Don't buy
I have an Ionic Puff, and the dust in my house is actually worse since I've used it. The ions attract the dirt to every charged exterior in the home where it usally isn't a problem, and it's not just a regular dust, it's a gritty sticky skin. My mirrors and windows have a film on them that's hard to remove, my walls are dull, my furniture has a dim on it, my wooden floors are dull. The dust is not like regular dust that can just be wiped in a different place.
I didn't suspect that the Ionic Breeze would be the problem, so I checked my furnace filter to see if it needed distorted, and it didn't, because I thought it was advertised to do the opposite. I thought I was just thinking there's more dust than stock, and couldn't figure it out, but after I did a web search, it said that the ions charge the surfaces of your home, and the dust in your homewards is attracted to the nearest surface where it sticks, and it makes complete sense to me.
I found no benefit from this artefact at all. It did have some kind of "clean smell" that you notice every once in a while, but I never noticed exceedingly fresh air that was any different in grade than before, and I don't breathe easier or whatever they advertise it as.
I would not reccommend this product to anyone. Unless you like to dust more than established, and you want your house to look like it has a film on everything, go right ahead.
I forty winks better at night with the Ionic Breeze
We received an Ionic Simple job for Christmas several years ago from my parents. I put it in the largest room in the house and let it run constantly. We had carpet at this on occasion. For a dust remover, it's very poor. It just simply doesn't have the air volume or dust garnering capacity. That's what your central air unit is for - with close to four square feet of filter or more.
As an air purifier it's cool. I removed all the carpet in our house, installed fake wood floors, and moved the item to my bedroom. I can get at least three or four weeks between cleanings - even with a cat. The lack of carpet really cut down on the dust in the house and the I.B. in my area helps me sleep better at night.

* It claims to only use a few watts - I haven't put a meter on it yet.

One of the pre-eminent products ever made... PERIOD!
Several years ago before Cosumer Reports slandered Sharper Image out of corporation, I bought an Ionic Breeze Quadra from my neighborhood Shaper Image store. It was expensive at the point but I thought it was well worth it. Well as soon as my wife read the report about ionic air cleaners, she bought it all the way, line and sinker... and why not, is Consumers Reports EVER wrong? (BTW the answer to that is yes, more offer than population realize) So she packed it away in the attic and refused to look at it, let alone use it. There is sat for almost 3 years. Today, while tidiness the attic I found my old friend. I dusted off the box, took out the Quadra and hooked it up in my office. Suddenly, my branch smells clean. I feel like I can breathe again. It's spring-time in South Sweater... take means everything outside is covered in a thick layer of yellow pollen. well, I'm safe confidential with my old friend. It still works perfectly and is completely silent. This product is amazing. Like or not, it works.
For the record, I see nothing that says it will stamp out the need for you to dust ever again. I didn't buy it for that reason and if you did... well, you're either lazy or a fool. And as far as the zapping thundering goes, I was instructed when I bought this that you should clean it with a DRY cloth. If you need to use Windex or something, you MUST let it dry before using it. If you get a zapping feeling, that means the collection plates are still holding moisture. Think about it... negative and functional ions and a little bit of moisture... that's the same recipe for a lightning storm! Let the plates air dry. Proper because you wiped them dry does not mean that they are dry. My Quadra is now and always was COMPLETELY silent. The little bathroom one on the other possession was never silent. It was a free gift for spending $350, what do you expect?
In an objective summary: it rub odors, removes something from the air as the collection plates need to be cleaned twice a week, it is altogether silent and costs $10 a year to operate 24/7. The room smells washed and fresh and I don't have allergy problems.
I would love to know from these lemmings (especially from the ones who own a riff-raff of cats) if the best rated Consumer Reports air cleaner eliminated their need to dust?

Overpriced, But Great
I am open-mouthed at any rating below 4 stars! I understand if you get a hissing or "lightning" sound, Then send it back. Over the years I took 2 back to the Sharper Image collect which they exchanged no questions asked! The principal is this: The Ionic Breeze creates negative Ions and throws them out the front of the module. As it does it draws air through it and will catch some of the airborne partials. Most of what it does is to "catch" partials with the contrary ions attaching themselves to the dander or allergen and driving it to the ground. The offending allergen is no longer in the air for you to blow, thereby making the air cleaner. You DO have to vacuum more often but the space is truly cleaner. I have three of them right now, normally had four. A extensive unit will generally clean a 12 X 14 room in less than 3 hours. I am ashamed to say I had a mouse (lifeless) in a trap for a long time and was unaware of it until I cleaned the room, there was no scent of it at all! ( Should have been from the look of it, Wretched folks). I'm just saying its that good! The unit is expensive, but when they work, they WORK!

Firecracker!
Had this prototype for about a year and it did clean a tiny bit of dust from the air, but after 6 months it started to make the crackle resonate randomly. This crackle sound eventually got so bad that to have this thing on would be quite scary, and we did clean it regularly and let it dry overnight. I later looked privy to see that this crackling sound was little sparks of electricity! Really not a worth while item, and didn't seem to okay to have something that would be making sparks constantly. Eventually it seemed to stop working even when we would attempt to use with the crackling sounds.

Sharper Image SI719 Tabletop Reticent Air Purifier with Ionic Breeze
I purchased this matter to replace one that I had - loved my first ionizer. this ionizer is not working. I contacted the seller to get additional news about a condition that is not covered in the manual (flashing blue light). The seller was not beneficial at all. I am very disappointed in both, the ionizer and the seller.

Don't do it !!!!
This purifier works significant when it works, but I just threw away my third tabletop purifier today. Something about this model does not encounter up to the test of time. Sorry, I have waisted money and time (a little over a year since the first one was bought) with this epitome. I have Sharper Image's bathroom (small space)model--no problems in a year but I am afraid to try one of their bigger models after the tabletop make untidy.

DO NOT buy a consequence from Sharper Image. I sent an Ionic Breeze back for repair in January 2009 and it was returned to me today May 11, 2009! Their renewal section refused the package multiple times and since the postal service eventually returned it to me I can't even put a claim for the now completely destroyed item. I am so angry because the phone numbers listed on the website are "no longer in appointment" and I can't reach anyone to shout at other than the poor souls who chose to read this. I will never purchase another item that has anything to do with this band. By the way, the address I used to send the item to was on the back of my warranty card. What a joke!!!

Don't Buy this Thing
I legitimate put this Item in the trash. I got it on March 9 and it worked well for three months then the blue light started flashing (not the red sterile me light). I looked everywhere for info on what was wrong then after a week it died. THERE IS NO!!! SUPPORT OR Mend FOR THIS ITEM. SHARPER IMAGE WENT BELLY UP and no one fixes these units once they break. There's no repacement warranty. DON'T GET STUCK WITH THIS Portion BECAUSE ONCE IT BREAKS YOUR DONE.

Mine sucked
I bought two of these units. One stopped working while it was still under agreement so I contacted sharper image to see about getting it fixed. They informed me that it was no longer covered because of new investors or something so I pretty much got screwed. I wouldn't buy one again and I sure wouldn't buy from sharper image again. I did leave negative feedback on their website but they must delete bad reviews because when I looked a few weeks later it was gone. I'm more disenchanted in them than the product.

TWO! Stopped working on me
First, these are wholly overpriced. But, if you pay that much for something like this, you expect it to work. I purchased TWO a few years ago. One died after a year and a partially, the other died after two years. Dead. The wiring in my home is fine, and I kept these clean and ran them on way. That's crap. Two stars instead of one only because, well, they do clean the air, but a lifespan that short is unacceptable.

Causes Ozone Poisoning
At best one of these things effectively crippled my lungs after direct exposure. If you have a home office like a studio it's even worse as you'll get twice the ozone. Can generate sever permanent illness and is the reason Sharper Image went bankrupt. I can't even believe it's legal for them to vend this anymore.

Consumer Reports was Erroneous- the Ionic Breeze is All You'll ever need for Excellent home air quality
My tried and trusty Ionic Breeze died after 5 good years of service; about the same time that Consumer Reports wrote a terrible review about it. So I didn't buy a new one.
This year I had 3 sinus infections; 3 in one year after never having had one ever in my unimpaired life. Eventually my brain cogs clicked into sync and I realized, oh gee, maybe I should buy another ionic snap? Yep, I bought your ridiculously inexpensive offering and I've been breathing free and easy ever since.

I place of safety't really noticed a difference in the air around the area that I put the product. I have noticed however the noise that it seems to make when doing whatever it does. It is frequently making a fuzzy, crackling noise. I've tried cleaning it and the noise goes to another place for about a day, then it comes back.
Does a Bonny Good Job Even in the Living Room
I bought this to try in the living margin (12 x 10) because I wanted something quiet and without a replaceable filter. I didn't really await it to do a very good job and thought I would be moving it into the bathroom, where it was designed to go. Mostly, I wanted to know whether there was anything worthwhile about the Ionic Lead-pipe cinch family of products and whether I should think about getting one the right size for the living room.
But this tiny guy is working okay. It keeps the dust way down. It makes little static popping noises from experience to time. There's always a lot of fuzzy stuff on the collection grid. I'm going to buy another one for my bathroom.

This at the end of the day works
I am a soldier currently serving in Iraq. We get usual sand and dust storms, and when the dirt starts kicking up, everything gets dirty. I purchased one of these for my extent and i could tell the difference in air quality as soon as the next day. This last dust storm we had, i did not even know we were having until I in point of fact opened my door. This product is amazing and i am sorry i did not discover this sooner.
My only complaint is that after you tidy it, It is a little loud for a couple of days. Its not an overpowering sound, just static.
