outstanding price works well!
it's sad all the bad reviews but fairly when you buy the cheapest thing on the market your going to get a few duds i bought 6 for about $600 tax and all they kept my diet nice and cool they are for a small room after 1st year one started to shock when touched lol 2nd year one started making a outcry 4th year i ran a screw in one by mistake freon leaked out 5th year i lost 2 of the last 4 this year i'm only using one at the period. it can keep my room at 60 degrees the down fall is if it's cool out side then the a/c won't come on outside tempature shouldn't disconcert the a/c from working wall units are much cheaper then running central to 8 rooms and the 2 bathrooms and larder. i can turn it on one room then at night turn on the batroom for bathtime it dropped me electric bill like $200 a month so 6years x 4months x $200 = $4800 - $600 =$4200 in savings much improve!

I would say this yield is super sturdy. Each summer, I remove it from storage and jamm it in my bedroom window for supernumerary cooling. /peak shaving and it works and works.. perfectly since 2004. my texas summers are 104 F.
this hem thing is nt showing any signs of aging.. saving me a ton. as I dont use my central AC in the night ( why quiet the entire home) when I use the bedroom only for 9 hours

Not cooling after 1.5 years
Was a decorous deal when I purchased the small window a/c, and cooled nicely for about 1.5 years. Now, it doesn't level-headed at all.

Goldstar (LG Corp) 5050 air conditioner education ESN 'educationally subnormal'
I purchased this window air conditioner at a Southern California Walmart in July, 2003 for $125. After lugging it cuttingly, I installed it in my bedroom(15X15)- window. It worked well during that summer, but now (June, 2004) it no longer cools sufficiently - it has become more like a window fan. I cycled it off and on every month during the lifetime winter (Southern California style)as advised in the included instruction manual. The vade-mecum states a one year free maintenance guarantee, but doesn't tell you about the $50/hour diagnostic order levied by their affiliated independent service organization. I am very disappointed with this Goldstar unit, and would definitely not advantage another. I previously owned a GE 5000 btu model and it was much more durable.

Satisfactory buy for the money...
While not the most item face-rich air conditioner (there's nothing electronic whatsoever about the thermostat and fan controls), it certainly gets the job done for shoddy.
Cools a single room reasonably, and in multiples of 2 or 3, it can take on most entire apartments.

Don't emaciate your hard earned money!
I purchased this air conditioner for $180.00 new. I second-hand it three times and it just stopped working. There is a circuit breaker on the end of the power supply twine of this unit. It must provide some sort of voltage drop that the unit senses. Anyway, the breaker on the rope didn't just kick, it died. Hence, the unit ceased to function at all. I contacted several part suppliers and the lowest value I found on a replacement cord was $59.00. For that amount I could almost buy a new yet smaller A.C. unit. The price is high, the quality is at the very largest, POOR, the parts are outrageous if you can find them, and I will NEVER own another goldstar product. Take my advice and go for a G.E. product.

You cannot curb this AC WITH A VACATION POWER TIMER
The AC is all right except for one thing... it can only be turned on and off by use of the remote control and or the on-unit push switches. I.E. If you set the temperature and stopper the unit into one of those timers that have the nibs that over 24 hours, will turn power on and off, you will have no luck operating this (and unquestionably many other) modern AC units. Turning on the power only serves to turn on the Infrared sensor, you still have to physically spur the buttons to make the AC unit cool the air. This makes this a very poor choice for those who travel and lack to keep a room cool while on the road.

Most desirable window unit I have ever owned
We replaced a Fedders section recently and decided to try this unit. It turned out to be the best move we could have made. I like the unit so much I am buying another one to repay our living room unit (which is currently working fine)....Having the faint control and the timer on/off capability is fantastic. Its like having central air....I produced home and the air has been on since 4 30pm....I love it. PS--Our electric bill went down.

It is new only 2 months old and it strike one like the fan is coming off. but it still putting cold air out does anyone recognize what could be going on ? Plz help my 4 yr old son need the A/C
First of all, take it back. Only two months old? Closely all of them have a 12 month warranty. If you can't do that, post the MODEL and SERIAL include and then I can help more by getting parts drawings and so on through the net. There are great product repair places on the web. i have a goldstar air conditioner that goes in the window. i've had it for about two years. due recently i noticed it is hardly blowing any air out. it still runs but there is very crumb air coming out of the vents. any ideas?

2. Has there been any unusual noises coming from the unit that would insinuate that the fan blades have become jamed or broken?

I bought a Goldstar window air conditioner (5000 BTU). Does it paucity some sort of cover to protect it from the rain? Or is it ok if it gets rained on? Because I have seen window air conditioners with covers on them before, so I don't exceptionally know and it doesn't say anything in the instructions.
It"s healthy for the part outside to get wet. People will sometimes cover them for the winter.
