Spectacular for 1 room
We have an premium room over the garage that we spend alot of time in but it's hotter than the other rooms so we used fair about every brand you see sold. None of them worked well until we tried the Soleus. It is the only one with really COLD air coming out, it can cool down the elbow-room fast. Only downside is it is a little loud but dosnen't bother me that much. Love Soleus.

Deteriorate of Money
I scarcely bought this 3 weeks ago. After numerous window units I thought I would try a portable unit so I could straightforward the air where I wanted it. First of all this unit was difficult to install. The directions were terrible. I have had a lot less problem with my previous window units. 12,000 BTU's should refreshing my entire living/dining room. It works okay if you are directly in front of it, but 8-10 feet in another place just so so. It is as loud as any window unit I have had. It does not cool down to lowest temp so compressor is always on. After on-going it quite a bit for three days I just had to drain the condensation holding tank which was an experience in and of itself! The stopper is on the bottom about a half inch from the floor. It is below the hose so you have to remove that. When you remove the cap, there is no type of plug, so the copiously immediately begins pouring into the pitiful plastic drainage tray that is provided that holds about 1/2 cup at the most. With a 1.5 liter tank to ebb you need to also have a bucket or a bowl and plenty of towels as I found it impossible to stop the flow upsetting to empty the tray of water into the bucket. Long story short, don't waste your money. Way to dear for the hassle. I'm going to go have a beer and make up with my dogs who are quivering outside after hearing my yelling of obscenities during the drainage prepare.

wonderdul goods
I received this fallout about a month ago and am really enjoying it. We have whole house ac but one of our rooms is steal really hot because the duck employment is not placed properly through the house. Its nice to have something that we can move to another room if we need it. I also like that I can use it for a heater in the winter because this abide is always cold. So all around its a nice product. Its not real quite but thats ok and my daughter likes that occasion it puts her to sleep and she dosent here all the other noises. The setup with the window is very easy to and you dont have a big conditioner undecided out the window. When not using the conditioner and you just want to open the window you can. Just heave up exalt the window up and leave everything in place and nothing falls out. the free shipping was a plus to. that saves alot.

Very disenchanted unit
Got this module today and for some reason the unit itself was covered in grease, something like a motor oil.
Anyway, set it up and powered on, after 2 hr match, the unit was blow AIR only even on COLD mode.
Called Amazon to get unit return and they told me I will have to pay $60 - $80 bring back shipping charge for defective unit.
I will never buy and electric unit from Amazon again. I never have any problem to get full refund from other online retailer.

Uncool
This air conditioner/oil-burning stove/dehumidifier is highly overrated by the manufacturer. 12,000 BTU should make your home feel like a refrigerator. It doesn't! It doesn't total close to the air cooling capacity of window units with less than half this rating. The drainage escape hatch is located way too close to the floor thereby not allowing for a hose to drain properly without elevating the piece. While there is a condensation overflow tank drainage again is an issue. I ran the unit for a solid eight hours at the lowest temperature scenery/highest fan speed and the first floor of my small home was only marginally cooler. I was very disappointed as I had hoped this was the defence to both my cooling and heating needs.

Soleus transportable
Mellifluous much does what it is advertised to do. I solved the drain pan problem by tubing it out the wall in a permanent the latest thing with a combination of tygon tubing and aluminum tubing so that it will self drain.
Unexcelled I've owned
Before buying a small air conditioner, it helps to understand what you can expect and not expect from it. There is no way it will provide the cooling of central air, ductless air or even a remarkably good window unit. I have owned all of these and speak from experience. However, when you move into a condo with all kinds of restrictions about what can be unmistakable from the exterior or constraints on the architectural structure, then the portable is the best answer.
I have owned 4 of these and three other brands. My condo has three separate major spaces, 2 smaller for bedroom retainers and office/den. The main living space is larger than the max recommended for any 120 volt item, and that is where I now have the Soleus LX140.
The two smaller spaces are cooled with GE 10,000 BTU units that I have had for 5 years. HE quit making these units the year after I bought them They are still and have held up and keep the spaces in the upper 70s when the ambient temperature is in the mid 90s.
I used to have and Edgestar in the main align. I live in the Seattle area so only need the cooling about 2 months a year, and then not every day. The Edgestar was the worst module I have ever owned. It was the noisiest unit and it quit in the middle of the second season. I called the fabricator in Texas and they said it only had a 90 day warranty. They also said they had no service reps in the Pacific NW and couldn't resist. After lengthy searching, I found one person who said they fixed them. After spending over $300, it still didn't m. The service tech said he would take it to the shop and return it in "New Condition." That was a year ago and I have never seen him or the segment again.
So I bought the Soleus. I found a dealer in Portland where I knew I could get to if needed. The manufacturer is in California, I can get there pretty comfortably too. Also, the Soleus has a 1 year warranty. I ordered the unit and it was delivered in 7 days. I set it up immediately but found that you had to use the remote to whirl on the fan oscillator. It had to be the receiver or the transmitter, but I didn't know how to tell. I called the dealer, and within a few hours I got a call back from the fabricator. They said they would send a new remote. If it still didn't work, they would send a label and an RMA. I got the remote in three existence and everything worked.
The Soleus runs about 10 db quieter than the Edgstar. My main living space is oversizrd with 594 na feet and with partial cathedral ceilings giving about 5565 cubic feet. I am on the top puzzle, facing southwest with ceiling to floor glass across the entire space. Without any AC, the space has reached 110 degrees when it was 95 surface in the late afternoon. Also, there are no opening windows or sliding doors, so I am venting the unit up the fire position flu.
This week we had three days in the 90's. When it reached 98 degrees outside, the Soleus maintained the lacuna at 81. When the temperature reached 85 today, the Soleus maintained the space in the mid 70s.
CONS: The only con I have at this aim is that the fan oscillation is vertical instead of side to side. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning for that. Cold air settles and hot air rises so a persistent upward blast that oscillated die to side makes better sense to me. My GEs do that very effectively.
As for evaporation, I have had it on-going for fiv continuous days without a drop of water coming from the drain. Of course the Seattle bailiwick has relatively low dew points. In areas like the midwest, east coast or south east, there may be more of a obstreperous.
The next test will be longevity as to how long it will hold up. However, at this time, the Soleus LX140 has proven to be the best part of its type that I have used and I am very impressed with the technical service assistance of the manufacturer.
not again
:
I bought 1 of these soleus worked for 1 summer, then no more level-headed air sent it back cost 100 dollars. they sent me a new 1 didn`t work, had to send that 1 back still waiting on that 1. O ya it was 11 months 21 existence old thank god there was a hot day or who nows what great things might have happen if I waited 10 more days. bought a two year assurance, can`t wait to see how that works because i bought 2 of them at air & water hpoe its not as bad as I`ve heard. the other 1 works great, so far.If it breaks Ill reasonable junk it. Not doing that again. O ya the broken 1 is a LX 140 the other is a LX 120
O ya the heater never worked on the LX 140. All said I like them alot i don`t have some big fad sticking out my window and i can look out my window with out standing on my tip toes.

Soleus LX-140 carriable air conditioner
I have had the LX-140 for a few months now. I real in a 700 square foot apartment. While my apartment is MUCH larger than the BTU rating on the unit, the LX-140 has proven itself to be a faithful work horse in cooling my apartment. Since a BTU rating of 12,000 BTU is only expected to properly cold about 450 square feet, I have been amazed at how cold the LX-140 has gotten my place. With the inside info that the unit can be programmed to shut down and start up when you want it to (a great power saver, and security feature) I would HIGHLY recommend this unit to anyone who is seriously looking for a reliable machine that will unite their needs. While I cannot say that if you put the LX-140 in a oversized room, it will always cool it to your liking, I can say with great confidence that placed in a 450 exact foot place it would do VERY well.
Soleus - don't break away your money
I paid $600 for Soleus PH4-12R carriable a/c + heatpump. I was very happy for about three months, seemed to perform to specs. I even posted a very favorable review. But then it revealed it's unwavering colors.
After about 3 months the blower developed a rubbing or bearing noise, transforming the entity to near intolerable.
After 5 months the unit simply went dead, not even any lights on the rudder. Yes, wall outlet has power.
Soleus warranty requires me to ship unit two directions to CA for agreement service. Troublke is, warranty does not cover shipping. After an estimate to pack for shipping = $50, and shipping the 100# piece two directions by UPS for $150 each, my "warranty" repair is $350. They have no service centers except their factory.
If I haul back, I will have invested $950 in this unit which has already proven it has no reliability. And there is no guarantee that they will not find some arcane reason to honor the assurance, despite my outlay for shipping.
The warranty is a complete ripoff since they use no standard national network - a key certainly when you think a large item has a good warranty. Ask to be sure before purchase.

THIS IS A DUAL HOSE Portion!!!!
I bicker with the previous 2 review scores. I also live in NYC, the basement studio apt of a brownstone. When I first moved in 2 years ago, the owners let me keep the dehumidifier that they kept down here because they admitted that it get's sticky with the lack of air circulation. My 3 horizontal slider windows are adjacent and small (3'x2'), and they are all set on the same wall at the front of the studio. So, the air is terrible. There is also no radiators for heating. It's hot in the summer, cold in the winter, and clammy always (but it is very spacious & has a huge walk in closet & a separate ventilated laundry room... with the evaluation it's worth it :P) I ordered this unit because it was the only dual hose ac/dehumidifier/heater that was ideal for me (the Whynter models' hoses were too big for my window keyboard and you had to remove the 2nd hose in dehumid mode, and the Sunpentown models were too pricey for the BTU's). I didn't even remember this model was sold by Amazon, I found out about doing a bing search, Soleus didn't even have this model on the website, which led me back to Amazon. It had everthing I wanted at the goodness price, but the reviews stalled my impulses. After further research I found that SoleusAir doesn't even have this exact paragon on the website for some odd reason, but it has the models below it, the PH4-12R-01 & PH4-10R-01. All the PH4 models are dual hose. I binged the mock-up number, and all the other online stores that sold it advertised as dual hose. It isn't advertised on Amazon as such, and the 1st reviewer, iSkyscraper, who didn't even buy the device doesn't help either. However, iSkyscraper is 100% correct about portable units. His penetrating info helped me to better understand why I should by this unit... do not buy one without a dual hose. If you are looking for a dual hose ac/dehumidifier/oven with great BTUs... this is the best you are going to get on Amazon.
So I have only had it for 24hours, but I have had it running for 24 hours... never fastened off... air is soooo much better now. I will come back and update in a week or so as I want to put it through the tests. It also has rouse pump technology which is just as signicant for winter as dual-hose is for summer. But as of precisely now... 5 stars!

Don't buy if you burning any place humid
I current in NYC and deal with hot humid summers. I bought the AC so I can move the unit from my living room to my bedroom with tranquillize (to that extent--it was great) and -- more importantly-- so I didn't have to drain the tank (that collects moisture when dehumidifying a stuffy room --- which most portables make you do).
Here are the issues:
1) The unit stops cooling and switches to "fan" when the tank is full (it's presumed to switch back when the water in the tank evaporates). Here's the issue--- the tank is full every THREE hours. So that means I constitutional on the AC before bed and wake up 3 hours later in a pool of sweat because the unit couldn't get rid of the moisture it at ease fast enough. SO I can wait for it to evaporate (mmmmm, ok) or I can drain the unit. Neither is a good option at 4am. But I as usual drain...which leads me to....
2) The drain on the unit is about 1 inch from the floor. That means you need a scuttle that fits under the drain less than inch tall but that can hold liters of water. What this means---there is nothing that can be the amount of water in the tank as it drains without it running all over the floor. So it's four am, I'm hot and trying to drain a system and have no container that can withstand a grip the flow of water coming from the drain. Only a cookie sheet (yes, I resorted to a cookie crib-sheet) fits under the drain and it obviously can't hold the volume of water.
3) Customer support advisable "continuous draining" for humid places. So I buy a hose and hook it up, but because the drain is an inch from the confuse, the hose directs up, not down....because there is no down (again, an inch from the floor) which results in spillage.

Air conditioner was a spark of life saver ...
I purchased the SPT WA-9020E air conditioner when my inner system cratered. I put the SPT in my office. It works very well. There is one thing that must be done, however. I had to port the water outlet hose to the casing because Houston is very humid and the unit created a LOT of water. After I got tired of emptying my container, I na drilled a hole in the window barricade and ran a small rubber hose to the outside. This component has done a yeoman job from the beginning!

hose too dwarfish
I imagine I assumed that portable AC units would be portable beyond 6 feet from the window. Clearly these products are expected for situations where a window unit cannot be employed because of the window and the weight it can support.
The exhaust hose is sic 8 ft long and does not allow you to place the unit between two rooms or move it around the house as needed (because you would require to connect it to a different window) - which is what I thought they were.
Buyer beware...if you intended to use it as it is meant, works fine. The unit is a little large, but it does pump out a lot of cool air.
Not recomended
This matter is not worth it. It takes hours to cool down my 100 sq ft room. I have a 5,000 btu window component that kicks butt compared to this one. Also, not convenient at all. You need to place a drip pan underneath to apprehend the water and it only allows a 1" space at the base. I had to build a 4" platform to void the unit high enough to sit a basin at the bottom to catch all the drip without having to empty it every 1 1/2 hours.

Sickening, Very Loud, Doesn't Cool
This 9000BTU AC is expected to cool a 250 square foot room, so I thought it'd be more than enough for my 190 square foot bedroom. When I turned it on, I was assured it would make things cool pretty quickly, because it was very loud. . . my wife and I called it the "jet machine" during the brief time before we sent it back. Instead it was only able to cool the room by about 3-4 degrees, even when I let it run all sunset. I tried it for three nights before returning it, and one morning when I woke up, it was actually cooler outside the household than it was in the bedroom where the AC had been running full blast for about 12 hours. Pathetic!
I replaced this unit with a 6000 BTU window component by Frigidaire. Even though the Frigidaire is only 2/3 the BTU rating, it makes less than half as much noise and was able to controlled my fairly small bedroom from 100+ and humid (we're in the middle of a major heat signify in the Northeast right now) to about 72 degrees in about 90 minutes. Needless to say, the 6000BTU replacement will price a lot less to run as well. . .
Also, I know some people don't care about this kind of thing, but this Sunpentown AC is just incredibly hostile. From the photo I wasn't really sure if it would look cool and futuristic in person or clunky and overbuilt. Surmise what. . . it's the latter! It just looks junky and designed by a twelve-year-old who was trying to draw a Camaro a substitute alternatively of a piece of furniture that's supposed to look fairly decent in your house. Most appallingly, and although it doesn't look so bad in the negligible photo online, that beige insert for the louvers looks like it came from some twenty-year-old have a nervous breakdown of office equipment (remember when everything was the same hideous beige?) and it's totally out of place with the silver/hoary plastic used everywhere else.
I had a portable AC by Maytag that lasted about 7 years and worked very well, but this Sunpentown I bought to renew it is a terrible failure in all respects: ugly, the loudest air conditioner I've heard since I was a kid in the 1980s, and it doesn't undisturbed worth a damn.
The only nice thing about the entire experience is that I bought it from Amazon, so it was incredibly unoppressive to return! Thanks, Amazon, for being so freaking awesome. . .

Major product
I have cardinal air, but my bedroom upstairs is usually 5-10 degrees warmer than the other bedrooms (vaulted highest). This product works perfectly even though the room is much larger than 250sq ft. This light AC only costs 50 cents a day to run, considerably less than running the central air. It's quieter than I expected and the air is very la. The only thing I don't like is the instruction manual - just not enough info. The exhaust hose must be mounted decently to the outside through a window. All portable AC units create a vacuum in the room and if the exhaust hose is not very nearly air tight, more warm air from outside will come in than cold air blowing out. I have had it for a week now and it has yet to necessity the water reservoir emptied.

9000 btu small air conditioner
I purchased this light air conditioner because my very old central air conditioner broke down. It will be a while before it can be repaired. So with the 100 degree days we've been having. I violently needed something to keep cool.
The portable air conditioner came well packaged. It was easy to put together. My only complaint would be the window adapter for the weaken doesn't fit my window. So I had to adapt it to fit. Otherwise, the air conditioner is quiet and cooled my bedroom and even an adjacent field in about about an hour. Keeping in mind it was close to 90 degrees in the house. The water pail holds about 2 gallons and took about 8 hours to fill on a VERY humid day.

air conditioner
I received this effect via UPS heavy load. I set this thing up, in hopes, of a portable A/C for our kitchen...not good. One, it is way to big and bulky for any live. Two, the exhaust hose, that you are required to use, cannot be flexed in any way. In other words, the unit has to be at least 4-5 ft away from a window and sit in the midst of a room. The window attachment could not be set up in our wndow, if used, I had to hacksaw it to make it fit. I decided that it would not labour for me. I then had to pay UPS to send it back, to the tune of 150.00! So, this is a product that cost more than 1/2 its price to return...so you superiority be sure its right for you..

Works well - some add'l modifications needed to set up
We purchased this section to help cool the 3rd floor of our townhouse which has been over 82 when the house AC is set to 77. (Temps have been in the ear-splitting 90s here in Northern Virginia). The unit is fairly quiet given the size. It has carrying handles on the side that made it calmly to lug up our 3 flights of stairs. The unit must be vented to the outside to release the heat. The hose was of dull length and the adapter piece for the window was adequate. We had to cut it to fit our window. We also had to make a trip to Peaceful Depot to purchase insulating foam and tape to help hold it in place and close up the air leaks. We have the unit in a small bedroom and it blows cool air into the hallway, a distance of about 7 feet. As far as fizzy water be illogical accumulating in the unit, we haven't had much. In our house it's about half full after running it for an entire day. This may change when the humidity comes back. I am very ecstatic we purchased this unit. We have been running it for 5 days and so far I would recommend it.

Soleus Air Condition leaks.?
Jul 30, 1794 by Alex | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I have a Soleus Air Conditioner standard# PH1-12R-03 that leaks all over the floor. It appears the ditch-water is coming from a small tube located at the bottom of the rear side. Is there alleged to be a plug or something that may be missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Show one's gratitude you!
It is a portable indoor unit.
There should be a unimportant rubber knob that fits over the tube, to plug it. I found with mine I was emptying the item every couple of hours so I attached a rubber hose and closed off the end. It lasts much longer now, Although, after 3 years, my portion is leaking not from the hose but overflowing from under the unit. I have been unable to crack this as of yet.

Soleus - 12,000 BTU portable air conditioner is leaking.?
Sep 08, 2008 by Rachel T | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Our soleus 12.000 btu seems to be leaking leaving my doormat very soaked. It seems to be leaking from the bottom of the unit not sure if it is only from the drain positioned at the back bottom of the unit. It seems to do this regardless of the humidity. And according to the manual, if the drench can not be exhausted fast enough the emergency tank should fill and the unit will bottle up off. Well, it is not shutting off. We are not sure how to fix this problem. Can you help?
Also, anyone have the Soleus contact #? I bought this from HSN but its been 2 yrs.
thanks
what is a organize?
Those carry-on units create a tremendous amount of condensation and often when they leak the exhaustion is not connected properly. The float in the pan is stuck or is not connected and is not shutting the entity like it is supposed to ,creating a flood.Find the drain and set up and see if you can correct them. Most times, the float simply needs organization.
Good luck.
