Reliable AC for a budget
My economize on and I decided to buy this AC because our upstairs bedroom was so hot at night. We didn't want to spend a lot of money and only needed the bedroom to be deadening for sleeping. The unit works just fine. If you turn it on full blast, it takes ruthlessly 30 minutes or less to get pretty cool / cold. We have noticed that it sometimes makes a clicking turmoil when it is running, and we aren't sure why. Usually, it's not enough to really wake us up, but we have turned the unit off in the gone and forgotten to make it stop clicking in the room while we sleep. Overall, it's a good, cheap election for a small room. Just as a side note, remember that this unit does not come with a slight.
Brrrrrrrrr!
I bought this AC for a inconsequential 6'x 12' study which adjoins my 10'x16' bedroom--both rooms are on the top floor which grill all day. When I'm in the study, I have to set it at low cool because it gets too cold. On unbearably hot nights, I first cool the bedroom with another AC in that space, then I just use the Frigidaire in the study. The Frigidaire keeps the bedroom comfortable all night without the AC noise being in the same room--which was the saneness I hardly used the bedroom AC in the first place. Love this little baby!
What a trade
I out quite a bit of time researching A/C before purchasing. We live in Oregon and it doesn't get too hot but there's a month or two in the summer where the enthusiasm and humidity get oppressive in the house. I wanted an inexpensive, small, window A/C to increase the solace. I wanted something small enough that I can store it the other 10 months.

So, after much research I ordered this model. I was active to get the 6K BTU model with the electronic controls but I figured I would get something super cheap and if it didn't work I could use it as a only room cooler. Shipped free which makes this a pretty good deal. Indoors in about a week.

Installation was easy, following the instructions in the manual. I did have to install and remove the A/C about 3 times to get all the sealing good. In the box there's a lot of different thicknesses of foam and foam tape. There is no specific instructions about what to do with this, except the stuff for the top gap of the northern sash. So, I experimented with various combos to get a good seal. We have recent vinyl windows with screens but no storms so the section basically dropped right in. However, there are some gaps around the bottom in this configuration. I stuffed these with the thickest foam that came with the section. This did the trick but didn't look too great. Luckly I ordered extra foam ribbon as another reviewer recommended, and I used small pieces of that to caulk around it inside and outside, leaving the big spume inside. It actually looks pretty neat and professional. $4 well spent ;)

Anyway, the part is installed in our main living room. We are in a 1940's box bungalow so this room is about half of the broadness and length of the house. The bedrooms and kitchen connect to it. With it on HI cool/Max(7) the entire assembly has been very cold and huge amounts of water have been pulled out. We will see how it performs in the upcoming week of 95+ temps. We keep a few $10 box fans around to disseminate air so I can move the cold air around.

One thing is that I have heard mentioned on a few other models is that the fan catches water in the pan and spits it around. This is a spot and not a bug ;). The unit is designed to pitch backward slightly when properly mounted. Moisture removed from the extent collects at the bottom. The fan blade is coated in rubber and it's designed to suck water up and spray it on the evaporator coils. This facilitates some precooling of the facing air. It drastically increases efficiency. I would not drill drain holes, as other people have mentioned.

Pr:
$100, and my house is cold AND quiet. You can't say much more. If it's not enough for the hottest day I might get one more and move them to the bedrooms. It's very quiet on low but I like white clamour.. I hope it lasts, even if it doesn't I'd gladly pay another $100 in 2 years.
Less ill than expected!
I bought this a/c for the most part because of the price. It has completely exceeded my expectations. It is cooling three rooms in the downstairs of our house (about 600 sq ft). And I have yet to revolution it over to "high cool". It's also quieter than I expected. Well worth it's low price!
Rises Above Expactations
I got it hoping it would keep my spot cool-ER. I expected it to keep it comfortable, not cold. I also had a bit of a problem with size. The only window that opens in my dwelling-place is a vertical sliding window, which Air Conditioners I can afford, aren't made for.
Once I received it, I started to assemble and establish. Originally I was going to leave the extensions off, since my window was only 18 inches wide, but after I got it and small amount about it more, I realized they could still help keep it supported. So I put them on. They are about an inch inside the window, to help it from falling out. Also, I from day one hoped to buy some wood and put that above it, but once I saw how sturdy it was with just the extensions, I put cardboard above it and plastic taped around the edges with passageway tape. Very red neck, I know. It's sealed with the help of some other bits that came with it to help seal it.
I installed it a negligible over 12 hours ago and my home is cold. I live in a house above a garage. Just a sturdy living room, average bathroom and small bedroom. It's 621 SQ Feet.(assuming I did the math technically. 23 x 27 feet.) This is total, but there are 3 separate rooms here. (Also, I have a low ceiling, only 6.5 Feet.) I placed it in my only orifice window in the living room and it keeps the bathroom cold which is closest, and my bedroom unbelievably cold too, which is farthest. A lot larger than advertised for. I didn't care, I needed a little cooler than I had. Before, it was hotter lining than it was outside. I have it on high, but will consider turning it down, which I never thought I would do. I like the cold. It's THAT cold.
For $110, I got an awesome air conditioner that perform WAY better than expected/advertised and it got here exceptionally fast too. It arrived 4 life after I ordered it with standard shipping and handling. I am a very happy costumer.

Skilled but not Great
The safe stuff; This unit does do a good job of cooling a large room as advertised. The wheel work OK.

The bad stuff; The packaging is flimsy. The bottom of the carton fell apart when we tried to pick it up (wouldn't it be in Frigidare's greatest interest to make a sturdy shipping carton?). The bottom corners of the casing (all 4) were dented from uncompleted treatment. And be warned, if you are installing this unit into a casement window you had better have the following vacancy dimentions - width between 15 1/2" and 16 1/4" (not much room for error here), height no taller than 39 7/16", or you better have some skills because you are prevailing to need them to make it fit. My window opening was 22" and the height was 43" so I had to buy a piece of 3/4" plywood (at $64) and occasion an insert for the window opening that the unit would fit into. It would have been better if my window was a sliding unit, the calibre wouldn't have mattered but the height would still have been a problem.

My reservations about ordering online are confirmed...
We have a 14 x 30 live with two big picture windows that faces the sun. It gets hotter in the room than outside because of the greenhouse object. We ordered this unit and got promotional free two day shipping. It actually arrived a day earlier than they said it would. The instructions were zealous to understand, but if you've ever installed an air conditioner, then it'll be easy. The mounting bracket and space filler were cosy to install. This unit is cooling our room nicely.

I was uneasy about ordering online because of all the diluted product complaints, but did it anyways. The unit arrived and we could immediately tell it had been dropped on its part. The metal on the corner is buckled and the front faceplate is cracked. The unit is working properly so far though. I'm in the prepare of contacting the seller to discuss another faceplate. I'll cross my fingers.

I would recommend this unit, but am still shot of having things delivered. My feelings were justified with this order.

UPDATE: 20 minutes later I Googled Amazon.com, LLC Fellow Service and got their number. (18002017575) Told them about damage and was given 3 choices: 1) bring back for refund 2) return for exchange 3) accept 15% discount ($70.50). The portion works and the idea of taking it out and packing up turns me off, so we'll take the discount and order a replacement faceplate at the close by appliance store.

Customer service acted as if it has happened before and was pretty straight support with the three choices, so my anxiety about having things delivered is even more confirmed.
BAD BAD BAD Utility
My whole review is based upon the fact that the air conditioner showed up on my doorstep in a crushed box. Unit was of course damaged but they delivered it anyway. Called amazon and complained and was told they would "rush" me a replacement but that it would not come for 5-8 business days. The damaged one was delivered 2 days after order was placed...not much of a ferment. Very disappointed in amazon. Customer service was horrible. Can't give any information on the actual air conditioner except that it looked precise.
Still humming along profound!
We bought this air conditioner in the summer of '08 to supplant an old one that had gone kaput. We needed this configuration because we have unusually shaped windows in our living live. Here in the SE corner of Colorado the majority of summer days pass the 100 degree register, but this machine keeps the western side of our house nice and cool, at just a mid range frame of 74. I would buy another one of these without hesitation, but I doubt I will have to do this any time soon.
Peace of mind Powerful and Packaged Like a Tank
Had objective bought a Kenmore 10,000 btu - similar in size. The Kenmore on high fan was pathetic so I ordered the Frigidaire - I could not be convinced of how well it was packaged! The fan is much more powerful (but quiet) and there is no drip hole - the Kenmore dripped like nonsensical but the Frigidaire has a drip pan that I guess helps with the energy efficiency. Great feature!! My porch is normal below the unit and it barely drips at all! even on humid days.

Highly Recommend this product.

Customer Reviews

Worst engineering I've ever seen.
Much like the other one-nova review, I got one with a functional compressor and a dead fan. Frigidaire confirmed that it would need to be returned, so I ran with it.

Amazon was momentous on this part, cross-shipping the replacement with one-day shipping. A+ on that regard.

However, today I get my replacement, and it's the same deal. This one, when I rig out the fan on, I can hear it start to spin and then bump into something. I dig out the flashlight and a coat hanger to spin the fan jackknife so I can see what it's hitting, figuring something might have gotten bumped or dinged in shipping. Lo and behold, the copper pipes are routed through the scenario of the fan. I'm going to repeat that.

The copper pipes leading from the compressor are routed through the path of the fan.

There is word for word no way the fan would ever work without physically contorting the frame of the unit to bend the compressor mount at best far enough out of the way.

How this ever passed QC I will never know, but you can believe I won't ever be buying another Frigidaire product. Defects occur, it's part of the normal place. This, however, was just poor engineering in the first place.
At home DOA
When the module arrived, the compressor worked, but the fan did not. I called one of the repair centers that Frigidaire provide, and they said that this was a "replacement element," and that it could not be repaired.

Now we're stuck with a useless AC in our window and nobody to come repair it.

BLARGH.

EDIT: After spending more at the same time on the phone with Frigidaire, I found out that a replacement unit is one that cannot be repaired. They have to have the entire unit replaced. Evidently, someone will call me to set up an exchange of some sort.

There's really no way this could be less convenient.
With the exception of Unit, Well Made
I barely installed this, no problems, I'm very happy with it. I was going to buy the 8000 BTU model FAA086P7A just above it, but the reviews were very adversarial due to noise. This unit is quiet, and 6000 BTU turns out to be more than enough for my application. Technically, this may be a discontinued facsimile, as the Frigidaire website lists FAA065P7A at the time I purchased this. The latter unit, which is still available through Amazon sellers but not via Amzn Prime, has a slight higher EER of 10.7 (vs 9.7 for this). If there is any other difference, I can't see it in the pictures or the description. This is a good unit, with some polished features, like a fan that senses sudden changes in temperature, as when a door opens, in which example in any event it automatically blows harder to cool down the room. Pretty nifty. It has a quality increase, with a nicely finished steel cabinet with thick enamel finish. The remote is easy to use and works well. Most effective, the unit cools well, and does so quietly. I do recommend it.

Customer Reviews

Had it for a month and am very tickled pink so far
If you are looking for an a/c that is prospering to turn a large space into Antartica, this isn't the a/c for you ... but if you have a mid-sized room and want it tidy and cool with low humidity, you will love this a/c. Really does a good job. The sleep mode is eager, as are the fan controls. I'm not sure how accurate the temp on the remote is as it always feels quite a bit cooler in here than the subtle indicates, but maybe that's because my desk is only a few feet away from the unit. Easy as pie to install, no injure during shipping or delivery.
Getting warmer.......
Been using this 1 day in 3 for a month or so. Initially it was Siberian (not ice cold - but plenty cold to cool the room (and adjoining rooms).

Like the other reviewer mine at home with one vent disconnected. Not a big deal. It was very well packaged and 5 minutes to install.
The fit and finish is great.

Today it was mignonne humid out but only 86 degrees. We have had the unit running for a few hours at max cool and it really has not frozen things down. In some parts of the room it does not feel like it is working. The air at the vent is reasonably absolutely - but not what it was. I will give it another day or two and be making a decision on calling. Will keep you in the loop.
Goodness, but energy saver?
I bought this to refund a Kenmore which had a mechanical thermostat and as the temp outside cooled, required constant alignment.

Pros:
Nice fit/finish.
Lots of installation accessories.
Digital thermostat keeps privileged temp very stable.
Customer Service tried hard to help.

Cons:
Upon new chum, both thumb vent control shafts were out of their sockets and outside air control would not budge. Both problems required removing the vents.
Animation saving fan mode is bizarre. It cycles the compressor in less than a minute at times, and I can't begin to comprehend what the fan speed algorithm is. Bottom line is that the energy mode is not practical to use and when not in energy savings status, the fan alone draws 120-160 watts constantly!

Get an vehicle electrician to check your system and all the appliances. If you start changing waves or uprating fuses there's a chance you will melt some of your wiring, maybe resulting in a fire and you definitely don't want that. Good luck.
