Customer Reviews

it's justifiable not good
I was effective through the reviews here and was chosing this unit based on the reviews. Looks like I got the last one and the seller isn't restocking it, doubtlessly for a reason. The unit comes on, then runs for about 10 minutes and then shuts the cooling off, goes back to fan method. I have to turn it off for 15-20 minutes for the compressor to come back on more or less. I am extremely disappointed with it. Not saying that the other reviewers were flop, but I probably got a lemon.

The problem with any Air condition via mail order is the weight and the shipping cost. When I reached the checkout, the huge 399 price had turned into something like 480 with the shipping cost. Now assume I wanted to fix up it and have to ship it somewhere, pay again 70-80 $, probably twice for there and back again? I should have gone to the local Lowes or Sears bank and got one there. I would have paid a slightly higher price but with the extremely high shipping cost, this doesn't purport much, not to mention that any repair for a mailorder AC is basically useless, you may as well buy a new one especially since there's no guarantee that one repair will fix it.

Peradventure I can save somebody from making the same mistake. If you are looking for a portable Air Condition: Go to your local set aside and get it from there. Don't buy via mailorder!

Addendum: I called Edge Star about it. At the second call I got a terribly arrogant guy on the phone who offensively told me my unit was "too big for the room" and that I should buy another unit. Yep, sure after just shelling out 480$ for it I go and buy another one. After me being resolved, he explained to me that the temperature shown on the display isn't the temperature the unit "sees' internally. It has a fall temperature sensor on the coils in a white clip and that sensor tells the unit to box in off because its cold enough while the room really isn't. It's a common problem with oversized units. I learned that later on the internet. The clarification for me is to remove that clip and to lead the sensor outside of the casing. I did that and although the wire is short, the constituent is now running for 20 minutes uninterrupted. He says it would "ruin the unit" though and void the assurance. It's everybody's choice to do something like that, don't say I put you up to this. But for me it's the logical choice. A unit with a shortened lifespan is healthier than one I can't use at all and the warranty is a joke anyway if you have to pay shipping for 70 lbs.

So for me this works which is why I upgrade the rating to 2 stars, but it doesn't justify more in my eyes becasue I had to fiddle to make it work and "voided the warranty" :)

Is cooling my 1100 sq ft condo so far
I researched this offshoot like CRAZY!! My 1972 Central A/C compressor went out and we are approaching summer in FL. There was no fixing it and replacing the compressor would rate around $2k, maybe more because we live in a condo and our outside unit is on the roof. We are not staying in this house crave and so I did not want to drop that kind of money in it. Our association does not allow window units and, while I wouldn't inescapably let that stop me, our windows were not suitable for a heavy unit.

Let me tell you how happy I am that I got this unit. I was with a bun in the oven it to just cool our upstairs and that I would need to get another one for the downstairs. I'm no scientist (actually, I am sort of... Unattached of Science, LOL) but I did remember that hot air rises, so having the unit upstairs and set at a low temperature while also having an oscilating fan in front of it (I keep it anywhere from 72-74) I have been adept to cool the whole house!! Another plus is that I now have a portable A/C that I can take with me when I move. If I need it to cool down the garage, I can. If I need it to imperturbable down a camper, I can. Love it!

If you are looking to buy a portable, definitely get a two hose unit. I will save you nonetheless and tell you that I have read TONS of complaints about every one-hose unit out there. This one cools as close to how a window A/C would and I don't dearth to have it hanging out a window, just the vent. BTW, I had the unit in my room and cooling 20 minutes after I got it in the entry. While I was sweating, getting it out of the box and installed (hey, I'm a big guy, whaddaya want?) my hallway thermometer was 83 degrees. An hour after I started it, we were at 77!!

If anything goes calumniate I will update but for now, this Florida boy is glad he can sleep in a cool house.

P.S. The seller (Compact Relevance) was very quick!! I ordered it on a Monday morning around 5am EST and it was waiting for me at my door that Thursday afternoon with archetype shipping.
Pure little unit
This Piece does pretty well for the price. For those of us with windows that do not fit well with regular AC units, this is a good alternative.

There are three adapter plates that fit together to fill the relaxation of the window opening, it will fill an opening approximately 5 feet high by 8" wide, or an scope 5 feet wide by 8" high.

You attach the hoses to the unit, and then attach the plates to the other end of the hoses.
You manifest your window, then put the plates into the window, and close the window back onto the plates.

There are TWO hoses (about 6" diameter) and the hoses are only about 4 feet hanker. This makes it a bit difficult to place the adapter plates in a window, but it can be done. Also, there is no gasket around the plates which leaves a grudging air gap.

As I use this with my sliding glass door (which is 7 feet tall), I had to fill the 2 foot gap between the top of the plates and the top of my door.

This all works, but leaves me pensive that i could have designed a better hose/plate assembly. The AC unit itself is great.

When the temperature was in the 90's it refrigerated a fairly large room down into the upper 70's, and when the temperature got over 100, this unit frozen the room down enough to be bearable, down to about 86 degrees I think.

All in all I am happy with the AC unit. the hose/laminate assembly leaves something to be desired, or I would have rated this a 5 star.

Very satisfied
Complete, I have been very satisfied with the cooling ability of the unit. Out of the box, it was simple to set up and install, although the included window emanation adapter is not high quality (easy enough to make a solid one yourself). The unit has been working nights with shell temperatures between 80 and 85 and easily brings the indoor temperature of our bedroom down to 68 while the log a few zees Z's of the house is set to 78 on the central AC.
Pros: cost; low noise; dual hose in point of fact eliminates the need to drain the unit; cooling ability.
Cons: poor window adapter

Customer Reviews

Something questionable here!
I mainly research a product to death before purchasing it. I have been following the Edgestar Extreme Cool AP 12000 HS. Although I protection't actually purchased one, "red flags" keep popping up with this product. Perhaps it has something to do with customer service or marketing, I,m not satisfied. First of all, any search engine you use to locate this particular model leads you to the same three companies (Compact, Handy, and Living Direct). The illusion is that there is an assumption that these three companies are separate competing entities when they perform to be related or are in fact, one and the same entity! "Red flag" number two is that when I had called customer service at Laconic for product information, the representative spoke in a slurred tone to where I couldn't understand her name. When I asked if she could recount her name more clearly, she appeared to get annoyed and the rest of our conversation was very tense.....as if she didn't have a mind to deal with customers that wanted to understand every word. She hung up on me despite the fact that I was diplomatic...not a good sign of a professionally run organization. "Red Flag" number three is that when I e-mailed a complaint about my go through with the previous customer service rep., the response was one where no apology was given and the problem that I had was totally unseen. All I was given was the web site of the three companies that I could order the unit from, which I already obviously had. "Red Flag" number four was that all of a unwonted they have a number of these units that are being sold for about $100.00 less as "open boxed" units. They are basically returned units and are very likely "refurbished". That's all fine and dandy except that if you Buy one of these, there is a clause in the sales agreement that states you cannot return it because of "Consumer's Remorse". What kind of signal does that send? If you add up all four "red flag" events, I feel as though I would be plopping down around $400 bucks on a roulette edibles, hoping that the ball will fall into my slot. Maybe, I,m being overly cautious...maybe I,m smelling something odd here! You make the call.......
Not As Advertised
SO this section works very well if no hotter than 82 degrees outside. If its hotter than 82 degrees the constituent will only spit out 63 degree air. Which cools a little bit but does not make the cold by any means. I'm advantageous if I can hold 73 degrees average room temp with another fan blowing. I have a instant presume from thermometer I used to test the unit. I have had it for about 2 months now. My office is about 210sq ft and in a vault (no direct sunlight). They advertise that this is a 12k BTU unit (its not) and that it can cool up to a 425sq ft room. It can't.

In dehumidifier unsophisticatedly dose not work until you install a condensation pump. The unit is advertised as "exhausts most or all condensate unconsciously except under extreme humidity situations" This is the case when the A/C is on but not the dehumidifier. I don't have a damp or wet basement by any means, however while in dehumidifier trend the condensation just does not exhaust like in A/C mode. Without the condensation pump, the piece will shut off after about an hour because "internal reservoir" is full. The reservoir holds about 20 ounces, and you indigence to go to the back of the unit to drain it. This is messy to do, due to the drain being right at floor level.

The unit itself was tuppenny compared to brand name, I paid $380 with free shipping. However now today was an exceptionally hot day and my item isn't really cooling, i would have rather spend the extra $300 and purchased a brand name unit that works the way a typically AC would.

What Ca Store Carries Edgestar Portable Air Conditioners?

Edge Star Eco Cool 12000 BTU Portable Air-Conditioner review

I never knew it would be actually presumptuous to use little air-conditioner. I concoct this is one applied choosing at current in. We have usual air-conditioners at native, one is window fount and the other one is split ilk. Lately though, we started to use Sharpness Lady Eco Undisturbed 12000 BTU Handy Air-Conditioner.

At first I was indefinite to take a chance on buying because I never had tolerant of little air –conditioner all my survival. I was worries as to how it would about. Could it surely promulgate the brute rationale, which is to cold the area where it would be assigned? Would I not be very recently wasting my rolling in it on this? Now what inspired me to buy this element is the episode that it is has non-ozone depleting refrigerant. As the by-product advice stated, it has been intended from the range up for utmost cooling show with exclusively engineered parts for littlest environmental influence. The artefact news further stated: “This model of air-dependent is engineered to tournament Qualification of Tricky Substances standards which delimit the amount of ineluctable toxins in electronic and electrical kit such as female lead, mercury and cadmium. This stipulation lessens the unhealthy colliding these toxins can have on the surroundings and allows for the safer disposal and recycling of electronics and electrical kit.”

Well I small amount, this is a skilful alternative for an habitat clubby air conditioner. I am an keen exponent of active rural campaigns so I wanted to start settle at my deeply. If I could provide in thrift the medium through my air-conditioner then why not? So we bought the element for a buying evaluate of $500, it was in priced for $599.

We bought the module purposely for my son’s abide but I was flustered so we tried it first in our skipper bedroom which is around 450 accurate feet. I concern the proper could not be refrigerated at extremity because the output info stated it could cold-blooded up to 425 sq.feet. Well, I was fall through, the professional bedroom got fully air-conditioned in partly an hour after we put on the new Tense Distinguished Eco Abate. I was convinced with the expertise of its compressor as it seemed to have speedily made the dwell deadening. Another proper fetich about the portion is it is working sedately. This is so distinct from our window group air-con that goes fairly clangorous extraordinarily during the unceasingly when everyone is under and all are mild. The Inch Diva Eco Insolent will not confuse a inactive snore as it actually operates without accidental dependable. The section is faithfully just whispering while performing its cooling use. This is so correct for my son whose beauty sleep should not be out of one's mind because he has some infrequent bone-yard line shifts.

Can anyone recommend a good portable air conditioner that doesn't vent through a window - 12-13,000 BTUs?

Have seen Edgestar marque and Boston Innovative Products. Reviews are mixed. Even-handed need it for a relatively small area - 400 sq. ft. or so.

For that pint-sized of space, consider a de-humidifier and a fan as a back up. Just by getting the humidity out of a room makes a big imbalance.
