Remarkable CLEANERI dont run my cleaner as much as I should so my bawdy-house is still very dusty. But all functions work great. I painted a room and thought I cld put this machine in the room to get rid of the fumes. Lapse! The only thing that happened was the filters took on the smell of the paint and primer. So when I run the purifier in the living dwelling we smell paint. I did replace the charcoal filter, but I suppose I need to replace the lie-down now. Over all It's a nice machine.
Stron odor of insecticide
I ordered this seep because of the great reviews on every other website. This filter was a nightmare. After detecting a strong odor of insecticide I was instructed to move the percolate to an isolated room with the windows wide open and run the air filter for a few days. I ran it for almost five days. The odor did not lessen. When anyone would go into the room, they would become ill. I had read that there was an odor with some machines before I bought it. I spoke to several companies that sold the gang. They blamed the few customers that had the problem by saying they were a little "crazy" and sensitive. The odor expectations from this machine could stop a Mac truck. The company that sold the machine was very difficult. They wanted to action me for the shipping coming and going even though they offered free shipping. I wish I had listened to the reviews of the so called "loony" and sensitive people. There is obviously some filters that are sent out with a problem. Order this machine if you be deficient in to take a chance that you won't be one of the ones to have this problem.
The With greatest satisfaction of the Best for air filtration
This fixation is amazing at filtering the air. While there is a trade off between noise and high volume filtration it has 6 settings so you can button up (even has its own remote). If this was a bit cheaper it would be no contest with any other system but it is expensive. If you need or want truly great air purification this is the one you lack. Note that first 2 days or so you get a bit of a vinyl smell from v5 filter but its not bad. Really, Really wish I had gotten one of these years ago. Venture and setup couldn't be simpler, also comes with loads of information as well as guarantees and testing validation. I like that filters can be changed individually and that it has automatic notification lights for each filter on guidance panel. This is a big unit almost a foot square and nearly waist height so you need to find a speckle for it that's out of the way but not right up against a wall (needs at least a foot of clearance to work properly). Also no ozone so its satisfactory for allergies and for asthma, as well as anyone that has need to keep dust down or eliminate odors or fumes from things like neighbor's shop projects (ozone irritates membranes in lungs which can cause asthma attacks in some populace).
Not value the price
I figured if I forth a lot of money on a good air purifier than my problem with cigarette smoke coming in my room from my neighbors brothel would go away.
It didn't help at all. It also does not help with dust. My pre-filter needs to be misused already and I've only had the unit for 4 months.
Save your money. If your problem is cigarette smoke, this unit is not the surrebuttal.
The puzzle of the funny smell
I like the device for all the reasons stated by others: it works, it's powerful enough, the filters seem to be high quality and intelligently expected, etc. I did alot of research online and I'm glad I did, the world of air purifiers is a confusing one. But this has not disappointed.
However, like several other customers I had the dreaded "what is that funky carouse/chemical smell coming from the machine?" moment happen a few days ago. I've only had it 3 weeks, but I had deliver assign to the reviews on here so I knew something was up and that it wasn't just me. I now finally understand what causes it.
I spoke with a very sympathetic fellow at IQAir and he explained that it was probably the V5 filter (i then took apart the machine and tested each seep one at a time in the machine - start with the pre-filter, then add in the V5, then the HEPA - and smelled the air output with each one - yep it was the V5).
What happens with the V5 filter is it contains charcoal and it soaks up crowd in the air (odors, chemicals, etc.) whether the machine is running or not. So where the machine is stored, how long it is stored, how it's shipped, the nature of container (styrofoam, plastic?) it is stored and shipped in, etc. can mean that the filter gets lots of "treatment" before it ever shows up at your door.
The purifier came in a cardboard box inside of a cardboard box, but the filters were not severally wrapped, so I'm pretty sure that it got stored in a warehouse somewhere for too long and just soaked up bullshit. Maybe forklift exhaust. :)
I called Amazon to get some help. They handle customer checking for the actual seller, Mr Vac and Mrs Sew. I explained the problem and they offered me a partial refund on the cost of the purifier, which was enough to get a new V5 screen .
So there it is. Now for a few possible solutions that I hope the seller and the manufacturer read and put into practice:
- The best explanation by far is for IQAir to individually wrap and seal each filter before putting them in boxes and shipping them to re-sellers. Then add a pussyfoot about to assembly where the purchasers take each filter out of the sealed wrapper and put them in the purifier. The machine is pretty elementary, adding this step wouldn't be much of a bother for the consumer.
IQAir can't control what re-sellers do and where they pile up things. Yet, if a consumer has this problem, as many of us have, we tend to associate it with the product, that means the IQAir maker takes a hit and I think they should change this process in order to preserve what is otherwise a very superior product.
- The next subdue solution would be alot more work and seems kind of silly, but...the re-sellers would need to be careful about where they reservoir these machines and for how long. They would need a freshness date of some sort and to be stored in a "clean accommodation". I know, it's ridiculous. But it's the only alternative to the first solution I could think of.
Again, overall a great machine, but there is one completely improvement they could make and I hope they do.
