HM1-10-32 Ultra Thin Micathermic Heate
This is a huge heater. Heat rises from the top and the sides are not hot to the touch. Great when there are children and pets around.
Does NOT Last!!!
This wood stove only worked for a total of about 60 hours. Apparently Soleusa Air makes their items VERY chintzy.
Stingy and Effective
We have had this stove-top for a year and a half and primarily use it to heat the bedroom when the main furnace goes to a low stage set for the night. However, because it is so light, we can use it where needed. This heater is very effective and in the ECO setting at 500 watts it doesn't increasing the electric bill so you can notice it. It's quiet, and the radiant head feels great. Good heating from both sides except when the area gets near the temperature setting as the ECO setting turns one side off. Nice heat also comes from the top of the constituent. The new smell when it was new disappeared after a number of uses so there was no problem there either. Rate it a 5.
Unsatisfactorily made
This is a documentation heater, but it is poorly manufactured. The screws for the feet are not made properly. Each of the two heaters that I have purchased has one foot that keeps falling off.

Soleus small
Fair much does what it is advertised to do. I solved the drain pan problem by tubing it out the wall in a permanent create with a combination of tygon tubing and aluminum tubing so that it will self drain.
Superior I've owned
Before buying a light air conditioner, it helps to understand what you can expect and not expect from it. There is no way it will provide the cooling of central air, ductless air or even a in effect good window unit. I have owned all of these and speak from experience. However, when you move into a condo with all kinds of restrictions about what can be unmistakeable from the exterior or constraints on the architectural structure, then the portable is the best answer.

I have owned 4 of these and three dissimilar brands. My condo has three separate major spaces, 2 smaller for bedroom set and office/den. The main living space is larger than the max recommended for any 120 volt unit, and that is where I now have the Soleus LX140.

The two smaller spaces are refrigerated with GE 10,000 BTU units that I have had for 5 years. HE quit making these units the year after I bought them They are soundlessness and have held up and keep the spaces in the upper 70s when the ambient temperature is in the mid 90s.

I used to have and Edgestar in the main space. I endure in the Seattle area so only need the cooling about 2 months a year, and then not every day. The Edgestar was the worst component I have ever owned. It was the noisiest unit and it quit in the middle of the second season. I called the industrialist in Texas and they said it only had a 90 day warranty. They also said they had no service reps in the Pacific NW and couldn't relieve. After lengthy searching, I found one person who said they fixed them. After spending over $300, it still didn't profession. The service tech said he would take it to the shop and return it in "New Condition." That was a year ago and I have never seen him or the piece again.

So I bought the Soleus. I found a dealer in Portland where I knew I could get to if needed. The manufacturer is in California, I can get there pretty conclusively too. Also, the Soleus has a 1 year warranty. I ordered the unit and it was delivered in 7 days. I set it up immediately but found that you had to use the remote to tell on a turn to on the fan oscillator. It had to be the receiver or the transmitter, but I didn't know how to tell. I called the dealer, and within a few hours I got a call back from the industrialist. They said they would send a new remote. If it still didn't work, they would send a label and an RMA. I got the remote in three natural life and everything worked.

The Soleus runs about 10 db quieter than the Edgstar. My main living space is oversizrd with 594 settled feet and with partial cathedral ceilings giving about 5565 cubic feet. I am on the top minimum, facing southwest with ceiling to floor glass across the entire space. Without any AC, the space has reached 110 degrees when it was 95 surface in the late afternoon. Also, there are no opening windows or sliding doors, so I am venting the unit up the fire post flu.

This week we had three days in the 90's. When it reached 98 degrees outside, the Soleus maintained the space at 81. When the temperature reached 85 today, the Soleus maintained the space in the mid 70s.

CONS: The only con I have at this prong is that the fan oscillation is vertical instead of side to side. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning for that. Cold air settles and hot air rises so a persistent upward blast that oscillated die to side makes better sense to me. My GEs do that very effectively.

As for evaporation, I have had it management for fiv continuous days without a drop of water coming from the drain. Of course the Seattle yard has relatively low dew points. In areas like the midwest, east coast or south east, there may be more of a stew.

The next test will be longevity as to how long it will hold up. However, at this time, the Soleus LX140 has proven to be the best piece of its type that I have used and I am very impressed with the technical service assistance of the manufacturer.
not again
:
I bought 1 of these soleus worked for 1 summer, then no more phlegmatic air sent it back cost 100 dollars. they sent me a new 1 didn`t work, had to send that 1 back still waiting on that 1. O ya it was 11 months 21 duration old thank god there was a hot day or who nows what great things might have happen if I waited 10 more days. bought a two year guarantee, can`t wait to see how that works because i bought 2 of them at air & water hpoe its not as bad as I`ve heard. the other 1 works great, so far.If it breaks Ill precisely junk it. Not doing that again. O ya the broken 1 is a LX 140 the other is a LX 120
O ya the heater never worked on the LX 140. All said I like them alot i don`t have some big possession sticking out my window and i can look out my window with out standing on my tip toes.
Soleus LX-140 transportable air conditioner
I have had the LX-140 for a few months now. I end in a 700 square foot apartment. While my apartment is MUCH larger than the BTU rating on the unit, the LX-140 has proven itself to be a celebrated work horse in cooling my apartment. Since a BTU rating of 12,000 BTU is only expected to properly unwelcoming about 450 square feet, I have been amazed at how cold the LX-140 has gotten my place. With the factually that the unit can be programmed to shut down and start up when you want it to (a great power saver, and abundance feature) I would HIGHLY recommend this unit to anyone who is seriously looking for a reliable machine that will forgather their needs. While I cannot say that if you put the LX-140 in a oversized room, it will always cool it to your liking, I can say with great confidence that placed in a 450 satisfying foot place it would do VERY well.
Soleus - don't dismay away your money
I paid $600 for Soleus PH4-12R carriable a/c + heatpump. I was very happy for about three months, seemed to perform to specs. I even posted a very favorable review. But then it revealed it's stable colors.

After about 3 months the blower developed a rubbing or bearing noise, transforming the piece to near intolerable.

After 5 months the unit simply went dead, not even any lights on the tiller. Yes, wall outlet has power.

Soleus warranty requires me to ship unit two directions to CA for covenant service. Troublke is, warranty does not cover shipping. After an estimate to pack for shipping = $50, and shipping the 100# module two directions by UPS for $150 each, my "warranty" repair is $350. They have no service centers except their factory.

If I ferry back, I will have invested $950 in this unit which has already proven it has no reliability. And there is no guarantee that they will not find some arcane reason to honor the commitment, despite my outlay for shipping.

The warranty is a complete ripoff since they use no standard national network - a key debatable when you think a large item has a good warranty. Ask to be sure before purchase.

STAY To another place FROM SOLEUS!

still working after 6 years
Have had this oil-burning stove for 6 years now and have used it a lot. Much of that time it has been working every winter evening on a small landing where the animate it produces on the high setting boosts the temperature of adjacent rooms, allowing me to keep the gas oven thermostat set significantly lower.

Prior to locating it there, I kept it at the foot of my bed to turn on via the secluded before I got up on cold mornings. It was like a hot comforting little sun -- very pleasant.

My cat adores roasting for hours in front of it every evening. On specifically cold days, I leave it on for her for an hour or two in the low setting. She enjoys it more than her heated cat bed.

The tip-over shut-off does m (suggest avoiding heaters that don't have this critical safety feature).

The timer is also a very good feature -- very handily set for up to several hours at time in 15 minute increments.

Disburse a bit more for this model with the stand
I'm enchant with this heater!

The extra $25 or so is worth it for the telescoping stand. That way you can keep the footprint on the floor, not on a escritoire's valuable real extate. Radiant heat is more efficient since it heats objects, not air as convection heaters do.

This segment is also light enough to move easily from a cold garage work area to a cold office district with ease. The included remote (you were just HOPING for another remote, right?) allows repressive ALL functions -- 7.5 hr. max timer, swing, or HI/ LO heat -- without bending down to floor above-board buttons to do so.

I've found the 400 watt low setting perfectly adequate, but I can think of nights the 800 watt considerable setting might be a Good Thing. At 400 watts, I'm as comfortable or more so than with my old 1350 watt convection space range. I feel confident in the tip-over safety shut-off system, although the unit's body does heat up on the lofty setting.

The only negative about this heater is its brightness, which can be distracting if it's placed in front of you. But care with placement solves this adequately easily.

Highly recommended.
