Rest between F232025 and F273400
There are currently two conceivably identical models listed on Amazon, the F232025 and the F273400. I contacted the manufacturer and verifed that the F232025 is the newest construction. The F273400 was manufactured through 2008. For this reason, I'd recommend purchasing the F232025. It's also cheaper.

Please be understanding enough to indicate if reviews are helpful.
Mr. Heater Companion Rocks.
We utilized it camping in a tent and it kept the tent in the 60's while it was in the 30's outside! My wife will never whinge about camping again.
Encomiastic heater
Bought a heater to keep us mellow while buddies and I ice fish while the lakes are frozen here in Colorado. I was torn between this Buddy heater and the bigger mock-up, the Big Buddy heater, but decided this smaller one would work fine. It does the job nicely, when we are in our ice fishing tent we sprain it on and it heats it up nicely. The only thing I wish this model had was a fan blower like the bigger example has, because most of the heat it produces goes straight up. It might be worth it just to buy the bigger model so you can have the fan blast c enlarge the hot air on you. This thing does produce some serious heat though, if you put your hands too close to it they will start to burn after a few seconds.

I also bought a Mac Coupler to go along with this heater, this lets you replenish the 1LB propane bottles from your 20LB gas grill propane bottle so you won't have to throw the 1LB propane bottles somewhere else. I would suggest for anybody that uses the 1LB propane bottles to buy a Mac Coupler, just search for it on amazon and know the reviews for it. It will save you alot of money!

Some other reviewer from Colorado on here said this does not employment that great at high altitudes, but I live in Colorado as well, and I have used this heater at several lakes ice fishing including Antero Reservoir (8900 ft. increase) and 11 Mile Reservoir (8600 ft. altitude) and the heater has worked fine. I guess it well-founded doesn't work at the really super high altitudes like 10,000 ft. and above.

Mr. Heater Barely Buddy
I spend in Colroado. We just got finished camping with the Boy Scouts. We camped at roughly 10,000 feet. I got the heeater because I thoughtfulness it was going to keep the tent warm. Wrong! It doesn't workd above 7,000 feet. I skilled this little tid bit AFTER I had purchased itfrom the salesman in the camping department at Bass Pro. Who makes a heater, sells it in Colorado to the camping/fishing/hunting make available and it won't work above 7,000 feet? We froze our ashes off. Be careful of what you buy and read all the fine wording. You would think that if it was sold at a Colorado outdoors store that it would work ABOVE 7,000 feet.

Very Let Down!
NOT FOR INDOOR USE!!
I ordered this matter after researching online for efficiency and price. I intended to use it as emergency heat for my small domestic. However, when I received the heater and took out the user's manual, I was immediately warned, in at least 3 areas on the cover announce alone, the this heater was NEVER to be used indoors in a house, camper, or EVEN A TENT! I never saw any warning in the product description online, and several reviewers even mentioned that they use the heater in their tellingly. BEWARE! It is no doubt a fine product, used properly. But: IT IS NOT FOR INDOOR USE!

Outdoorsman / Professonal
The superior and most effecient heater that I've ever used. The added little feature of having a blower fan really adds a attractive overall touch to the heater. I borrowed the smaller version from a friend and decided to go with the larger part. I'm very pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone!!
Big Friend
Famed little heater! This thing puts out a lot of heat. I bought it for a backup when the power goes out but I've been using it a lot well-grounded to knock the chill off. I keep the heat pump set pretty low which is fine when I'm up moving about but when I sit down to read or skinned for tv it is a little cool. I fire this thing up for a little while to warm the room and I don't have to turn the heat inspire up and heat up the whole house. I also bought one for my cabin.

Not the upper crust price
I would like to buy this but Cabellas has it for $119, I don't breathe close to there but would be worth the trip
Not bad, but exigency to work on assembly quality
I bought this segment to heat my 480 sq/ft insulated garage with 10ft ceilings so that I could work on my car during the winter. Technically the component might be a little undersized for such a space, but then again I'm not looking for 70 degrees, just to get it bearable. I bought the section with the quick connect low pressure hose to connect to a 20lb LP tank.

Setting up the unit is very comfortable, especially with the quick connect. It takes a minute or two to purge the air out of the lines, after that the ignition should be talented to light the pilot, which it did. Unfortunately, despite holding the pilot down for over a minute to make certain the thermocouple was up to temperature, the pilot would immediately go out. I figured the thermocouple was working, so by process of murder I determined that the tilt switch was either bad or disconnected.

To get to the tilt switch you have to completely disassemble the item. Start by removing the 4 screws from the back cover, push the cover straight up to disconnect the hooks at the top and then pop it off. Slaughter the 3 screws securing the back of the handle. Remove the screw holding the handle to the left side jingle (looking from the back), remove the left screw holding the metal face, remove the fist screw holding the 2 plastic pieces together, remove the left screw holding the bottom of the metal dial to the plastic side. The side piece will them rotate off from back to front. From there you should have clear access to the tilt switch, which I could immediately see was unintelligible. An attempt had been made to hold it with silicon from the factory, but the silicon was not correctly applied or not given but to set. Reconnected the switch and did a test lighting in the partially disassembled state and all was good. Screen the unit off before it gets warm and reassemble.

Now that my unit was actually working I could fire it up and put it to the test. It throws off a capable amount of radiant heat on high, you don't want to stand too close for too long. It got my garage that was around 40 degrees up to around 60 degrees in about an hour on a 25 scale day. I'm happy with that performance. I'm running the fan with batteries for now, but will probably get an AC adapter.
kilosam
I can't in actuality reccomend the big buddy for use if youneed more than just a couple of hours. I needed heat in my garage for a weekend forward more than six hours to heat a °30 garage to a comfortable temprature. It Puts out about the same Btu's as my old kerosene heater so i bought it. I didn't even tizzy with the 1lb canisters because i needed more than three hours and throw aways tanks are expensive and i think ecologically a wordless idea so i got the filter and the hose and a 20lb refillable. the manual dosent state which side to hook it to so i justified chose one. the big buddy has two ceramic tiles in the front on low and medium only one of these ignite the second tile only comes on on the huge setting, at least thats how mine worked. Low and medium worked just fine but the high frame worked for about two minutes then both tiles started to flutter. i shut it down checked all my connections made unfailing the tank was open and tried again, Same thing never could get it to work on high.
From some of these reviews i get the feeling i could have corrected the refractory by getting another tank, and hose, and filter and hooking up both sides. but then i would have invested in two $15. hoses, two $35. tanks and two $9. filters in appendage to the cost of the heater, plus the hoses have to be ran outside to the tanks because your not supposed to have the tanks inside the structure meaning you have to keep a door or window open or drill holes in your walls to run the hoses.
no thanks, I took it all back.

Description

This is a 12' hose with a built in regulator that will fasten the Mr. Heater Big Buddy to a twenty pound propane tank. The regulator on this hose allows the hose to go the regulator in the Big Buddy by connecting to the quick-disconnect fitting on the Big Friend instead of the screw-in connection. This hose gives you 1/2 PSI through the hose at any settled time instead of 100 PSI that other hoses provide. This provides much safer situation should a leak in your hose occur.

Produce information from Mr. Heater company
I was flummoxed about the hose options so I contacted Mr. Heater to get the scoop. I have not actually used the hose myself (so the 4 star was inconsistent...seems like this is the way to go, tho'), but I wanted to share what the company said. (Please note that the fallout manuals for the Mr Buddy heaters are available on their website at the specific product link). My monogram question and the company response follow, including the contact info for the company rep that sent me the message:

Initial question to Mr. Heater:
amazon.com advertizes that the plasticizer-free green hose(f273704) can be acclimatized with both the portable buddy and big buddy, but I don't see it listed in the big buddy manual. Is it compatible with both? Also, is the quick sever hose (F271803) compatible with both the big buddy and the portable buddy? Does this hose command use of a fuelfilter? If no, why not? Is it made of materials that will not degrade like the f273704 hose?

Response from Mr. Heater:
When you connect any of our Pal model heaters to a remote propane tank, that tank can have over 120 PSI of pressure inside it.
This important pressure in the rubber hose connected to the heater can squeeze a plasticizer or an oil out of the rubber in the hose and once it gets into the heater it is trapped and will push up the tubes and cause the heater to be an unreliable unit.

We came up with a fuel filter to prevent this saponaceous substance from getting into the heater when using a high pressure hose.

The hose manufacturers came up with a hose that doesn't have the plasticizers in it so NO cheesecloth is needed (our part number for this plasticizer hose is F273704).
BUT the draw back with this hose is with no plasticizers in the rubber it causes the hose to be very unyielding especially in cold weather. So you don't need the filter but you have to work with a hose that doesn't like to straighten out or is more burdensome to work with because of this stiffness.

As far as the hose with the quick coupler, this is only available to be used on the Big Buddy MH18B heaters. The Big Friend has two built in regulators but also has a male quick coupler built-in that by-passes these two regulators so if you have a regulated propane hoard like in an RV or your house, you can use our hose to connect to this low pressure source (all low pressure is less than 1/2 PSI of affliction).

We also have a hose for the Big Buddy that has the quick coupler connection to the heater and a regulator at the connection to the propane tank, like on a barbeque grill.
Because the regulator is mounted as the crow flies to the propane tank it reduces the very high 110 PSI of pressure from the tank to the low 1/2 PSI compressing. Because this pressure is so low it will not be able to squeeze out the oily plasticizers from the rubber in the hose and does not indigence a fuel filter.

Mr. Heater Hose F271803
I gave this 1 personage as the mr. heater will have no propane hose degeneration protection without a compatable non-thread filter connected to the testy disconnect. Do not make the mistake of ordering the Mr. Heater Fuel Filter for the Portable Buddy and Big Companion Heaters #F273699 as Amazon suggests, it is NOT compatable!
Solid Value--Doesn't require a filter
This hose payout more than the one without the regulator. However, it has several advantages that have been confirmed by Mr. Heater (I called them):

1) The regulator keeps the pressure coming from the tank into the hose at a very low neck, which is safer.

2) You do NOT need to purchase a fuel filter with this hose. The regulator prevents oils from leaving the propane tank and entering your heater where it could do wreck. Although you pay more for this hose up front, you don't have to buy fuel filters periodically, which are required with the other hose that doesn't have the regulator.
Couldn't Find At District Retailers
We purchased the Mr Heater but couldn't find the hose with regulator at any of the retailers locally who sold the heater. We ordered and received it in principled a few days. It works great with the tank from our grill.Mr Heater MH18B Portable "Big Buddy" Heater
Mr. Heater Hose
This hose allows a 20 thump propane cylinder to be attached to the Mr. Heater thereby eliminating the need to purchase the small 1 pound cylinders. The hose was shipped momentarily and performs wonderfully. I would recommend it to anyone who wishes to avoid the necessity of swapping out the small 1 hammer cylinders.

Five Tips for Buying a Heater
Choosing a space heater is a implication of sifting through a bewildering array of types, power ratings, and stimulate sources. Let's break it down a little to make the process easier.

What are the unlike types of space heaters?

  • Radiant heaters emit infrared radiation that directly warms the objects in front of the heaters (rather than the circumjacent air). If you only need heat by a desk or in a small section of a room, a beatific heater is quiet and will use very little power.
  • Forced-air heaters use a fan to blow air that has been warmed by metal or terracotta heating elements. A forced-air heater is appropriate for quickly heating up a minute- to medium-sized room, but can be noisy.
  • Convection heaters draw brumal air from the floor; the air is warmed by heating coils and emitted from the top of the heater. A convection heater is becoming for quickly heating up a small- to medium-sized room, but also can be blaring.
  • Radiators work by heating oil enclosed in a reservoir, gradually heating the local air. If heating speed isn't an issue, you might want to opt for a radiator. These are extremely quietude and effective--perfect for bedrooms.

Should I buy an electric or a combustion model?
If you hunger a heater that will be available in emergencies, or that can heat areas larger than a single office, choose a "combustion" model--one that is powered by a gas or fuel like propane, kerosene, consonant gas, or diesel. Which fuel type you choose depends largely on ease of understanding and local availability. For example, diesel would be appropriate for a heater you take with you on long car trips.

How sturdy a heater do I need?
Heaters are rated by BTU, which stands for British Thermal Unit (the amount of zealousness needed to heat one pound of water by 1 degree F). To find out how many BTU you need:

  • Count the volume of the space to be heated by multiplying square footage by height.
  • Multiply that edition by 4 if your insulation is poor, 3 if it's average, or 2 if it's good.
The resulting several is a ballpark figure for how many BTU you'll need.

Do space heaters cost a lot to operate?
As a general overlook, electric space heaters are more expensive to use than combustion models. To ensure energy adeptness, a thermostat is a must-have feature for any heater. For radiant heaters, models with a 360 degree heating exterior can heat larger spaces. If you need a forced-air heater, models with stoneware elements tend to be more efficient.

Are space heaters a fire hazard?
Space heaters are implicated in about 25,000 residential fires every year. To make safe proper safety, always follow the manufacturer's usage instructions and fill out the covenant card to receive informational updates from the manufacturer. Also, look for surcharge safety features such as an automatic shutoff switch that can shut down the part if, for example, it gets upended. In addition, choose a model where the heating medium is adequately enclosed within the unit.

Mr. Heater MH12T (A Wonderful Product)
We bought two of these Heaters to vexed a 24'x30' Storage Garage, so water lines wounld not bust, during some common cold spells. They did the job!!! I highly recommend this product. Sincerely, Eddie Guerra
Replacement Mr. Heater
Our first Mr. Heater saw very much a lot of use over the years. This tank-top propane heater comes in handy for multiple uses, so we knew what we wanted. And, that's what we got......another well-founded product. We would recommend it as the best of its kind.
A extensive choice for a small area.
We use this when working in the garage with an disposed door. It doesn't heat the whole area, but if you stay in the flow of heat while working in lock proximity it is wonderful. For example, as we took down Christmas decorations from the outside, it enabled us to elevate d vomit them into the garage, put them in their containers, deflate those that needed it, and store them away while remaining warm while the face temp was in the teens.
Lover heater!
This is the best heater when camping! Loved sitting next to it while is rained!
Some belongings, some bad.
This aspect works great for an ice shanty or some other kind of tiny enclosed space but if you want to actually rouse an area, do yourself a favor and get a convection heater. This thing is a PITA to light and it's flimsy to say the least but you get what you pay for. I did manage to not frost to death while working in a garage years ago in the middle of our wisconsin winters (-10* to -30*) with it while bundled up in lots of snow clothing though. I'll be going with a 35k btu convection style this winter and passing this lil guy along to whoever needs it.

Pros-
It's cheap.
It kinda works.
Did I report that it's cheap?

Cons-
It makes things warm via infrared, not the area it's in, aka you move and you're cold.
MOST of the exhilaration heads straight up from it, not straight out.
It's fragile, don't toss it into the back of your truck because you'll bend tubes/etc.
If you alight above the 40* latitude line, get something better.

deft connect
The sharp connect works very well I had one on my baroque I add to my spare tank and set up my fathers tanks I like the fallout very much I would recommend it anyone
Works good-looking for light usage.
I would stand up for this if you have a very old grill with a quick release regulator: this adapter will allow you to hook your old grill up to a new touchstone tank. That said, I would not recommend this to someone who goes trough propane tanks on a weekly constituent as this adapter is not made to be mounted and dismounted easily or efficiently.
Mr. Heater Propane Gas Fleet Connect, F276330
Two years ago I purchased this Mr. Heater dexterous connect coupling F276330. Last week I discovered that the quick connect was leaking. I removed the adroit connect from the propane tank and discovered that the rubber O ring was broken. I called Mr. Heater's purchaser service and was advised that I had to replace the entire quick connect coupling adapter for $29.99 (the bond on this coupling is one year). According to Mr. Heater, the F276330 coupling is supposed to be a permanent swearing-in, so no separate parts, not even an O ring, are available. For the want of a ten cent O ring, the entire spry connect coupling adapter was lost!!!

garage use of propane heaters, like Mr. Heater?

Can I safely business in my garage with a propane heater if I keep the garage door open one inch and put the heater bordering to that one inch space? (It's a 35,000 BTU unit, if that affects any answers.)

You emergency 1 square inch of ventillation for every 1000 btu's. The other thing you exigency to be careful of is gasoline vapours when working in a garage...

Also, don't pull out it unattended!
