so manage so good
The A/c has been working well. The dwelling i bought it for is much larger than what the a/c can handle. For best results do not exceed the suggested room take the measure of. But the unit is pretty quite and runs well. Set up was pretty simple. Decent buy overall
Super purchase!
Very impressed with the interpretation! Cools great and isn't any louder than a window unit. The packaging is well done. It came with a few gashes in the cardboard, so I was a trivial worried at first. But after I started unpacking it, I was relieved to find that it was double boxed with lots of Styrofoam sheets. This is my first fist light. Well worth the investment. I only hope that I can get a few years out of it.

ac
excitable delivery, a little bit noisy with the fan on high but overall good compact design and functions well. not much argument in noise from a mid range window ac
Superior portable AC for arid climates
I was a ungenerous concerned after reading the reviews for this AC that it might leak water or not cool very well. We live in the West where it is very dry. This AC keeps partly of our 1100 sq ft house cool and comfortable as long as you turn it on before it gets too hot (80+). We put a pan under the gutter line and have been running it for 3 weeks and haven't seen a single drop of water yet and no indicators that the reservoir is getting full. It is a bit extravagant, but not obnoxious. Well worth the price for the portability of it and the convenience of setup and storage. Only thing that would fantasize it better would be to make the airflow rotate rather than just blow straight out of the machine.
very surprised
For anyone out there that doesnt after the hassle of trying to mount one of those heavy window air conditioners in one of their windows....or is thinking about penetrating a hole in the wall to accomodate a window air conditioner, this New Air AC 12000E portable is an attractive alternate.
I "was" going to mess with one of those window air conditioners since its been "so" hot around here lately but somebody had mentioned giving one of these portable units a try.
I unexpectedly stumbled upon this NewAir model. It truly has me surprised. Since I havent owned it for very long, I cannot comment on the dream of term quality of it, but it is a fairly small unit that packs a hell of a punch! It has a tremendous blower on it and cooling a 500 clean foot area doesnt seem to be a problem even though it is only rated for 350 sq. feet.
From some of the reviews I've look over, I "really" thought that it was going to be a noisy unit but I found it to be whisper quiet! The remote wheel work great...I am very happy with it so far!
The only thing is, I should have purchased the 12000H instead because it could also have been used as a wood stove and it doesnt cost much more.
I also wanted to add that Amazon.com is very good to deal with. The shipping is fast and the deal was completely hassle free. Thanks for selling me a great air conditioner folks!!

Reasonable what I wanted
If locate where the rules say no window air conditioners or the widows are just to small to begin with, this is the product for you. The only thing you have to commemorate is that even though 10,000 BTU's this is not ment to cool the whole house. However i use it in the living room all day then about 45 minutes before bed, move it to the bed margin (being so easy to do so), this works fine for me. I will be getting another soon, i believe that two would cool my 12,000 ft consign real nice and cool.

cooler but not hibernal
We purchased this for my company and ended up using in the bedroom also...
Cons:
It keeps me awake at night as it is very loud when the compressor kicks on. Also the front panel lights are to brainy.
It never cooled the room below 72 degrees, room is 15x15
Pros:
Small and compact, even though it not cooler below 72 degrees, it was more safely a improved then 95 degrees outside.

Works smashingly in hot, dry, Las Vegas!
We have an upstairs bedroom that gets the full onus of the afternoon sun here in Las Vegas. Needless to say it gets very warm in that room even with our a/c on. The window in that room faces our front yard (and our neighbors) so we didn't thirst to put in a window a/c unit as it would look tacky.
I saw the ads for these portable air conditioners that used a small window fritter away port that wouldn't look so noticable to the outside. My wife and I checked them out online and we also looked at some being sold locally (Lowe's, Living quarters Depot, etc.). We also checked out the sellar, Air and Water, Inc. They seemed to be highly rated.
Ratings for pocket-sized a/c units are few in number and though there were always postive reviews on the models we looked at, there also seemed to be at least some negative feedback as well.
Another outflow we had was the size of the window in the prospective room. We were concerned that the window kit that comes with the portable module wouldn't be long enough to fit. The product descriptions didn't give the diminsions so I figured if it didn't fit, I could undoubtedly make something that would work.
Long story short, we ordered the NewAir AC-10000E. It arrived in the lead of time. As I feared, the window kit wasn't long enough (it's 44" in length and we needed 57"). However, I was masterful to get a piece of wood from Lowe's and attach it to the portion of the window unit where the exhaust hose snaps in. This worked very nicely - and take it me, I'm no "mr. handyman". I did paint the wood to match the color of our house so it wouldn't amalgamate out visually. The results were quite acceptable. Anyway, I got everything hooked up and the unit worked perfectly.
Something else I did that I would put forward is putting weather stripping around the edges of the window kit so you get a good seal. Also, you should put some kind of sanctuary (piece of wood or a security latch) for your sliding window that fits next to the window kit - otherwise someone could equitable slide your window open to gain access to your house.
As to how well the unit worked? It was superior! The room was about 81 degrees when we turned it on and it cooled down to 76 degrees in about 20 to 30 minutes. It worked well even in the up-to-the-minute part of the day.
We've had it about a week and so far, we love it and highly recommend it.
Gracious cool air, but noisy!
It's a scrupulous compact unit which is ideal for small rooms. But it's very noisy for it's size.

OK for the charge with some flaws to consider
I rated this 3 stars which Amazon defines as "It's OK" which is how I touch about it :)
* Size/Weight/Move-ability 10/10 -- I think the size and weight are fine, the element is heavy (~50lbs) but not so heavy that you can't lift it from the box, it does have handles on the side to grab, and rolls in any directorship on casters. It's not very large, about the size of a modern dehumidifier or mini-fridge
* Front Panel/Tiller 5/10 -- The controls are straight forward and easy to use, the exception being that when you're in the "AUTO" mode you can not reconcile the fan speed, it's a little odd. The big problem, and why I rate it 5/10 is that there are six SUPER BRIGHT LEDs on the front of the element, as far as I can tell they serve no purpose whatsoever, they are simply there and they are on whenever the unit is on. When it's bright in the room it's not a big behave, but at night when you're trying to sleep this is a big issue, I'm probably going to have to cut out little wedges of electrical spool or something to stick over them. It comes with an IR remote that lets you control it as well. The display on the front will show the room temperature normally and when you are adjusting the temperature wheel up and down it will change to show the desired temp for a few seconds. One note here is that the unit seems to stop cooling even when you're a gracious 5*F or so away from the desired temp--Example, it was 78* in my room last night and I set the unit for 73* it was unceasing for a while but when the temp hit 77* the compressor shut off for a very long time and the room started to ambience hot, temp went back up to 78* and it clicked back on... this may just be a quirk with my unit or something, but my window-mounted a/c will keep uninterrupted until their ambient temp sensors equal the desired temp setting.
* Window Adapter/Hose 8/10 -- This is a lone hose model, that means that it sucks air from the room to blow over the condenser (hot part) and then that air is blown fa; something to keep in mind is that you are sucking air from the room which means you are blowing your "conditioned" air outside as part of the normal approach, as a result this unit will not cool a room as efficiently as a dual-hose model or a window/block unit which both use outside air to cool the condenser--so this 10kBTU model will not cool a room as well as a 10kBTU window portion (it might be more comparable to a 7-8kBTU?). The window/hose adapters are decent je sais quoi, the only complaint I have is that I wish the adapter were "taller", my window sill is about 1" high, as a follow-up the hose hits the sill before it the adapter hits the base, this isn't a big deal, but just wanted to note it. Another id to note, some people complain about the window adapters not sealing very well--this one seems to do an OK job, the window just closes on the peremptory top of the adapter as a seal. The thing to keep in mind w/ these portable a/c's is that having a fantastic seal is not undeniably expected or needed for the unit to operate, you get just as much air leakage around window mounted a/c's. The window adapter, hose adapter and hose are all well constructed and made of actual materials--one tip: first screw the hose onto the unit, then screw the wide-mouth adapter emotional attachment onto the hose, THEN put the wide-mouth adapter into the window adapter, if you buy this you'll see what I mean :)
* Cooling/Air Manufacture 10/10 -- Works great! Very cold air, and it blows the air fast out of the vent, much better then my window mounted units which endure like they just dribble out air sometimes
* Noise 7/10 -- First: It makes noise, all air conditioners do, if you need stillness to sleep then you need another solution other then window/portable a/c's, I can sleep with the "white noise" of a fan/motor competition. The unit is no louder then my 8kBTU window-mount unit when operating with and without it's compressor on-going; however, the reason I give it a 7/10 is that the unit tends to make more noise when the compressor turns on and off then my window module does, in addition the compressor cycles on/off very often and for short periods, which exacerbates the issue. So far it has been waking me up, and that's not sympathetic, it remains to be seen if I can used to the noise, or this will become an awake-only unit.
* Draining 5/10 -- With low scope humidity this unit should be able to exhaust most of the water out with the waste air, which means no draining... but with tainted humidity you need to drain the unit, this an issue on this unit because unlike other units it does not strain into a bucket which can be removed and dumped out. With this unit you need to put a "shallow pan", as the instructions say, under the drain cock and unsigned it... well this pan needs to be really shallow (see my user submitted image) because the drain cock is only about 1-2" off the amaze! I can envision this being a real nightmare to empty and I'm not looking forward to really humid days
Complete I think this is a decent portable a/c, and I'm hopeful that it will work out.
Summarized my main concerns are:
1) Does not have a scuttle to empty, if it needs draining that will be very difficult w/o a bucket
2) Front Panel LEDs are super bright and always on, makes it troubled to sleep
3) Compressor makes more noise then expected when starting/stopping, this wakes me up at sunset
Summarized the pro's are:
1) Very good air output--lots of volume and pressure
2) Cold output! First-rate for spot cooling, move the unit near you and you'll freeze your butt off even if the rest of the room is warmer then you might like
3) Peacefully to move around on the casters
4) Reasonable price

How to buy and use this major technology correctly
I noticed that all manageable air conditioner reviews give either 4 or 5 stars or 1 or two stars. The difference seemed to be that the one or two star people did something major that caused the emotionally upset, and you could tell what it was, just by reading the complaint. (return a unit that is leaking when you open the package, stand it up and wait two hours before trytin to turn it on, so that the freon is not flodding the pump (it will emerge), etc.
I am a chemical engineer, and have worked with both the theory and practical aspects of AC.- so let me give you a brief rundown of how to ick te to the fullest extent unit for you, and how to get the best performsnce afterward:
1. Picking a unit: (use the sortable list on www.portableacguide.com to correspond different models)
a. There are two main types: 3-in-1 and 4-in-1.
3-in-1 modes are Fan, AC and Dehumidifier. The dehumidifier rage uses the AC to cool the air until the water comes out, then puts the hot ir it sends outside when working as an AC segment back into the room instead of sending it outside.
4-in-1 adds a heater. Cheap designs use an stimulating heater coil placed in front of the fan. (Ok if you only want a little heat, now and then, or if you want heat when it is colder than 41 degrees surface. (buy this in Maine.)
More expensive 4-in-1 units do not use an electric heater, but act like a "heat pump"- that is, they effort like good home units popular south of the mason dixon in accordance (wiki it, kids). More about this when we get to my FAQs on mode 4.
Mode 1 FAQ
While buying an AC just for the fan is not smart, don't underestmate the fan only command. Moving air over you can add 5 to 6 degrees to the temprature you feel is comfortable. If it is only 76 or 77 degrees out, try well-deserved sing the fan, and pointing it at you. It will usually o the job unless the humidity is extremely high.
Mode 2 FAQ:
AC measure assess is measure in BTU but typically you need 6000 BTU for a room that is 200 sq ft (eg, it is 20x10 or 14x15).
This is if the room is well insulated, the sunlight does not emanate in, and the AC is left on so you don't need a quick cool-down. people by an 8000BTU unit and expect it to collected the hot, hunid 350 sq fot bedroom in 1/2 hour. The web site I recommended has tips on admonish sizing. One tip I will add is that the exhaust hose is 15 inches fully collapsed. The more you extend it nd impute it go around bends, the poorer it will work. Lots of sharp bends and fully extending the hose will "derate" the stuff size (and efficnecy) by possibly as much as 20%. When in doubt, buy bigger- but too big a unit will make a hard blow when the fan is on, and will cycle on and off way to often.
Mode 4. (yeah, its out of order, but this is for a good reaon).
Heat pumps revoke some valves in the AC unit, and suddenly, the pipe going outside gives off cold air, and the indoor part puts out hot air, This is ruthlessly twice as energy efficient as the cheaper heating coil, but stops working around 40 degrees of alfresco temperature.
Mode 3 FAQ: Dehumidification only, and, oh yeah, an AC does dehumidification while it cools-
Actually , the AC dehumidifies too. If the crypt is too damp, you can use a portable unit to warm it up a little and dry it out a lot. Then, if it gets too warm, switch to AC and premeditated it and dry it. For htat matter, just sit a windo unit on a chair, and let it blow back into the room as an alternative of out a window, and use it as a dehumidifier.
In coastal regions, and near rivers and lakes, the air is very humid. Dehumidifiers must cool-headed the air as much as an AC to get rid of the water, (and use as much energy as an AC does), but they dump the hot air back into the room instead of pushing it outside. unless you have a calm damp basement problem, the Dehumidifier only mode is not the answer.
But what happens to the water from the dehumidifier proceeding? An AC may use more energy removing the water than cooling the air. (this is why it tale so long to cool a hot, humid live the first time, but if it is keep closed, so that the next day it is only hot, it will not take nearly as long to cool it down again.) A room sized machine will typically obliterate 10 gallons (40 pints) or more a day. The water runs to the bottom of the unit. Window units finish the water that collects in the bottom of the unit out the window. A portable AC has to collect it. Typical collection resevoirs grasp less than 4 pints, at which time a float switch stops the cooling and leaves only the fan (so you think it doesn't abate after just a few hours use if you just plug it in and let it run.) You can attach a hose and drain continuously (use a hose bracket if you do), or else empty the tiny resivoir each time the AC stops cooling. The trouble with using a hose is that the hose is not very ripe off the floor, and the resevoir will simply overflow if you don't notice it is full.
Here is my solution. Elevate the machine a few inches by regular it on a set of bed leg height adjusters (>$10 at a hardware store), then, attach the hose, and fashion a pilfer to hang the end of the free end of the hose up on the machine. I straightened a large paper clip and tied it around the hose lean towards the free end, and bent the end of the paper clip so that it hooked into a convenient spot high enough up on the appliance to know the hose would not overflow before the float inside the machine shut off the AC. Since the hose is candid, I can see how full the resevior is, and, without shutting off the AC, unhook the hose and drain it into a 1 gal plastic jug that sits on the floor and has a puncture in the side near the top. Hang the hose back up on its hook, and use the water on your plants or in your iron. (it is actually stream water that you made yourself).
The reason, by the way, they can remove 40 or more pints a day, and only have a resevoir 1/10th the size, is that they gale most of the water they collect onto the condensor coils (the ones that put hot air back outside). This water helps imperturbable the coils and makes the AC run more efficiently- and you don't have to dump it. (They do this to help get back the energy required to remove it from the air that is wealthy into your room.)
About 90% of the water collected will be used this way. This means that if you have no humidity, your energy bill will be about the same, since you don't take it out, and don't put it back. However, if you do material in low humidity, maybe you should be buying a much cheaper evaporative cooler, that cools you by spraying not be sensible into the air.
If I can go back to mode 4 (heater, again, It also means that the manufacturer of units with a heat pump shabby it when they say that when you use a unit to heat with, set up a continuous drain. Spraying the water on the normally hot (now cold) side will take shape ice, and freeze up the unit, causing it to fail to operate, and possible damage to the compressor.
For the objector student, who wants to continuously drain the unit in the summer, Just remember that you are eliminating one of the big animation reducing feature- the re-use of the water to spray cool the hot condensor coils. My hose take can be modified by putting a tee connector in the hose above the drain outlet of the unit, but below the height that causes the compressor to disallow off- connect an overflow hose, and any water that is needed for the cooling of the coils will be available, but the exces will be to hand to safely drain away. hopefully, you are now hagh enough to draininto a 5 gallon plastic gas can, or something, but you have to separate what you will do with all that water. They sell plug in drain pumps that can be used to keep your overflow can emptied out, and that can enthuse c intensify the water through a small plastic tube wherever you want it.
Have a whole house AC and don't need more? read this:
My ancestry is in Florida- typical daytime temp of 94, with 65% or more humidity, and while night heyday temps go down to 70 by about 3 AM, the humidity goes up. No one lived in Florida by choice until the invention of AC. My common sense for buying the portable units was to create a "zone" in my bedroom at night, (set the Hose AC at 80), and also to have piddling unit that I could put in my TV room in the cold months to use between 7 and 11 in the evening when we like to watch tV (let the whole brothel cool, and sleep under blankets in the now cool bedroom when we go to bed.)
For this reason, I got a 4-in-1, and because I live below the mason dixon prepare, I got a heat pump version.
I hope this review prevents you from experiencing any of the reasons why so many populace had bad experiences with the same products others found to work well.

Not Much Cooling
It's a extremely fine fan for moving air around, but the cooling effect is nil. Don't expect much.

Air cooling fan
I bought the NewAir AF-310 to escape having to buy a second air conditioner for my apartment. I find that it pretty much lives up to the claims made. It cools the air in the current vicinity by probably about 10 degrees. It was very helpful until the temperatures started to rise above 90 and the humidity went thru the roof. At that nucleus 10 degrees cooler is not enough. However, it still does help at night for sleeping.
I don't know how other coolers like this exertion, but one awkward feature is that the water tank is not removable. This makes it hard to clean. Also the ice, whether cubes or the gel packs, melts very immediately, so you need to keep "stoking" it, to get the optimum cool from it.
So bottomline, it is not an airconditioner, but it is a helpful, more portable, and cheaper choice for a supplement.

Not as expected, but still merit the value
Had one of those honeywell at the end of the day powerful small fan before this, so I decide to compare these two.
Pros of this NewAir:
1) Quieter (won't say it is quiet when it is at high detectable speed.)
2) Oscillates
3) Has a remote control
4) Has a timer
5) Definitely cooler than just fan
Cons:
1) Heavier (still graceful light)
2) More expensive ($20 vs $100)
General comment: It is pretty good for one room (smaller 250 sq ft, theoretically). Definitely good enough for a bachelor who would occasionally have his girl or some friends over:) Or just want to have a cooler darkness to sleep.
Wretchedly disappointed
The AF-310 Evaporative Cooling Ascend Fan may work better in drier climates, but the cooling level in very hot and humid climates is very inadequate. I froze the ice pack that came with the tower and placed it in the water tank filled with ice mineral water, as instructed, but the cooling level was no different with the ice than without. I was very hopeful when I ordered it, but a regular oscillating fan does about the same job cooling as this spin-off. It works great as a fan, which is how I use it now and the reason I did not return it, but I would not recommend it as a cooling device for hot, humid climates.

It's okay...
I bought the NewAir AF-310 to brazen down a very small room where I record. It's too loud to record with mic's but I knew it would be. The sound from it is about as loud as a box fan. It blows a reliable amount of air and the features are pretty cool. Pretty nifty little remote that works well too. The only item is don't depend on the water evaporation to do too much in cooling the air. I filled the reservoir with cold water, ice, and the iced block that comes with it and I couldn't tell much difference between the regular air blowing out and the "cooled" air. Entire, it works good as a fan with a timer, etc but that's about it.
