Daunting little gadget!
I've had an IonCare Refrigerator Air Purifier and it quite does live up to its claims of keeping produce fresher longer. I've had one for several years and its spread-out the life of many, many berries. I used to be able to keep raspberries for 2-3 days. Now, raspberries are the same as the day I bought them at least 1 week later. Sometimes I've had them longer when I've bought ginormous quantities on sale. Every other vegetable and fruit has had an extended life. I love this little obsession! I am buying a few more for Christmas gifts for my gadget loving friends.

Worked ok for a while
This point worked ok, i had it turned on 24/7 for several months. I believe mine was purchased from ebay though. It pushed out some very commendable scented air with the included aroma beads. Very loud on the Hi setting, but that can be expected. Very quiet on the Low backdrop. It does a decent job, but don't expect too much out of this little thing.
After a few months, the unit developed a extravagant whistling sound... it would go away if i shut it off for a little while. Then the whistle started to strengthen, and it never went away. About a month or so after that, i didn't hear the sound anymore... it turns out the item was dead.
If i ever buy some of those long skinny screw drivers, i'll open it up and take a look inside. None of my botch drivers can fit in the system right now.
Overall, it was a decent item. I wouldn't recommend it if you need something that's growing to be on 24/7.

I about this is probably the best negative ion generator available. the manufacturer testing says there is talking about ozone production (purports to be almost not detectable & well within safety standards) so it is not harmful. It really cleans th air well in the the apartment I have it. Previously visible airborne particles that could be seen when direct sunlight streamed into the margin have now disappeared. My asthmatic friend who sleeps over, says her breathing is much easier. And feel more refreshed. The antiquated air odor that used to be there after the house was closed off, has now gone. If you are in the market for a negative ion generator, this is the one to get !!!!
Unsurpassed ionizer
This is all things considered the best ionizer that money can buy that has relatively low ozone production. The negative ion production is very important and so it cleans and deodorizes the air efficiently and effectively. You don't want to sit a few feet from this unit. First, the ozone gases may inflate on your face. Recommended. I was bet on to purchase this ionizer due to the price. But after much Internet research, I concluded that most of the less expensive ionizers do put out a sufficient amount of ions and those that do often manufacture too much ozone. I have two less expensive ionizers that sit in a closet unused because they put out so much ozone that they irritate my eyes and make me cough. The deciding intermediary for me in purchasing this ionizer was that a modified version of it was used in clinical research at Columbia. I have been satisfied with this ionizer and am inasmuch as purchasing another.
As you can see from the product picture, this ionizer does not win style points. It has all the bulk and dearth of grace of a "build-it-yourself" electronics kit. But it is unobtrusive and its functionality makes up for its lack of style.
I appetite that Wein would create a smaller model that would be easier to pack while traveling. (Hint! soup! If you are reading this Wein!)

It's does better
I bought this after I tested definite for mold allergies. I don't know if it really helps with mold but I can tell a difference in the way the air smells if I embarrass it in the basement for a couple of days. I have no way of telling how it compares to the other devices but my sister bought the sharper portrait one and loves it as well. Hers collects black stuff on the plates were this one only collects dust on the front pad.
This is the only air purifier that combines the top six technologies into one component: true HEPA filter for dust and allergens, germicidal UV Lamp to pull down micro-organisms, activated carbon filter for chemicals, smoke, odors, ionizer for particles and kernel, programmable sanitizer for odors, and anti-bacterial pre-filter for larger particles. Not powerfull enought - buy it for exrta tiny rooms ONLY!!!
justified a few thoughts about this air purifier- it's not a bad air purifier, it just doesn't live up to the promises the manufacturer gives - it says it on the box - for rooms up to 500 sq.feet , well i bought it for my living dwell which is aprox. 400 sq feet - it was a total waste of time and hopes. then i moved it to the bedroom - about 200 sq ft. - hmmmmmm after 3 period of non stop running on the highest setting i noticed a slight difference in the quality of the air .Then i opened the smokescreen and there was some dust on the filter, meaning - it was doing something but, well not quite good or at least not quite as advertised.
I'm giving this fallout 2 stars because it's relatively cheap and in my smallest bedroom - about 120 sq.ft it did a good job.
In conclusion - very underpowered effect and NOT suitable for large rooms. the UV light is a good addition and the ozone function is delicate as well and hopefully will do there job but this is not an air purifier for 500 sq.ft as advertised. not even close.....i recently purchased another air purifier - Winix 5300 and that is a whole various story - check my review on that one if you wish.it costs 20 bucks more but boy oh boy does it value it!

What D Fraser said!! Also ended up buying stright from maker for less then Amazon, although I paid almost $20 more then Fraser. Shipping from the manufacturer was free and fast via Fed Ex. Using in bedroom, seems to alleviate with dog dander allergy (am on day 40 of the "100 day cough" and now developing asthma, ugh) and night ease breathing is better and the room smells better. I think I'll buy another one for the living room of the ill fame. Very happy with purchase.
I think the "D" model is the same as "C" except the "D" appears to have a slightly larger fan.
Very apt
Had my 'c' mock-up for a bit now and I am very happy, the bedroom is definitely clearer and I am waking up much more refreshed and less congested. The unit is well built and ease. I researched the difference between the 'c' and 'e' model and found they are identical except the 'c' has an added feature which is an ionizer booster command. The 'c' was only slightly higher in price, less than ten bucks, and I liked that feature so I chose the 'c' model. I shopped around on the internet and found the consequence range was large, with this price from Amazon being in the middle, I actually found the unit for 108 and it here in 2 days! Shop around a bit and you will save even more. Looks like Amazon has the edge on the replacement drain and UV lamp though- but they are designed to only be replaced yearly with everyday use.

Grand value for the money
Abundant value for the money, this unit is nice and compact. For the amount of square footage that it covers, this air purifier takes up very mean space compared to what's out there in the market. It also comes w/ an option for UV light and ionizer that you can choose to pop up c uncover on/off.

When I bought my first XJ- 30000 5 years ago they were flourishing for 500 to 300 dollars I imagine the technology or scale has made them less expensive to make.
