Works very unobtrusively, innaccurate humidity control
We purchased this de-humidifier based on cost and ease of moving, since it can live in the guest room until guests arrive, then quickly be infatuated to the basement.
Pros:
It's very quiet
It doesn't add too much to our power bill per month (between 10 and 20 dollars)
On max, it sucks a A-OK amount of water out of the air
Cons:
It fills up fast on high
It warms the room its in by about 5 degrees
The fan runs even when the its not removing wastefully from the air
The humidity sensor is very unreliable. Ours doesn't run, even when the humidiy is in excess of 75%, despite being labeled in the 50s and 60s. The only way we've found that it works regularly is to either have it set to "ON" or to have it powered down.
Complete, it meets our needs, but it would have been 4.5 stars if the humidity controls were accurate.
Surprisingly Reliable
Gargantuan machine. Proved to be well worht the cost.
First time with a dehumidifier. My basement smells much heartier!

Without equal
If I was rating based on the amount of damp this collects it would get 10 stars! Easy to use, collects a lot of water and easy (enough) to dump. When it's full I do end up spilling a bit of the highest but I'm very pleased with my purchase. We purchased this dehumidifier because we were getting spring tails in our bathtub. Springiness tails are attracted to humid locations. So we set this up in the laundry room under the bathroom and voila, no more introduce tails! I don't have a gauge to know how much the humidity has decreased but I'm very pleased with the lack of bugs in my bathroom :)
Quite the best on the market. Very quiet.
I am glad with my purchase.
Very well designed. Very, very QUIET comparing to other units on the market. Controls are easy, fundamental. Unit lack programming (on and off time) and it runs all the time unless maximum not be sensible level switch turns it off. It has a drain hose connection (hose not included). I am using it without flow from hose; not so hard to empty water bucket. In addition, it is interesting to see how much water ended up in the pail. It really performs as designed. When humid, it keeps my house at 50 -51% humidity supine. When you turn it on, in just a several minutes you will see Hygrometer i.e. humidity meter (buy it at eBay for up to 10 bucks) showing reduced humidity. It has a oversee and it is easy to carry it around.
It is great for the basements. My smelled, as you can imagine. Two nights later and three buckets of not work later it reduced moisture to 52%. It does not take more then several hours to reduce 75% humidity to 55%. The underground room is rather cold even in summer, unit does the work regardless.
The price was modest, $165, accessible shipping. Be patient and wait for this price. I will buy another unit to use it in the basement all the time.

Works Gargantuan! Much quieter than my last dehumidifer!
I have nothing but secure things to say about this dehumidifer. My old one was way to loud so I decided to get a new one. I am very happy with mine. I would really recommend this. The price is important and so if the product.

Got a VERY steamy basement dry quickly; even building supervisor noticed
We bought this to restore a smaller LG dehumidifier that worked fine in our old house, with a walk-out basement (and which didn't even be short of a sump pump, because of the location). Our new house had a damp basement, sump pump, and we were even opening to see some mold on some woodwork. Our 45-pint LG just couldn't handle it. I did a lot of research, and narrowed the choices to the Soleus or Danby. I muse on the final decision came down to shipping. Anyway, this thing WORKS!!! When I plugged it in, our crypt was at 85% - 90% humidity, and the Soleus had it down to 60% within about 2 weeks. It plateaued there for a while, because it's a new basement in an area with a high mineral water table, and the new basement walls (cinder block) have moisture in them. Anyway, by now--about a month or so later--our humidity is down to 50%. I can't expansion on the cycling issues others have had, because we leave it running 24/7 on the highest setting, just to dry out our crypt. We lost our power the other day, and when the power came back on, the unit came back on at the same setting.
Our building chief stopped by for our 45-day walkthrough, and said that we had the driest new basement--lack of humidity or mildewy odor--that he had seen. He wanted to remember what we were using so that he could recommend it to other homeowners who were having trouble getting their basements to dry out.
Just 1 con: We use this with a hose that goes into a take away, but somehow it drips enough to fill the bucket after about 2 to 3 weeks. I'm not going to take a star off for that, because it may be the washer in the piece of hose we're using. The trickle is a good idea, but running 24/7 causes it to need cleaning (just drenching it off) about every 2 to 3 weeks, and the unit shuts off if the filter needs cleaning (you can always just press the "pursue" button).
The noise doesn't seem bad. It makes a sort of loud fan noise, just a whoosh, but no motor noise. But we keep it in a basement that's only used for storage.
And if you run it 24/7 on high, it will increase your electricity bill. I can't say how much lower ours would have been, because the A/C has also been on during the summer. But for the volume of air it moves, and how dry our basement is--90% to 50% in about a month and no more yeast within a day or two!!!--it's worth it.

Employment house
I presume from the reviews of many dehumidifier before I purchased. Under advise to purchase as large a unit as you can afford because it would take less all together and energy to removed the moisture from the air I purchased this unit and I may have purchased too large of a unit. This section works very quickly in a 1200 square foot basement. It has a 2 hour and a 4 hour setting which is a very good feature. The unit will continue to run once the desired level of humidity has been reached so I use the timer settings. First things purchases of dehumidifier show be aware that all units are noisy and give off heat. I haven't had any experience with other dehumidifiers but I decipher online blogs and reviews before I purchased; which said this unit was not as loud as some of the other brands. The omnium gatherum bin is sturdy and has a handle which helps when carrying a full bin of water.

Stoped working after one seasion - slipshod customer service response
I have the Soleus DPI-50-03, which is indistinguishable to this model, though with a slightly lower daily capacity. I purchased it in early June 2009 for use in our subterranean vault. During the summer of 2009, it seemed to work properly. At the end of the summer, and with the drop in humidity, it was packed in a different place in its original box/styrofoam until this (2010) summer. After taking it out and plugging it in, it did not work. The fan works, but the compressor does not, so no be unfeasible is collected.
I contacted Soleus customer service and while they were very cordial, basically told me "sorry, nothing we can do. We make attractive you take it to an A/C technician". Based on that response, I wrote a letter to the president of the company but never received a retort.
So basically, I spent ~ $200 for a machine that worked about 3 months, and will probably need another $100 in repairs with no oath that it will ever work properly.
I would not recommend this company nor their products.

distinguished product!
Very cock-a-hoop with the soleus air 70 pint dehumidifier. It made quick work of the damp basement issue. The hose adapter works excessive with a standard garden hose to the sump pump outlet. It is simple to set up and get running, not reliable about longevity yet as I've only had it for a month but it's been worth it's weight in gold so far!!

Works superlative, not noisy, no problems, not super energy efficient
Opposite from other reviewers, I think this device works great. Being an engineer, I measured the temp outlook out of the cooler at 57 degrees F, while it was 80 in the house and 90 outside. One thing to note about my over again, I live in Denver where the air is typically very dry during the summer (20% humidity). Thus, I don't expect to have any of the condensation or ditch-water problems other in more humid climates might have. I live in a 1000 sq Ft house and it keeps it quite distant. I give it 4 stars, and not 5 because there is one issue. When I set the temperature, the unit does turn off the compressor when the desired temperature is reached, but it doesn't revolve off the fans. This wastes energy. But even worse, the fan that blows the hot air outside is still on also (although it's not blowing hot air anymore since the compressor is off). What this means is that it's blowing my delightfully cold house air outside, and thus hot air from the outside has to replace the lost cold air from inside. This is a elephantine energy waster. I wish that it would just turn off (or at least turn off the outside venting fan) when the desired temperature has been reached, rather than no more than turning off the compressor. I haven't tried out the heat pump feature yet, because it's still summer. All in all, I like the section. it keeps the house cool, which is what really matters.
Very failed.
So, I will open this review by saying that, yes, this unit pumps out a TON of cool air, which is what it is supposed to do.
However, there is a MAJOR design damage. There is no "auto" mode for the fan. Yes, you can set the thermostat to the temperature you prefer and it will turn off the A/C compressor. The major poser, though, is that the thermostat does not control the fan.
What this means is that you end up having the fan on 100% of the time. This means electrical use and noise 100% of the time, not just when you need it. Since I purchased the unit for use in a server range, that means we're stuck with 24/7/365 fan.
I called Soleus and confirmed that every one of their A/C units has this "feature".
I would not have bought the module if I had known that.

I bought 4 of these units and each one sucks
I purchased 4 of these units for a rental real estate I own. Each one leaked water extensively. I opened the units up and the nozzle where the water collected was indeed broken off. I repaired myself, however, I have since purchased other units that do not have any water issues and keep the same space much cooler. Whatever you do do not buy these units.

Elevated, versatile appliance for any season
Notwithstanding all the negative reviews of this unit on Amazon.com, I found several other positive reviews elsewhere on the internet, and so I decided to give it a try. I'll grant I was skeptical as to how this unit would perform, especially since it seemed to be much less expensive than other 12,000 BTU units AND it included fervour pump functionality. That being said, I am quite pleased with its performance so far.
After the terrible process of having to revenue a damaged portable AC unit of another brand just a week earlier, I was relieved to see when this one indoors at my door in rather robust packaging. Lifting it out of its "easy open" outer box and inner cardboard crate, I was adept to observe its features in person for the first time. The multi-color display is a nice have a bearing on; the bright VFD display provides simple animations of the unit's current function, as well as a elementary clock (used for setting the on/off timer), and the current temperature setting. The remote master sits in a holster on the back of the unit. I found the remote to be a bit bland, with all the buttons but the power button the same estimate and no distinction of the most frequently used buttons (i.e. temperature, mode) from the less frequently used extras (i.e. drop mode, Celsius/Fahrenheit setting). The use of the remote is limited anyways since the display on the segment sits facing upward, preventing you from seeing what you are doing unless you are hovering above it.
Instatement is pretty straightforward. The user's manual includes several photographs of the installation process, which doesn't disagree much from any single-hose portable AC on the market. You simply screw the hose into the adapters and stick the adapters onto the back of the unit and onto the adjustable panel which you close in your window.
So now the important part: how it works. I found the item to perform quite well. The AC function is plenty cool, and with three fan settings, you can adjust the level of result (and noise) to the current conditions. The heat pump also works well, and I was impressed with the fact that the segment waits to start blowing air into the room until the heat pump has begun generating emotional air. That way, on a cold winter's day you won't get a rush of cold air in your face while the unit starts up. After your set temperature is reached, the section shuts down completely (including the fan). Perhaps handy for some people is an auto mode which automatically heats if the temperature is below 68°F, dehumidifies if the temperature is between 68°F and 80°F, and cools if over 80°F. There also is an oscillation put into the limelight which helps circulate the air into the room.
As others have said, this AC unit is not super quiet. While in fan-only mode, the bedlam is minimal, but while heating, cooling, or dehumidifying, the exhaust fan in the back of the unit adds a considerable amount more. While nobody will be fooled into idea a jet is landing, some may find it difficult to sleep with the unit in the room if it is doing anything but circulating air.
Just another adept note about draining the water bucket... be prepared to empty it no less often than most air conditioning units, regardless of what the industrialist claims it can evaporate through the hose. I also agree with others who have said that the drainage plug is really parsimonious to the ground, so you may want to place it on a hard surface or elevate it slightly to assist in the drainage prepare. You do get a short hose and drip pan in the box to help you empty the moisture into a larger pan, but you may want to keep a towel deft as well.
Overall, this air conditioner/heat pump unit is a economical choice if you need all-time comfort in an area of your home. Various room-size estimations abound, some even rating this component up to 500 sq. ft. My suggestion is that you use this unit for no more than a single large room, as you will probably see much worse discharge if you try to heat or cool an entire floor with it. But for supplemental heating or cooling, you really cannot go inexpedient with the Soleus Air PH3-12R-03.
Fantabulous for 1 room
We have an adventitious room over the garage that we spend alot of time in but it's hotter than the other rooms so we used fair-minded about every brand you see sold. None of them worked well until we tried the Soleus. It is the only one with really COLD air coming out, it can cool down the lodge fast. Only downside is it is a little loud but dosnen't bother me that much. Love Soleus.

Soleus LX140
We have employed this unit to air condition a room without central HVAC. It has worked very well. We will be testing its ability to vehemence this area this winter.....and I suspect it will work great.
Bad Archetype Bad Choice
We have this constituent now and it has been a nightmare. We brought this unit only to recieve a unit that was not working properly. The unit's flaunt gave out error codes and started shutting off after a few hours. I contacted the customer bear and was told the unit was defective and to return it from where we purchased the unit. I called the company and they were to some nice about it. They gave me a RMA number and sent out another unit. We recieved the new unit a week later unpacked it and installed it within the hour it here only to find out that this unit was dead on arrival. I called the company and complained and they told me when they recieved the other two units back they would send a third piece. We now have the third unit and we spent more time mopping the floor than anything. I do not reccommend this machine or any products from this guests. The odds of getting two bad machines are bad enough let alone three. This company really gives portable air conditioners a bad name.
Soleus handy
Tolerably much does what it is advertised to do. I solved the drain pan problem by tubing it out the wall in a permanent the latest thing with a combination of tygon tubing and aluminum tubing so that it will self drain.
Most outstanding I've owned
Before buying a little air conditioner, it helps to understand what you can expect and not expect from it. There is no way it will provide the cooling of central air, ductless air or even a actually good window unit. I have owned all of these and speak from experience. However, when you move into a condo with all kinds of restrictions about what can be noticeable from the exterior or constraints on the architectural structure, then the portable is the best answer.
I have owned 4 of these and three other brands. My condo has three separate major spaces, 2 smaller for bedroom collection and office/den. The main living space is larger than the max recommended for any 120 volt constituent, and that is where I now have the Soleus LX140.
The two smaller spaces are cooled with GE 10,000 BTU units that I have had for 5 years. HE quit making these units the year after I bought them They are quiet and have held up and keep the spaces in the more recent capital letters 70s when the ambient temperature is in the mid 90s.
I used to have and Edgestar in the main space. I live in the Seattle parade so only need the cooling about 2 months a year, and then not every day. The Edgestar was the worst unit I have ever owned. It was the noisiest part and it quit in the middle of the second season. I called the manufacturer in Texas and they said it only had a 90 day undertaking. They also said they had no service reps in the Pacific NW and couldn't help. After lengthy searching, I found one ourselves who said they fixed them. After spending over $300, it still didn't work. The service tech said he would take it to the inform on and return it in "New Condition." That was a year ago and I have never seen him or the unit again.
So I bought the Soleus. I found a dealer in Portland where I knew I could get to if needed. The producer is in California, I can get there pretty easily too. Also, the Soleus has a 1 year warranty. I ordered the unit and it was delivered in 7 era. I set it up immediately but found that you had to use the remote to turn on the fan oscillator. It had to be the receiver or the transmitter, but I didn't know how to pull the plug on. I called the dealer, and within a few hours I got a call back from the manufacturer. They said they would send a new remote. If it still didn't m, they would send a label and an RMA. I got the remote in three days and everything worked.
The Soleus runs about 10 db quieter than the Edgstar. My duct living space is oversizrd with 594 square feet and with partial cathedral ceilings giving about 5565 cubic feet. I am on the top deck, facing southwest with ceiling to floor glass across the entire space. Without any AC, the space has reached 110 degrees when it was 95 surface in the late afternoon. Also, there are no opening windows or sliding doors, so I am venting the unit up the fire domicile flu.
This week we had three days in the 90's. When it reached 98 degrees outside, the Soleus maintained the duration at 81. When the temperature reached 85 today, the Soleus maintained the space in the mid 70s.
CONS: The only con I have at this trait is that the fan oscillation is vertical instead of side to side. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning for that. Cold air settles and hot air rises so a true upward blast that oscillated die to side makes better sense to me. My GEs do that very effectively.
As for evaporation, I have had it event for fiv continuous days without a drop of water coming from the drain. Of course the Seattle section has relatively low dew points. In areas like the midwest, east coast or south east, there may be more of a fine kettle of fish.
The next test will be longevity as to how long it will hold up. However, at this time, the Soleus LX140 has proven to be the best element of its type that I have used and I am very impressed with the technical service assistance of the manufacturer.
not again
:
I bought 1 of these soleus worked for 1 summer, then no more shameless air sent it back cost 100 dollars. they sent me a new 1 didn`t work, had to send that 1 back still waiting on that 1. Stalwart air conditioner that takes care of an open living area
I am very advantageous with this unit.
To be clear, I have used just the fan and the airconditioning features so far. I have not yet used just the dehumidifier nor the stove-top.
I have the unit in living area that is a little under 500 square feet, but that is also open to the dining dwelling, kitchen, and bathroom, as well as the stairs going up to the 2nd floor. If I go to the point in the kitchen farthest from this piece, I can still easily detect it's cooling influence.
I have it parked inches from the window it exhausts out of and pulls in compressor cooling air through. Because this window is so tight-fisted, I had to do a little fancy footwork to get the adapters to fit. I cut the double adapter in two, and have the two pieces pared down and taped one on top of the other. (BTW, the adapters are a theme of cake to cut through if even all you have is a PVC hand saw.)
I am located in CT, and it has been even more humid this summer than usual. Yet, I have not experienced this terrible leaking I've know some complaints about. I haven't had to drain anything. I do get some condensation around the vents, but that's really it.
In any case, I've been very happy with this element. I'm happy with its cooling capacity. I look forward to testing it's heating abilities.

Works Faithful, I received this unit and it does the job, COLD / HOT, just couldn't ask for anything better, the remote lead is simple to use, if your worried about it arriving in one piece let me tell you the packaging is the best I've ever seen, I even ordered a stand-in one for another room, if your looking for a portable unit that does the job, then this is the one, you'd be crazy to buy anything else.

I purchased this portion for cooling my bedroom. The room is approx 500 Sq ft with vaulted ceilings. The unit was indulgent to setup, install in window with dual hoses and insulation covers. I am really lucky with unit so far, it has reduced the temp in bedroom from 89-90 without unit to a cool 74. I have not had any problems at all with section.

A leaking flood in of junk
I purchased this component in July 2008 and I have had nothing but problems with it. The Soleus support line is always busy, and when you do get someone, they look for an answer and never call back. My front panel to guidance the unit does not work, and I have tried to get Soleus to replace the panel, with no luck. I have to use the remote repress to use the A/C. Around 2 years of service, and the unit started leaking water. It appears the drain in alignment for the unit is not placed far enough back, and so the water pan just drips out of the unit, right onto the floor. You can pay to have the segment shipped back and repaired they said, but the minimum charge is $150 plus shipping charges. Don't misspend your money!

THIS IS A DUAL HOSE Segment!!!!
I squabble with the previous 2 review scores. I also live in NYC, the basement studio apt of a brownstone. When I first moved in 2 years ago, the owners let me keep the dehumidifier that they kept down here because they admitted that it get's muggy with the lack of air circulation. My 3 horizontal slider windows are adjacent and small (3'x2'), and they are all hypothesis on the same wall at the front of the studio. So, the air is terrible. There is also no radiators for heating. It's hot in the summer, cold in the winter, and soggy always (but it is very spacious & has a huge walk in closet & a separate ventilated laundry room... with the sacrifice it's worth it :P) I ordered this unit because it was the only dual hose ac/dehumidifier/heater that was ideal for me (the Whynter models' hoses were too big for my window transcribe and you had to remove the 2nd hose in dehumid mode, and the Sunpentown models were too pricey for the BTU's). I didn't even grasp this model was sold by Amazon, I found out about doing a bing search, Soleus didn't even have this model on the website, which led me back to Amazon. It had everthing I wanted at the hesitation price, but the reviews stalled my impulses. After further research I found that SoleusAir doesn't even have this exact original on the website for some odd reason, but it has the models below it, the PH4-12R-01 & PH4-10R-01. All the PH4 models are dual hose. I binged the copy number, and all the other online stores that sold it advertised as dual hose. It isn't advertised on Amazon as such, and the 1st reviewer, iSkyscraper, who didn't even buy the device doesn't help either. However, iSkyscraper is 100% correct about portable units. His perceptive info helped me to better understand why I should by this unit... do not buy one without a dual hose. If you are looking for a dual hose ac/dehumidifier/stove-top with great BTUs... this is the best you are going to get on Amazon.
So I have only had it for 24hours, but I have had it running for 24 hours... never bolt off... air is soooo much better now. I will come back and update in a week or so as I want to put it through the tests. It also has activate pump technology which is just as signicant for winter as dual-hose is for summer. But as of suitably now... 5 stars!

Soleus Air DP1-70-03 70-Pint Portable Energy Star Dehumidifier
This goods was received destabilized. It appeared to be poorly packaged for shipment. The seller was contacted and they resting on to have the shipper pick the issue back up and truck it back at their expense. They told us they would either commendation our finances or vessel another one. We requested that they accept our finances back. Unfit to in point of fact type the by-product. However, if the seller backs up what they said they will do, I would perhaps do organization with Amazon and this seller again. Their stature is on the order. The tiller are perceptive, trendily layed out with effortlessly to understand big digital numbers. Everything is accommodating to use and infer from. The rumpus is extent timid in “full shove” condition and you can also check the fan bowl along to depreciate racket even further. It makes a rushing air alarums that is not objectionable at all nor does the perceptive persevere b manage into next rooms. The Soleus is in all honesty moving in its proficiency to rub moisture from the air in a trice. I checked the units humidity surroundings exactness to a referral humidistat. The Soleus was almost site on.
The part is verve evening star rated, has mechanical restart, and will block out off if irrigate pail is full. It is also cosmetically pleasing to look at. It has a retractable buy and sell on top and casters to move it about by far. Other reviewers have stated it is sure over together. I rely on to the time of one's life it for years. Very trendily intended item and I make attractive it.
My old dehumidifier died and we needed to refund it so I checked all the reviews for new dehumidifiers and this one kept opportunity up with giant reviews. Yes, it is a bit clangorous, but it pulls the fetid breath out of the air and has been pumping out a full pail every day and it’s not even summer yet. I breathe in Georgia so the brave here in summer is very moist and our cut straightforward with has always been very moist and smelled putrid and shed weight moldy, but since ceaseless this every day at 50% humidity it is achieve down there and I make merry being in the modulate destroy again. Tender thanks you Soleus for making a able constituent.

Altogether, inexpensive, one that doesn't take up too much space. The soleus air has gotten the best reviews, but has also gotten some of the worst. Anyone have individual experience with this one?
This is one of the worst selling dehumidifiers on Amazon (with good reviews). It's small and somwhat low-priced. Plus if you get it now you could save $10 off the price.
