Didn't get the size
I received the jotting and was all right with it I found it a bit bulky and I had to raise it closer to my window because the coil attachment that went from the piece to the window was a few inches short and kept pulling out of the window, this was beginning to frustrate me. I had to suitable the unit on my cedar chest to be able to enjoy it. I feel like all of the air is raising to the greatest extent and not straight out into my bedroom because of the short coil that came with the unit.
Otherwise, it does cool my space a little longer than usual if it were a little closer to the floor. If someone can tell me where I can find a longer whorl to go from unit to window this would make me very happy.

Not very wholesome
This affair just isn't worth the time or money so I suggest you pass on it. Well made unit and I've owned mine for several years. Second-hand it for a while to cool part of my 250 ft houseboat. It would really only cool the very back of it. It's big and clunky and not real quiet. One refractory is the compressor is inside of course and you hear it. The REAL problem is that it doesn't really unemotional. It seems to blow cold air but NEVER cools down the room.
DO NOT BUY!!
WOW,THIS Fetich IS CRAP! IT RUNS AND RUNS BUT NOTHING HAPPENS. 5 DEGREES MAX COOLING. VERY LOUD,VERY Blaring,VERY LOUD. IF YOU WOULD LIKE A UNIT THAT YOU NEED TO RUN 24-7 TO COOL A 250 SQ. FOOT Accommodation TO 73 DEGREES, THEN THIS IS THE UNIT FOR YOU. SAVE YOURSELF NOW. I NOW HAVE A $300 PAPER WEIGHT. DO NOT BUY!!!!!.

met my expectations
I ordered two of these for the two upstairs south fa rooms of my house. Both units came packaged well, but one looked like it might be a return. There was no reparation on the unnew unit other than 4 cracks in the exhaust hose which duct tape took carefulness of, and there was no plastic film overlay to protect the control panel from scratches. Take off 1 star. That said, there is no seeable difference in the performance of the two units. The window vent kits mounted easily, and the units do a reliable job of keeping the rooms cool. Matter of fact, the smaller of the two rooms actually got too uncaring until I turned the thermostat up. The units are not quiet, but bearable and much quieter than the in-window units I was normal to as a child. The filter is easily accessible and the unit appears to be easy to maintain. One reviewer complained about an other intake filter being inaccessible unless you take the unit apart; this is so, but it's not listed as a required preservation item. It's a screen on the side of the unit that I intend to vacuum periodically - I will report back if that doesn't do the hoax. Draining the water is not a task I relish, but it's more convenient on this unit than a larger portable a/c from another fabricator which I have cooling the family room. This unit can't compete with a central air system, but at 1/4 the price of important air for 3 portable units, we're enjoying this summer in relatively cool comfort. I may report back after I see the first energized bill.

Air conditioner was a survival saver ...
I purchased the SPT WA-9020E air conditioner when my essential system cratered. I put the SPT in my office. It works very well. There is one thing that must be done, however. I had to port the water outlet hose to the surface because Houston is very humid and the unit created a LOT of water. After I got tired of emptying my container, I barely drilled a hole in the window barricade and ran a small rubber hose to the outside. This component has done a yeoman job from the beginning!

We use this in the front of our house, with an open corridor, and it manages to cool the front room just fine, regardless of the room not being closed off fully. We also have high ceilings.
This is a quality product. It may be hard to be in the arms of Morpheus with the noise at full blast, so do as the instruction manual suggests and run the machine 1-2 hours before you doze.

Takes the inch off
We got this part about a month ago and have been using it as needed to help fight the high heat days we've been seeing more and more of this summer on the East Slide. It's our temp fix until we make the jump to central air or mini split AC next spring. The room that this is positioned in is a living/dining "great" room that is approx 26'x16'. I've measured the temperature of the air forthcoming out of this unit and it's about 63F. We've been running this unit for 12-14 hours a day and it keeps the temps in the room around 82F (I should note that we get full sun and even with the blinds closed the stay still gets quite hot during the day). We never intended for this unit to chill the room to 68F but rather to just take the sidle off of the temps and to take some of the moisture out of the room. This unit does that quite well and I should note that we've not yet had the "water full" clarification come on even after it's been running for so many hours per day..
right little a/c
I've been using this off and on for the lifestyle month. Since I live in Seattle I rarely need air conditioning, but the place I'm renting now is in the upstairs of a accommodate that does not ventilate well at all so I wanted to be able to cool off the bedroom at night. The fan isn't what I'd call quiet, but it isn't wonderful loud either. So far I've only used the low a/c setting and it can cool off my small room 4 to 6 degrees in 30 to 45 min. It was categorically worth the expense for me. My bedroom is a pretty small room so you'd probably want a maquette with more BTU for a big room or a room with high ceilings.
Works well!
I've never radical Amazon feedback (only obligatory feedback for non-Amazon sellers), but I felt I should give my 2 cents for shirt-pocket ACs, considering how much confusion is out there. I spent many hours researching portable ACs and so far I'm glad I chose this one. It's a no-trimmings portable, perfect for my 11x13 bedroom not only for its cooling/dehumidifying coverage but also because it includes a 51" window kit which nicely covers my 48" slider window, and, because my home complex rules do not allow window units, the "portable" nature of this unit is a must. It also weighs the same as a comparable window part, and I have yet to need to do any draining despite continual usage during this humid New England summer. My only uneasiness is whether it's going to last at least 5 years as I hope or if it doesn't last the summer. But so far so good!

Half-baked
It blows slenderize cooled air which even on high takes a bit to lower the room temp barely at all. Also, the water tray fills within a few hours of management if I don't have it going somewhere (which I now do), and I don't even live in all that humid of a climate. Water is not easily removed either, have to let it out the pipe.
As has been said, if it is at all credible to use a window unit, do so. I have crank outs so it sadly wan't for me.

Soleus LX140
We have occupied this unit to air condition a room without central HVAC. It has worked very well. We will be testing its ability to ignite this area this winter.....and I suspect it will work great.
Bad Standard Bad Choice
We have this section now and it has been a nightmare. We brought this unit only to recieve a unit that was not working properly. The unit's flaunt gave out error codes and started shutting off after a few hours. I contacted the customer submit to and was told the unit was defective and to return it from where we purchased the unit. I called the company and they were slightly nice about it. They gave me a RMA number and sent out another unit. We recieved the new unit a week later unpacked it and installed it within the hour it indoors only to find out that this unit was dead on arrival. I called the company and complained and they told me when they recieved the other two units back they would send a third section. We now have the third unit and we spent more time mopping the floor than anything. I do not reccommend this machine or any products from this associates. The odds of getting two bad machines are bad enough let alone three. This company really gives portable air conditioners a bad name.
Soleus vest-pocket
Dulcet much does what it is advertised to do. I solved the drain pan problem by tubing it out the wall in a permanent trend with a combination of tygon tubing and aluminum tubing so that it will self drain.
First-rate I've owned
Before buying a transportable air conditioner, it helps to understand what you can expect and not expect from it. There is no way it will provide the cooling of central air, ductless air or even a actually good window unit. I have owned all of these and speak from experience. However, when you move into a condo with all kinds of restrictions about what can be prominent from the exterior or constraints on the architectural structure, then the portable is the best answer.
I have owned 4 of these and three divergent brands. My condo has three separate major spaces, 2 smaller for bedroom followers and office/den. The main living space is larger than the max recommended for any 120 volt component, and that is where I now have the Soleus LX140.
The two smaller spaces are cooled with GE 10,000 BTU units that I have had for 5 years. HE quit making these units the year after I bought them They are calmness and have held up and keep the spaces in the upper 70s when the ambient temperature is in the mid 90s.
I used to have and Edgestar in the main lay out. I live in the Seattle area so only need the cooling about 2 months a year, and then not every day. The Edgestar was the worst piece I have ever owned. It was the noisiest unit and it quit in the middle of the second season. I called the industrialist in Texas and they said it only had a 90 day warranty. They also said they had no service reps in the Pacific NW and couldn't assistance. After lengthy searching, I found one person who said they fixed them. After spending over $300, it still didn't line. The service tech said he would take it to the shop and return it in "New Condition." That was a year ago and I have never seen him or the element again.
So I bought the Soleus. I found a dealer in Portland where I knew I could get to if needed. The manufacturer is in California, I can get there lovely easily too. Also, the Soleus has a 1 year warranty. I ordered the unit and it was delivered in 7 days. I set it up immediately but found that you had to use the reserved to turn on the fan oscillator. It had to be the receiver or the transmitter, but I didn't know how to tell. I called the merchandiser, and within a few hours I got a call back from the manufacturer. They said they would send a new remote. If it still didn't work, they would send a mark and an RMA. I got the remote in three days and everything worked.
The Soleus runs about 10 db quieter than the Edgstar. My might living space is oversizrd with 594 square feet and with partial cathedral ceilings giving about 5565 cubic feet. I am on the top lower limit, facing southwest with ceiling to floor glass across the entire space. Without any AC, the space has reached 110 degrees when it was 95 facing in the late afternoon. Also, there are no opening windows or sliding doors, so I am venting the unit up the fire duty flu.
This week we had three days in the 90's. When it reached 98 degrees outside, the Soleus maintained the berth at 81. When the temperature reached 85 today, the Soleus maintained the space in the mid 70s.
CONS: The only con I have at this plan is that the fan oscillation is vertical instead of side to side. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning for that. Cold air settles and hot air rises so a sempiternal upward blast that oscillated die to side makes better sense to me. My GEs do that very effectively.
As for evaporation, I have had it ceaseless for fiv continuous days without a drop of water coming from the drain. Of course the Seattle space has relatively low dew points. In areas like the midwest, east coast or south east, there may be more of a disturbed.
The next test will be longevity as to how long it will hold up. However, at this time, the Soleus LX140 has proven to be the beat unit of its type that I have used and I am very impressed with the technical service assistance of the manufacturer.
not again
:
I bought 1 of these soleus worked for 1 summer, then no more premeditated air sent it back cost 100 dollars. they sent me a new 1 didn`t work, had to send that 1 back still waiting on that 1. O ya it was 11 months 21 era old thank god there was a hot day or who nows what great things might have happen if I waited 10 more days. bought a two year agreement, can`t wait to see how that works because i bought 2 of them at air & water hpoe its not as bad as I`ve heard. the other 1 works great, so far.If it breaks Ill solely junk it. Not doing that again. O ya the broken 1 is a LX 140 the other is a LX 120
O ya the heater never worked on the LX 140. All said I like them alot i don`t have some big obsession sticking out my window and i can look out my window with out standing on my tip toes.

Proficient little machine.
I lively in Pittsburgh and we do get some heat here in the summer. Small apartment in a 60 year solidly built structure. I have been running this machine during the day for over 2 weeks now and I love it. I am not a big fan of really cold air-conditioning and so far this section does not make my place a freezer, but makes it extremely comfortable considering the give form to of my apartment, i am cooling about 630 sq ft with bedroom and bathroom doors closed. So it is a little over its recommended cooling field, but for my needs, it is more than great.
Now, one thing about draining the water out of the unit.....I haven't. Was delivered on July 6th and as I said above, it has been on all day since then. I by no means run it at night as once my place is in my comfort zone, it stays that way all night. I have not had to empty any water and it has been humid here. I am almost frightened to say anything about that in front of it so I don't bewitch myself.
I did buy the Square Deal warranty for this for three years so that if it does break down, I am covered. Anyone who does not fa out the money for that at the reduced rate you get from Amazon is being quite foolish with their money. Way cheaper that what you would get at Maximum effort Buy or Sears by more than 50%.
In the winter, I plan on rolling it into my bedroom to heat that area. We still have radiator steam eagerness here and during temperature transitional days, temp goes up then down real fast, the heat does not fetch up for about 24 hours. This will make that room much cozier.

How to buy and use this celebrated technology correctly
I noticed that all carry-on air conditioner reviews give either 4 or 5 stars or 1 or two stars. The difference seemed to be that the one or two star people did something major that caused the unruly, and you could tell what it was, just by reading the complaint. (return a unit that is leaking when you open the sachet, stand it up and wait two hours before trytin to turn it on, so that the freon is not flodding the pump (it will weaken), etc.
I am a chemical engineer, and have worked with both the theory and practical aspects of AC.- so let me give you a brief rundown of how to ick te most superbly unit for you, and how to get the best performsnce afterward:
1. Picking a unit: (use the sortable list on www.portableacguide.com to be on a par with different models)
a. There are two main types: 3-in-1 and 4-in-1.
3-in-1 modes are Fan, AC and Dehumidifier. The dehumidifier standard operating procedure uses the AC to cool the air until the water comes out, then puts the hot ir it sends outside when working as an AC module back into the room instead of sending it outside.
4-in-1 adds a heater. Cheap designs use an thrilling heater coil placed in front of the fan. (Ok if you only want a little heat, now and then, or if you want heat when it is colder than 41 degrees front. (buy this in Maine.)
More expensive 4-in-1 units do not use an electric heater, but act like a "heat pump"- that is, they line like good home units popular south of the mason dixon course (wiki it, kids). More about this when we get to my FAQs on mode 4.
Mode 1 FAQ
While buying an AC just for the fan is not smart, don't underestmate the fan only jurisdiction. Moving air over you can add 5 to 6 degrees to the temprature you feel is comfortable. If it is only 76 or 77 degrees out, try decent sing the fan, and pointing it at you. It will usually o the job unless the humidity is extremely high.
Mode 2 FAQ:
AC immensity is measure in BTU but typically you need 6000 BTU for a room that is 200 sq ft (eg, it is 20x10 or 14x15).
This is if the room is well insulated, the sunlight does not surge in, and the AC is left on so you don't need a quick cool-down. people by an 8000BTU unit and expect it to cold-blooded the hot, hunid 350 sq fot bedroom in 1/2 hour. The web site I recommended has tips on appropriate sizing. One tip I will add is that the exhaust hose is 15 inches fully collapsed. The more you extend it nd aim for it go around bends, the poorer it will work. Lots of sharp bends and fully extending the hose will "derate" the goods size (and efficnecy) by possibly as much as 20%. When in doubt, buy bigger- but too big a unit will make a turbulence when the fan is on, and will cycle on and off way to often.
Mode 4. (yeah, its out of order, but this is for a good reaon).
Heat pumps tail side some valves in the AC unit, and suddenly, the pipe going outside gives off cold air, and the indoor part puts out hot air, This is ruthlessly twice as energy efficient as the cheaper heating coil, but stops working around 40 degrees of outside temperature.
Mode 3 FAQ: Dehumidification only, and, oh yeah, an AC does dehumidification while it cools-
Actually , the AC dehumidifies too. If the underground room is too damp, you can use a portable unit to warm it up a little and dry it out a lot. Then, if it gets too warm, switch to AC and presumptuous it and dry it. For htat matter, just sit a windo unit on a chair, and let it blow back into the room a substitute alternatively of out a window, and use it as a dehumidifier.
In coastal regions, and near rivers and lakes, the air is very humid. Dehumidifiers must purposeful the air as much as an AC to get rid of the water, (and use as much energy as an AC does), but they dump the hot air back into the room instead of pushing it outside. unless you have a apathetic damp basement problem, the Dehumidifier only mode is not the answer.
But what happens to the water from the dehumidifier process? An AC may use more energy removing the water than cooling the air. (this is why it tale so long to cool a hot, humid cubicle quarters the first time, but if it is keep closed, so that the next day it is only hot, it will not take nearly as long to cool it down again.) A room sized machine will typically unseat 10 gallons (40 pints) or more a day. The water runs to the bottom of the unit. Window units pump off the water that collects in the bottom of the unit out the window. A portable AC has to collect it. Typical collection resevoirs grip less than 4 pints, at which time a float switch stops the cooling and leaves only the fan (so you think it doesn't chilled after just a few hours use if you just plug it in and let it run.) You can attach a hose and drain continuously (use a hose bracket if you do), or else empty the tiny resivoir each time the AC stops cooling. The trouble with using a hose is that the hose is not very excited off the floor, and the resevoir will simply overflow if you don't notice it is full.
Here is my solution. Elevate the machine a few inches by static it on a set of bed leg height adjusters (>$10 at a hardware store), then, attach the hose, and fashion a someway to hang the end of the free end of the hose up on the machine. I straightened a large paper clip and tied it around the hose close the free end, and bent the end of the paper clip so that it hooked into a convenient spot high enough up on the prime mover to know the hose would not overflow before the float inside the machine shut off the AC. Since the hose is as plain as day, I can see how full the resevior is, and, without shutting off the AC, unhook the hose and drain it into a 1 gal plastic jug that sits on the floor and has a oubliette in the side near the top. Hang the hose back up on its hook, and use the water on your plants or in your iron. (it is actually shower water that you made yourself).
The reason, by the way, they can remove 40 or more pints a day, and only have a resevoir 1/10th the size, is that they burst most of the water they collect onto the condensor coils (the ones that put hot air back outside). This water helps chilled the coils and makes the AC run more efficiently- and you don't have to dump it. (They do this to help get back the energy required to remove it from the air that is prosperous into your room.)
About 90% of the water collected will be used this way. This means that if you have no humidity, your energy bill will be about the same, since you don't take it out, and don't put it back. However, if you do contemporary in low humidity, maybe you should be buying a much cheaper evaporative cooler, that cools you by spraying drinking-water into the air.
If I can go back to mode 4 (heater, again, It also means that the manufacturer of units with a heat pump cheap it when they say that when you use a unit to heat with, set up a continuous drain. Spraying the water on the normally hot (now cold) side will type ice, and freeze up the unit, causing it to fail to operate, and possible damage to the compressor.
For the enlightened student, who wants to continuously drain the unit in the summer, Just remember that you are eliminating one of the big energy reducing chips- the re-use of the water to spray cool the hot condensor coils. My hose trick can be modified by putting a tee connector in the hose above the strain outlet of the unit, but below the height that causes the compressor to shut off- connect an overflow hose, and any profligately that is needed for the cooling of the coils will be available, but the exces will be available to safely drain to another place. hopefully, you are now hagh enough to draininto a 5 gallon plastic gas can, or something, but you have to know what you will do with all that water. They sell publicize in drain pumps that can be used to keep your overflow can emptied out, and that can pump the water through a small sham tube wherever you want it.
Have a whole house AC and don't need more? read this:
My house is in Florida- typical daytime temp of 94, with 65% or more humidity, and while evensong time temps go down to 70 by about 3 AM, the humidity goes up. No one lived in Florida by choice until the prevarication of AC. My reason for buying the portable units was to create a "zone" in my bedroom at night, (set the Hose AC at 80), and also to have close unit that I could put in my TV room in the cold months to use between 7 and 11 in the evening when we like to watch tV (let the whole concert-hall cool, and sleep under blankets in the now cool bedroom when we go to bed.)
For this reason, I got a 4-in-1, and because I live below the mason dixon virgule, I got a heat pump version.
I hope this review prevents you from experiencing any of the reasons why so many population had bad experiences with the same products others found to work well.

Soleus PH4-13-R1 Stupendous Air Conditioner
I purchased this portion for cooling my bedroom. The room is approx 500 Sq ft with vaulted ceilings. The unit was peaceful to setup, install in window with dual hoses and insulation covers. I am really elated with unit so far, it has reduced the temp in bedroom from 89-90 without unit to a cool 74. I have not had any problems at all with item.

A leaking crush in of junk
I purchased this portion in July 2008 and I have had nothing but problems with it. The Soleus support line is always busy, and when you do get someone, they look for an sponsor and never call back. My front panel to control the unit does not work, and I have tried to get Soleus to replace the panel, with no fortuity. I have to use the remote control to use the A/C. Around 2 years of service, and the unit started leaking water. It appears the out of line for the unit is not placed far enough back, and so the water pan just drips out of the unit, right onto the dumbfound. You can pay to have the unit shipped back and repaired they said, but the minimum charge is $150 plus shipping charges. Don't wasteland your money!

THIS IS A DUAL HOSE Module!!!!
I wrangle with the previous 2 review scores. I also live in NYC, the basement studio apt of a brownstone. When I first moved in 2 years ago, the owners let me keep the dehumidifier that they kept down here because they admitted that it get's sticky with the lack of air circulation. My 3 horizontal slider windows are adjacent and small (3'x2'), and they are all place on the same wall at the front of the studio. So, the air is terrible. There is also no radiators for heating. It's hot in the summer, cold in the winter, and sticky always (but it is very spacious & has a huge walk in closet & a separate ventilated laundry room... with the quotation it's worth it :P) I ordered this unit because it was the only dual hose ac/dehumidifier/heater that was ideal for me (the Whynter models' hoses were too big for my window epitome and you had to remove the 2nd hose in dehumid mode, and the Sunpentown models were too pricey for the BTU's). I didn't even distinguish this model was sold by Amazon, I found out about doing a bing search, Soleus didn't even have this copy on the website, which led me back to Amazon. It had everthing I wanted at the right price, but the reviews stalled my impulses. After further check out I found that SoleusAir doesn't even have this exact model on the website for some odd reason, but it has the models below it, the PH4-12R-01 & PH4-10R-01. All the PH4 models are dual hose. I binged the ideal number, and all the other online stores that sold it advertised as dual hose. It isn't advertised on Amazon as such, and the 1st reviewer, iSkyscraper, who didn't even foothold the device doesn't help either. However, iSkyscraper is 100% correct about portable units. His sharp info helped me to better understand why I should by this unit... do not buy one without a dual hose. If you are looking for a dual hose ac/dehumidifier/wood stove with great BTUs... this is the best you are going to get on Amazon.
So I have only had it for 24hours, but I have had it running for 24 hours... never stop a confine off... air is soooo much better now. I will come back and update in a week or so as I want to put it through the tests. It also has quicken pump technology which is just as signicant for winter as dual-hose is for summer. But as of proper now... 5 stars!

Don't buy if you animate any place humid
I actual in NYC and deal with hot humid summers. I bought the AC so I can move the unit from my living room to my bedroom with relax (to that extent--it was great) and -- more importantly-- so I didn't have to drain the tank (that collects moisture when dehumidifying a con room --- which most portables make you do).
Here are the issues:
1) The unit stops cooling and switches to "fan" when the tank is full (it's reputed to switch back when the water in the tank evaporates). Here's the issue--- the tank is full every THREE hours. So that means I whirl on the AC before bed and wake up 3 hours later in a pool of sweat because the unit couldn't get rid of the moisture it nonchalant fast enough. SO I can wait for it to evaporate (mmmmm, ok) or I can drain the unit. Neither is a good option at 4am. But I predominantly drain...which leads me to....
2) The drain on the unit is about 1 inch from the floor. That means you need a pail that fits under the drain less than inch tall but that can hold liters of water. What this means---there is nothing that can stand the amount of water in the tank as it drains without it running all over the floor. So it's four am, I'm hot and trying to drain a system and have no container that can over b delay the flow of water coming from the drain. Only a cookie sheet (yes, I resorted to a cookie skin) fits under the drain and it obviously can't hold the volume of water.
3) Customer support mention favourably "continuous draining" for humid places. So I buy a hose and hook it up, but because the drain is an inch from the astonish, the hose directs up, not down....because there is no down (again, an inch from the floor) which results in spillage.
If you have any humidity--don't perplex.

According to a Gibson County heating and air technician (HVac tech) stretch teens are briskly ‘huffing’ Freon to get momentous. Freon, a chemical coolant most jointly found in air conditioners, refrigerators, and car engines contains exorbitant concentrations of toxic compounds that can bring out cognitive impairments and limit perspicacity functioning if ingested. tech describes the unnerving influx of calls he has received over the defunct few months, all from neighbourhood customers requesting repairs be made to their ‘defective’ air conditioning systems. After receiving 10 character calls in one month from “regulars claiming to have nearly the same problems… missing employment caps and empty tanks of Freon,” the technician called the the gendarmes- on a intuitive guess that restricted teens were behind the tamperings. After a painstaking questioning of the vandalized AC units, administer confirmed that city teens had in factually been ‘huffing’ the Freon- “alluring the fill caps off the AC units to right of entry the Freon for a keen boisterous.” Several Gibson County teens were implicated in the incidents and are fa mannered penalities for larceny Freon. Get drano smell out of air conditioning vent?
Jul 03, 2007 by onebrightblue | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
My mom put an absolute bottle of Drano in the kitchen sink yesterday and it didn't get the descend unclogged. So the Drano sat there overnight for a total of about 24 hours until the plumber could on today. The entire first floor of the house smelled like Drano and as good as made me pass out, even with the windows open. (It was an Ace Hardware name brand of Drano in a dark gray bottle.) Today the subside has been fixed, but the smell got into the air conditioning vents and it is strong every every now we run the air conditioner. Is there any way to get it out of the vents, or will it go away after a few hours?
First transform the air filter on your unit. I wouldn't spray much else into the air for a day or so.
Also run plenty of distilled water thru all your drains. Fill up the tub and sinks. After they are all full release the water so a big gush of sea water really cleans the drains good.
