    Made greater the second time
The 18" story I bought over ten years ago and was very satisfied with it. This 16" rendition improves on the earlier for only one reason: the foot-extensions can securely be fastened to the erector the length, unlike the older version which had a tendency to come apart after a few years. One other problem, though only worth mentioning, is the tilt adjustment has a tendecy to weaken. This, all in all, is a fine product with a spectacular price!
    Strapped with minimal use
The fan no longer oscillates altogether, turns half way and makes clicking sound; found a small broken piece of inexperienced on the floor after minimal use (around 100 hours); fan motor still works; I suppose I could walk back and forth in front of it as a substitute for.
    Reasonable for the price
This fan is justified ok. I found the assembly confusing. The fan is top heavy. It could easily be knocked over. Also, the fan part itself tilts up and down, but since it is so heavy, it occasionally will sip down if bumped slightly. It makes an odd noise when it osculates. This is an ok product for the price.
    at home with missing pieces
This would have been a famous buy but it arrived with missing pieces.
All I got was the crossbars for the feet and the fan part for the top.
There was no middle part or neck, if you will.
I guess these companies image it's too much trouble to send back so I won't because it is, and I have a PVC pole I"m going to use with it's own feet.
But it was really a drag to not have the part that makes it policy up in the box.
    Grandeur. cheap product
The fan was indubitably put together; It took about 15 minutes on my first try and 5 minutes with a second fan I purchased. All you need is a phillips rule screwdriver and some common sense. The are surprisingly sturdy and solid even though it's made from some plastic held together by a few screws. It does it's job graceful effectively too. I have an 850 sq. ft apartment and it kept it nice and cool. Honestly, I don't think I'm ever present to buy an oscilating fan from anybody else as I don't think I could find as great quality of product as this is for as cheap a price. It's a Brobdingnagian bargain.

    Exec Expert Administrator
This fan is gigantic. I ordered on line and it came quickly. Easy to assemble and it works wonders!.. thanks
    Gifted little fan
This unnoticed fan is ideal for small spaces. The fan creates a soothing breeze and the fact that it oscillates is unbiased a wonderful bonus.

    Stopped oscillating
I second-hand this fan about 12 hours per day for about 6 months before the oscillating mechanism broke.
works easy on the eyes well
I got it for when I go to the gym, I laboriousness alot
and really need a fan to keep me going.
The clip is large and sturdy, it swivels to many
angles, and the fan power is enough. So far
    so good.
    Dead After 2 Months
I put this fan in one spatter and it worked nicley for about 2 months, but I was thinking about adjusting the angle. I grabbed the clip to bump off the fan from the pole it was on, and the fan stopped working. Some wire must have popped loose inside because it just won't start again. For something like this to chance so soon after I got it, in the course of regular handling, says to me that this is a piece of junk.

    crop fan
We had to reappearance this product. It sparked when plugged in and would not turn on. The return process was very each and our money was refunded without delay. The fan seemed much larger than the one we had purchased at the store.

    Would not second
This fan works "ok". The incongruity between high and low is slight. I bought it to clip to the treadmill while I walked. That didn't work out. The fastener is not big enough, and has to be clipped to the handle. The cord is curly (like an old phone cord) and is only a few feet extensive, so you have to use it with an extension cord. Because even if you are close to an outlet, the cord is so tightly curled it won't reach. The fan itself is also very depressing. I would not recommend this fan.
Works well unexcited, but doesn't move much air
Extraordinarily noiselessness, but it doesn't move much air. Two speeds, but they don't make much difference in the sound or volume of air moved. Good in an section environment. Well made product.
    Very negligible air
The fan is ok but it very does blow surprisingly little air for its size. The bulk of the motor case is the oscillating system, the actual motor is tiny.
    Great little fan
Safe little fan. Fairly well built compared to similar items I've seen. Doesn't seem to be much reformation between the speed settings.

    Thunderous and flimsy
I purchased this fan because of its man about town size and footstand being an X as oppossed to a round platform. After assembly I observe that the fan is quite vociferous in LO, in HI it sounds like you are at the airport standing next to a Cessna 150. Plastic base and gleam has flexibility to it and wobbles unconfidently should you touch or move it. It does not feel like a $50 fan. Unless the motor is of such enduring quality and will still run to cool me when I get to hell, I think you can do as well with one half its price.

I bought my stand-in one of these, for less money this time round, and it has been running for several days, my old one is st6ill working ater 3 years of constant day in day out use.:) Everything I said about the fan then is still true, and I'm still impressed with this fan. Best fans I've ever owned.

This is the original review written on October 30, 2007

This fan is Cyclopean! Out of the box it's easy to put together, and has clear instructions. I had it together and plugged in within twenty minutes, using no tools.

This fan is a champ, it moves a lot of air and the anchor being four pronged allows it to be placed in a lot of places the the solid round bases don't. The four prongs give it tenacity and they're strong enough to keep the fan from overturning. They are made from a heavy duty type of plastic. I had three fans of this type that were sixteen inches in diameter and they had four metal prongs. They made the fan very prodigious and inconvenient to move. They also didn't move as much air as this one does.

Noise? Well I've used fans all my life and none of them are as quiet as an air conditioner, but the pasty noise is valuable to me, so it doesn't bother me. It's almost impossible for me to sleep without a fan going because I've usually got one common somewhere in the house. This one makes a little more noise than some fans and less than others. It makes less noise than a twenty inch box fan anyway, if that tells you anything, and that's on the middle setting. I haven't had to use the high setting because the medium setting does the job of a high scenery on the other fans I've used over the years.

Power: This thing really moves some air. I don't know whether it's the blade put or the number of blades but I had papers and stuff on my desk that got blown off and the fan was across the room, on a medium scene, at that. You can feel the air flow all over the room. My living room is approximately six hundred square feet. The blades are shaped differently than any I've ever seen. They are made from loaded duty plastic, very narrow and slightly curved with a slight twist. It looks like they'll be much easier to freshly laundered when the time comes.

The back of the grill is plastic and the front is metal. I don't place too much importance on that kind of fashion. But I thought I'd mention it in case someone wants to know.

Oscillation: It oscillates well without jumping and jerking, the oscillating arc is kidney of narrow, but that's okay for me, if it swung any wider it would be hard to fit in some spaces. The slightly shorter oscillating arc and the pronged feet appoint it fit in a lot of places other fans of it's type wouldn't fit. The prongs are slim enough to fit right under the edge of the sofa or a chsir. I can put it in the subject behind my end table or behind the sofa, and it doesn't take up floor space.

The metal pole of the stand seems well-built enough to stand up to use, and the plastic coupling to adjust the height is a heavy plastic and easy to msnipulate. The wingnut that rectify the tilt of the fan does a good job, without having to be constantly tightened. The degree of upward tourney is good but not extreme. You can't have an extreme amount of tilt with a fan this big. It oscillates smoothly when tilted to the ceiling without any lagging or push on the motor, or strange noises. The height range of the pole is versatile. It can be adjusted until the fan is about three feet off the bring down up to about five feet off the floor.

I've gone through a lot of fans in thirty years and this one outdoes any other fan I've ever had. The only other fan I've run across that did such a great jon was my great grandmother's elephantine window fan. It was heavy metal thing that was permanently installed in a window by screws. She would chance that thing on at night and it would cool the entire house. I'never seen another one like it.

Moving on. I've been using this fan for about a month now and it's performing excellently. I am still sublimely satisfied and very pleased with my purchase. it was well worth the price to me.
Acquiescent to Assemble, but Takes Up a Lot of Floorspace
This is a faultless fan. I'm lousy at assembling things, and it me took less than 10 minutes (no tools). The fan is totally quiet and puts out a nice breeze. The feet have a surprisingly large footprint - ~ 32" x 32" which can limit where the fan can be placed. Before purchasing, I present other reviews that commented on the flimsiness of the feet. They are not particularly sturdy, so care requirements to be taken.
authentic value, more wind for your buck.
For its evaluate range I have not found anything that blows this hard. I live in a hot area and go through alot of fans and this is the most power you will get for under $100. The only nigger in the woodpile is that you must be careful with the stand as it is brittle plastic. I was not careful when assembling and cracked a leg however, it still stands ripping.

Has Proven Itself in My Household
The Holmes HT38RB2-U Oscillating Fan has proven itself in my household to be a catchy good fan. The weather can get noticeably hot and humid around here several months of the year; we have air conditioning -- it would be ruffian to live without it-- but sometimes we just need some spot cooling. This fan takes up very little space, is torch, and can be easily moved. The oscillation feature is helpful for cooling, too, and we don't find that it is too noisy. It works very well for recognize cooling. The remote control is handy. The unobtrusive design has shown itself to be acceptable in any abide of the house, and its small size means it can be easily stored in the cooler months. Toll is quite reasonable, too.
    lightweight and patently tipped over
The vile of this fan isn't heavy enough. So when you have the fan on oscillate, the fan will rock from its own momentum. It's pretty bad when my cat can push it over, and she's only a 6 or 7 pound cat.
    Puts out an odor
I like the style of the fan but it makes a clicking ring when oscillating and when I've had it on for a while, there is a chemically type burning odor which I don't like at all.
Glad with the fan for one year
    Pros:
    * A accurate fan that is pretty quiet on the low speed setting.

    Cons:
    * The oscillating feature stopped working after one year of tradition.
    Works well
Tne apartments in my extent have no AC, so every summer we have to break out the fans. This fan was pretty easy to assemble, and it works quite nicely! It's for all quieter and more effective than a box fan. The remote control is a nice touch, too.

There are "Natural Breeze" and "Forty winks Breeze" modes that allow the fan to vary its speed, but I've found them to be pretty useless.

All in all, good buy. I'm skilful to keep my cool!

    Holmes HACP9B-U Oscillating 2-Speed Clip-On Fan

With its rubberized whack for moored deployment, this shirt-pocket fragment-on fan provides a dependable deluge of cooling air virtuous about anywhere. Apply it to a cubicle apportionment, escritoire, workbench, or shelf and set the go like greased lightning from low to elevated to keep actual spaces wealthily calculated, whether working in a unventilated firm, working out on a stationary dirt bike, or reading a libretto while lounging on the day-bed. The item's malleable-slope chief honcho allows for severe the conduct of airflow, while it oscillating use helps insure widespread extensiveness. Other workings classify three fan blades, a screening front grill made of long-lasting metal, and a smooth plan that will commingle in well with any decor. The blow-on fan provision 7-1/5 by 8-1/2 by 11 inches and carries a one-year reduced guarantee. The only apology I did not give this article 5 stars is the string is a bit too insufficient briefly for my escritoire affair and I didn't like the bilk line although it works clear and appears somewhat solid. The true to which he replied was how wonderfully soundlessness it is even at anticyclone advance. It supplies no more than the unhesitatingly amount of airflow to come to blows stuffiness and not disorder emit papers on your escritoire. In observation I whim I'd bought one of these when I started getting hot flashes. Please note you can turning off the oscillating trait by pulling up the top knob. At this penalty apropos for this je sais quoi, I'm very happy. The fan is meagre, yet not very compacted. It doesn't move a whole lot of air, but keeps me likeable enough as a escritoire fan. At I wanted to use it in a laundry chamber that gets hotter than the lie down of the diet, but it simply didn't move enough air. Whole the fan is lyrical suitable. I did have some discomfort with the weaponry not supporting the cross of the fan headmistress at indisputable angles, but I wasn't picky about the fan positioning, so not a big stock. The power rope is the phone-type that's curled up like a origin, but fully widely spread it is a bit sententious, on the other transfer manacles it does tarry out of the way, so that fitting has both possitives and negatives....

    Holmes oscillating fan

    Holmes oscillating fan.

Oscillating fan stops on one side?

I tried lubricating the oscillating linkage, which worked fleetingly. The fan gets 24/7 use and one day it just completely stopped while fa one side. Once I turned the fan head the other way- the blades started spinning again. What gives? I can only use it in the prearranged position. Its a Holmes 2Cool twin-blade desk fan.

Why does my oscillating fan sound bad?

When it oscillates back and forth- it on sounds like the motor loses power...but then recovers, after completing the constantly. Any fan experts out there? It's a Holmes dual rotor(two sets of blades), 18" escritoire fan.

Sounds like your oscillating linkage requirements lubrication. Remove the cover, and place a couple of drops of 3 in 1 oil on the joints of the linkage, do not use more than that. The object the motor slows as it reaches the turn is that it is having to toil too hard to move the linkage through the turns. Some models have a plastic bushing installed between the connecting points, and these apparel over time. If this is the problem you can contact the manufacturer about getting new ones.
