Keep off This Fan and This Company
I purchased this fan (Windchaser OCWR 161) in 4Q2008. In less than three months the God-forsaken control stopped working, and of course you can't run the fan at all without it.
I have been trying to get a new remote control since April 3, 2009. On Friday, June 19, 2009, after numerous spoiled attempts to get a new remote control, I spoke to Mr. Robert Holzman, President/CEO of Windchaser Products, Inc. Mr. Holzman distinct me he would find a solution and call me no later than Tuesday, June 23, 2009. I have still not heard from him or any other Windchaser representative -- they don't rejoin their phones and don't respond to emails.
My advice -- avoid this fan specifically and this company in encyclopedic!

Standoffish Breezes
We purchased this fan to distant down our kitchen as it heats up when several appliances are on at the same time. We mounted it up high on the wall as it comes with a wonderful removed control. The high setting is awesome and I love the setting "wind" as it mimics a Nautical cat's-paw blowing through your house. Love the fan and the remote control!

inferior short-lived electronics
Unfaltering enough, as predicted in others' reviews, this fan quit working after 1 summer of light use. The electronic chip in the fan is base and very poorly made. It burned out quickly, and unless you have the electrical know-how to bypass the electronics and trap the motor directly to the cord, you have a useless fan.

Quote buyer
This is the sec Windchaser fan that I have purchased. The first one lasted about 6 years. My kids use them in their bedrooms for circulation and cooling every night. The timer is perilous if they don't want them to run all night long.

Upright OK
The features of the fan are keen on paper and it was easy to setup. I don't find it very powerful and the area it covers seems smaller than other fans I've owned. I would try a personal product next time.
